mid 30s and +4. Ive only tried him once, but I struggled to get in. both my weapons have short range, and I couldnt manage to do the old circle straffing. But like I said I only tried once. Any tips?

Can't be of much help. My weapon was +10 and the boss spent most of the time flattened on the ground. So, it's possible to stun him :p

I wasn't really high level when I fought it but I still stomped it once I understood how it worked.
Once you've removed its lightning power by making it fall over you've won basically. You can just keep on stunning it when it tries to put its lightning back on.
That sounds like something that would only work with a large and heavy melee weapon, unfortunately.

First roadblock for me so far is
Amelia
. I can not get the attack ranges down. The first three bosses took two attempts each to down, but this one is proving a little tougher. Odd, because from what I've read it's supposed to be easier than the others.

I feel like I am battling the camera a lot more than in the Souls games. Especially on bosses...feels like the lock on is aimed up so high and the camera just doesn't keep up with the quicker dodges. At least one of my attempts on the above boss was foiled around 15% when the camera wigged out and I couldn't see where I was.

Managed to beat M
ergos
W
et
N
urse
before he even transitioned to phase 2. What the fuck.

Is there soul levels like there was in DS2? Or can you just stay at lvl125 and you fight ppl around that level?

DS2 newb here but wasnt the system in that game kinda like even if you stay at a certain lvl there's annother stat that governs who you meet etc.

Turn of "camera auto adjust" in the options. It stops the camera from bugging out on walls. It's still not great.

That boss took me a while too, was satisfying to beat. I was also surprised when other people found her easy, but I found other bosses easy that others had trouble with.

Is there a way to change it so I don't have to hit X twice every time I pick up an item? For some reason it's annoying me a lot all the sudden.

Put on armor with highest poison resistance. (black church or gascgoine both work). Keep ten antidotes out and use them whenever your poison guage is over 2/3. DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU'RE ALREADY POISONED. Don't bother witj fire bombs unless you have a high arcane stat. Summin two people, and only attack when he's focused on someone else. Dodge two-three times at the beginninh of each of his attack animations. heal whenever you have a chance to.
Thanks! To summon 2 people I just ring the bell twice? Also the
poison
is what is really getting to me. Using
antidote
early is a great idea.

I just explained the whole thing a few posts above

Well I didn't know his name lol
Further question
I already entered Old Yharnam via the Cathedral. If I re-enter the area with Black Church set via the shortcut you mention, will he still hostile to me? Also, must I defeat Vicar Amilla to get the set or not?

There is no Soul Memory. Matchmaking is determined by Level.

Well, I can beat NG+ now if I want to :lol fuck that though, clearing everything.
I don't remember a phase 2 of this fight when I fought him? Fucking awesome boss btw, looks so cool and I really did want to dodge those attacks!
Mist and duplicate!

It uses Demon's Souls' level range system, so you're matched with players 10 + 10% of your level.

So if you're level 100 you will be matched with players 20 levels below or above you.

Sorry if it been discussed but this is a long ass thead. So the progress blocking bug in forgotten woods which is caused by multiplayer....

Does that include invasions? Like if I get invaded can that trigger the bug, or is it just if you ring a bell for invasions/co-op?

Yeah I was using the hunter axe's awesome L2 attack to
hit both legs (and sometimes the head) at the same time. I'm not sure if hitting both legs does more damage but I staggered it really often.
Are you using the cane?

If he's already hostile toward you he's hostile forever. You don't have to beat Amelia to get the set—it's the first thing I do after Father G

Funnily enough, I am. (Although I'm not the person in question who was having trouble with the fight.) Having said that, though, I went off to do other areas instead of bothering with that fight since I still need to find good openings that'll allow me to attack.

I've looked at some videos of people using the charged up axe attack, and I must admit that I'm a bit...jealous.

Nah, just ring it once and wait for a second person. Hell, even if both your summons die, you'll still get summons automatically until you die or exit the game.

And yeah, if you have ten insight, go to the messengers and get the armor i mentioned. it helps a ton.

People at end game, what's your level? I'm 62. Want to be in range to stick around for tons of coop, don't really want to go to NG+ any time soon..

I just started the game. This is the best game in last 10 years for me after U2.

I can summon players to my world but how can I help others?
I only have one bell where is the other one?

Cool. It was taking a long time just to get one. Better armor sounds awesome but I burned through most of my insight last night.

Scrub level but God damn beating the cleric beast after learning where you're going wrong and correcting it feels god damn good. Maybe I should have played DeS and DaS.

Question:

Is father G the first boss? I'm having a hard time beating him.

Can be,
alternatively if you get onto the great bridge (the one with two werewolves) there is another boss at the end of it. Very easy to get to if you can get to Father G.

There is a way to give you a big helping hand in the fight you're on.
FInd the house with a little girl, she gives you a music box, use it during the FG fight and he'll be stunned for a few moments, can use it to do a charge attack and follow up on him for big damage.

whats the vit and end soft cap again? I got my 25str now

Questions, so many questions:
Is there any point to this "badges" you gain after defeating bosses?, how do you use them?

In one of my revisits to Central Yharnam
I found the little girl that gives you the music box, after I already beat father G, I think I found the little girl´s mom, but I used the brooch to get the blood gem since at the time I didn´t knew about this side quest. So I guess I can´t complete it now, can I? Is there any futher purpose to the music box?

Is it okay to get blood gem from the gold pendant that you obtain from V
icar Amelia
?or is there another better use for it?

That would be for know, 5 bosses down, and despite getting my hopes down at moments,
I´m loving this game.

Welp, I finished the game GAF :D Killed all optional bosses, got all hunter tools, 99% of the weapons, and of course
the best ending
.

What a crazy game. In fact, other than the technical blemishes -- long load times, some audio glitching, and the one time I got stuck in the world -- it's a pretty much perfect game. The level design is purely unreal, and manages to get better and better until the very end of the game, only marginally dipping in quality in maybe one or two places and one boss in particular I thought was more lame than usual.

Here's where I get to reveal a secret about myself: I played (and disliked) both Dark Souls 1 and Demons Souls. I didn't finish either of them.

I did, on the other hand finish and enjoy Dark Souls 2. For whatever reason, DS2 worked for me where those other games didn't, and I have no earthly idea why. Except in that game, I used coop for every single boss. And I think I hurt my experience, but it was honestly just too hard for me back then otherwise as I feel like I was learning the ropes.

But Bloodborne not only works, it exposes DS2 in my mind for being a totally inferior game. Bloodborne is the most perfect game experience I have had since Resident Evil 4. I'm astonished by how much fun I've had with it, and can't wait to -- at a slower pace -- consume the remaining content in NG+. This is the definitive reason to own a PS4, and I cannot wait for what I hope will be an inevitable announcement of Bloodborne 2. I made sure, this time, to do everything in the game solo, and I feel like a badass for it :D

A big thanks to everyone in this thread for helping for their useful hints, tips etc. I don't know if I could have finished to my satisfaction without all the awesome posts here!

only? One thing that Dark Souls 2 did wrong was have too many bosses imo (in most people's opinion I think)

They're 16 vastly different bosses (and also excludes Chalice bosses as well). Dark Souls for example has three fat demon bosses that just reuses the same model and animations. i mean all of Miyazaki's games have fucking awesome, varied and exciting boss fights, but I think Bloodborne's are the best. Even the easiest fight is still awesomely atmospheric and can catch you off guard.
