Did you check it's durability? maybe it needs repair? Either that or check the runes you have attached on the other weapon.
It's brand new, so full durability. In fact my Saw Cleaver is nearly half (do the damaged done by them go down I take it?).

Are you using thrusts/blunt attacks on one compared to the other?

Enemies can take slightly more damage from one compared to the other. There's no "slash" in this game so I assume "blunt" covers everything that isn't thrust.

I'm essentially doing "slashes" with normal attack for both. Guess this would be the Blunt part. Maybe just that enemy that they are very similar. Just little annoying that the Saw Cleaver does same damage-ish at faster rate. I'll have to try it on different enemies.

At least the claymore tricked version of it does a lot of damage compared to the tricked version of Saw Cleaver.

I got teleported after killed that abomination boss, got to the second floor of the study and now I teleported to nightmate (I forgot what it's called). I see no lantern around...can anyone point me to one?

Well fuck. I think I just messed up two NPC storylines. Both related to the area around Father G. I just wanted to farm blood vials and shit went down.
I sent the cranky old lady to the Oedeon and the little girl to the clinic. Turns out my initial assessment of those two options may have been completely backwards...cool that the old lady actually has a visible model though. Wonder if the girl would have too.

Then I went back through Father G's boss area since I figured I'd go putz around in the cathedral ward. Suddenly an NPC hunter starts wrecking my shit, I flee up the stairs... wait, another enemy? No, just Crow Lady and she's...saving me? I sit back and watch assuming it's some kind of scripted event...nope, NPC kills her. Oops. I backstab him with my stake driver and do a visceral attack...oh, he's not dead. I counter shot him twice but visceral attacks don't work on stairs apparently so he ends up with 0 hp in his bar while I flail about and die. A few tries later I just say fuck it, get him stuck on some gravestones and stab him with my greatsword until he's dead. I'm wearing his armor now which is cool I guess, but I'm pissed at what happened to crow lady.

fourth boss spoilers

Really? Healing? You know you've made a boss fight too easy when you have to artificially make it harder by making it take longer because the boss is able to heal whenever they want and you can't stop them. And the boss only "sometimes" getting stunned after a big hit is complete bs. Oh well, guess this game isn't perfect, as much as I liked the first three bosses.

I find her the easiest out of the 5 bosses I encountered. Get behind her and R2 or R1, whatever suits you. Dont dash left or right, her sweeping attack is crazy.

got to Shadow of Y, got destroyed lol

Try getting rid of the ranged one first. Or did you have trouble with the latter part of the fight? In either case, know that the two with swords seem to dodge every time they take damage, so it gives you an opportunity to either hit them again, deal with another one, or escape.

Is it
Mergo's base ? If so, follow the right wall i think, if you see a bridge, don't cross it that's the wrong way, you'll find the lamp before an elevator

Good amount of progress today for only a few hours of play:

  • Went through
    Hemwick Lane
    and deafeated the
    Hemwick Witches
    . Yay for Runes!
  • Defeated
    Vicar Amelia
, who went down rather easy on my third attempt.
  • Killed the two
    Hunters
    to the right of the
    Grand Cathedral.
Was a bit disappointed that the only reward was some Bolt paper.
  • Revisted and cleared out most of the
    Unseen Village
. Right now at a bit of a road block with
    Paarl
    .

Not sure where I'm supposed to be going to be honest after defeating VA, with
Unseen Village
just being a detour. There's talk of a
password
, but I'm not sure where to get it as I've spoken to all the NPCs I've come across.

Btw, the
Yahar'gul
looks sick.

Edit: Also tried to do some co-op today, but nothing worked. Might have been level differences (42 compared to 24).

Edit 2: I'm now a member of TeamLudwig. RIP Saw Spear.

The worst fight I have had so far has been with the other Hunter at the end of the sidequest for
the crow
.

God, being able to heal, throwing the numbing mist, having an OP gun, having the old hunter bone on, chikage, this guy was crazy.
I went through 150 blood vials until I found a good method of taking it slow. I would let him run into my long thrust and just strafe slowly in front of him until I could parry or drain his health with his
chikage
by running away.

Aww Vicar Vicar, you must love me so much that you can't stop hugging me, do you?

On a positive note, here's the first boss of the first ever chalice dungeon I've done, I spent nearly two hours with this fucker because I had to beat him without vials... eventually I learnt all his genealogic tree.

Chalice Dungeon Boss, First Layer

They suddenly
all sprouted snakes and their long range attacks killed me.

Anyone wanna help me? I'm sick of this area.

as far as I can tell the
boss of cainhurst
is impossible. endless pew pew that does almost my full life bar.

I ended up getting frustrated on this thing and decided to look up how to beat it and the first thing that popped up said the recommended level for it was
75
so that might be why it seems so hard.

It's called Nightmare of Mensis. I can't use my Bold hunters mark because it just teleports me back to the cave again with no lantern.

since there's no level cap (right?), I wonder what the decided "pvp level" will be...

I feel like Angry Joe will call the game out for having weak loot -- rarely getting new weapons, lack of builds, that kinda thing most reviewers glossed over I think AJ will probably address.
I dunno, I think there are plenty of new weapons are available, just none seem as useful as the trusty axe I got at the start of the game.

I find the transformable weapons in general much more interesting than anything in prior Souls games and am perfectly fine with quality of quantity. I'm sure this adds an additional layer of work for each weapon and that's why we don't see as many silly variants. The transforming option gives you a way to answer literally any situation based on range etc.

I think it improves the combat greatly actually.

A bit confused here. I beat
Rom
and was
warped to a circular room.
I decided to double back to the Grand Cathedral and use the teleporter there. Unfortunately, I was met
by a woman who wrecked my shit.
Was this
Eileen the Crow?
Isn't she supposed to be friendly?
I actually want her gear but might pass if she's this difficult.
I got a parry off on her and did a paltry amount of damage.

Welp. Took a chance and went to the
lecture hall
. I guess sleep will have to wait for another year.

What the fucking hell. Oh my gooddd

Need some advice on where to go after 3rd boss
I just beat blood Beast in Old Yarnum and have no idea where to go, I've looked around and can't see anything? Any suggestions?

Agreed that
she's definitely the most easy. It just feels more lazy than it does easy, but I guess its more of a boss to teach you how i-frames work than anything. The healing gimmick is just so dumb though, even if it can be canceled out of.

The online is such a fucking bummer for what would otherwise be a masterpiece. I've killed about 7 bosses now, all solo, because online is straight up broken. I'm not even sure it works at all. I've never heard of a single person successfully getting summoned. Just waiting, waiting, waiting, and nothing. Sitting here outside of Darkbeast Paarl with me bell up hoping to help someone out, but nope. I hope they fix this shit asap because online is such a fun part of these games.

I'm supposed to head to the
Oeden Chapel
but I got lost. I got the first chalice and killed
Father and Cleric Beast

What's the general direction I need to go, just to get back on track?

Wonder if the girl would have too.

She doesn't, or at least I have not found her yet

What was I supposed to get from the
Guy on the Gatling gun
I
knocked him from the roof and I thought I killed him, but a guy who looks very similar started attacking me. Once I killed him he only dropped ash.
I think i missed out on the goods.

Man
Gehrman
is probably my favorite
boss battle
in the game. So fun and so fast paced! Reminds of
Knight Artorias fight
from dark souls 1 dlc.
