If I'm not having much trouble with this game, should I be able to beat the Souls games without a shield pretty easily? All my many hours of the Souls games were spent turtling behind a shield. I feel like I should go back and try some 2H only runs one day.

I played DS2 with no shields my second time through. It was super fun, learning the iframes is great.

Gehrman was the first boss that i used all my blood vials and beat him with almost 5% health on my 7-8 try.Geez...

You know what buddy, I'd take one of your Supernova's any day over this shit.

Seriously though, I have consistently got him down to like two hits then my ass gets combo'd to kingdom come. It's getting to the point where I may actually have to grind to get vials!

So frustrating!!!

Yeah, dual wielding is badass in DaS2. 2h weapons like zwei and great scythe are completely OP in DaS.

VA is actually the easiest. You just need fire paper and go to town. There is hardly any strategy involved.

On a unrelated note, the only thing I'm finding somewhat annyoning in this game (which is still so far my game of the gen) is how some areas just have no enemies that drop Blood Vials for some reason (or at least I'm not getting them). I'm not asking for them to drop constantly but having one type of enemy that sometimes drops them would be useful. Other than bosses I don't use them very often but if no one drops them you will sooner or later run out of them and you will have to go to other areas to farm them

Do you know if it's worth putting points into Arcane for Ludwig's if you have a good elemental gem? I tried putting one point in to see the damage difference with an average Bolt gem and it wasn't that much.. seems better to just go past 25 for Str//Skl and hit those hard caps.

You don't have to ask to be invaded

You sort of do, actually.

You have to ring the co-op bell (the one to get help, not the one to help others) in almost all areas in the game for a Bell Maiden to appear and open you up for invaders (in NG anyway, can't speak for NG+). Only the zones where a Bell Maiden is present from the start have old fashioned invasions and even those can be stopped by killing the Bell Maiden.

Since I solo and or do summons to help others, I've never been invaded once in BB and I'm pretty far in.

I died at Rom for what felt like the hundredth time. So I decided to eschew all my lost blood and go farm the pigs in Yahar'gul. Well fuck me, I found my echoes that were technically dumped in Rom's room, right there in front the first pig!!!

HELL YEAH! I lost about half (dropped 60000 only to get back around 30000) but shit that still feels amazing. Fuck off Rom!

Yeah I noticed this as well. Outside of the starting area I'm hardly getting them.

But I think this was also the case in Demon's Souls, where Latria for example mostly gave MP regen.
