Question, did you open that gate near the Cathedral with the Hunters badge? Because I didn't and now I think it's bugged.

I saw her in the beginning too, but she hasn't showed up for me still, even in the Grand Cathedral late game.

How late is late game for you? Where are you up to?

Breh... you are in for a rough time.

Yes I did open the gate.
I just made it to the nightmare frontier. Been killing every optional bosses so far as well. Last boss I killed was The One Reborn.

Man, I wish a gun-only build was viable. From what I'm reading, it's not that worth it to invest in the Bloodtinge stat if my focus was on firearms; only having learned guns were mainly for parries after getting it to 15 (only 3 hours in). Kinda forces me to use a playstyle I don't typically go for with this game, which is interesting. I did learn there is some magic-like stuff, at least, so I'll start putting points in Arcane.

Bummer, yeah I think it's because I opened that gate with the lever... :/

I'm at the same point as you right now.

OMG Why am I still stuck in this guy's game? Father G is dead, why can't I return home?

;_;

EDIT: What in the blue FUCK is going on with my game? I just told it to exit to the menu after I got stuck in this guy's game, and it sent me to the fucking Hunter's Dream?

Question regarding weapons and scaling. I'm currently using the Ludwig's Holy Blade and I see that it has Strength, Skill and Arcane Scaling. How does scaling work exactly? Does each stats' modifier effect my overall damage or does the game only take into account my highest stat?

I currently have 18 strength, 12 skill and 7 arcane, if I level up skill and arcane, will I see my damage go up as well or will it not matter because my Strength stat is too way higher than the other 2?

Bring strength to 25, then skill to 25. It will only scale with arcane if you use an arcane blood gem on the weapon. Take note of the increase in ATK each level would give you. Pick the one that gives you more ATK...
STR will give the most investment for point until 25, at which point leveling skill to 25 will add more than STR would.

So no, you're still getting an ATK bonus from skill (you can see the ATK rating go up if you put another point into it).. but you can also see that you will get more for Strength.

Also, upgrading your weapon is more important

How far am I?
Just got to Rom. Haven't explored anything in the Unseen or Nightmare altar yet.

Also, is arcane worth leveling up for the weird ass
items I'm finding?

I mean the bosses that that works on aren't that hard in the first place though. The great thing about the cane is how useful it is in just beating mobs of enemies and shit. The forest for example is so easy as long as you don't get sloppy.

Okay. Again, I'm not saying that the cane isn't good, I'm just saying that starting out, for a person who hasn't played a game like this, the axe is better. And the axe's trick form has just as much cc as the whip, it's just slower.

Not at all. Who your hunter is in this game seems to be sort of circumstantial. You're an outsider looking to get healed by Yharnum technology and blood ministration.
The source of the blood possibly being the pregnant vampire queen at the end of the labyrinth dungeons
What you find instead is
a city infected, (perhaps trapped in a nightmare) and a church who has dealings and pray to cosmic monsters
.
How can she be the source of the blood though? All blood in this game is and comes from the God who the chapel is named after

And crowd control is worse because of the fact that it's slower lol. Trust me, I played a lot with both. Axe is good, but cane is on a whole different level.

I think we will see some cool gun builds. The ash consumable increases the damage significantly.

Alright. Finally beat VA last night. She was way tougher for me than she should've been. I knew what I had to do, it wasn't that hard, and yet I died to her like 20 times. Finally realized that by dodging around to her right (the direction I just naturally go), I was exposing myself to the only attack she can hit behind with and screwing myself. Once I switched my dodge direction it was easy mode. What a dumb mistake to be making.

Also got running around in
the forest
and man that place is tough to find your way around. Real easy to get turned around.

One quick question, I've been heavily upgrading the Kirkhammer (either +5 and +6 right now) and pouring all my souls into Vitality, Endurance and Strength. My skill is only like 10 and my other two stats 7. Am I screwing myself for later with this build?

Has anyone got a link to that elderly guy who's playing Bloodborne? I can't remember his name but he has a cult following on here. I did subscribe when I saw the thread posted but for some reason it's not in my subscriptions.

Fucking killed
Paarl
. THAT FELT SO GOOD.

Picked up (weapon)
the dual-sword weapon that switches like the Kirkhammer but acts as a one handed shortsword or a zweihander
and this is my new favorite.

This game doesn't stop being good. It's nuts.

So I predictably suck. I've never really played any of the Souls games (Demons' Souls a little) and I'm a naturally defensive player... not a recipe for success here!

But I'm not giving up. :)

A few questions/observations:

  • Is it possible to compare stats with your equipped attire BEFORE you buy, without switching back through the menus to check? I know once you've bought it and go to the equip menu it shows the changes, but while I'm learning and currency is hard to come by every little will count

I would also like to know this!

No that's how you are supposed to build for Kirkhammer in the long run.

Is there any worthwhile loot in the Chalice dungeons? Weapons or armor in particular? Or are gems basically the best thing you'll find?
Yes to all of those.

True true haha. But
can item descriptions lie?

Depends on the context of the item description I suppose. Which one are you referencing?

Another thing to consider: Is it history as supplied by the church or the third person omniscient item description voice? People far into the game know that the church is not to be trusted about anything, lol.

Okay, and what takes the whip three hits takes the axe one.

Tradeoff

Guys i am wondering if an encounter is bugged for me right now:
Martyr Logarius

The first two-three times i fought him, he mainly did physical attacks, though he sometimes did his 5-missile attack. Now, though, he will not do any physical attacks, and only spams spells. He also casts spells i never saw before. One is a large missile that floats slowly towards you then explodes for massive damage. I can't even get near him to fight anymore...not sure what to do.

How do i get to Cainhurst Castle? I'm at
Iosefkas Clinic
, but there's nothing here
Did you get the Cainhurst Summons item from there?

Once you do go back to the Witches Abode checkpoint and just walk back to the other lamp... you will get a carriage on the way back. Enter it to go to Cainhurst.

my friend just called me to ask if I'd seen the
crow lady fighting with some guy
... and Im much farther in the game than he is >_>

Im starting to think I missed my chance

Some of these invaders need to get better tactics or just straight up fight. Some lame ass dude just invaded my friends world while I was helping him. Once he found us his tactic was to roll around get hit, then sprint away and hide with his high endurance. This happened for like 15 mins straight. We eventually ganked him when he got cocky and sat down.

Hope it wasn't a gaffer.

Total Souls noob, just crawled my way to the first boss fight after several hours and finally unlocked leveling (without beating the boss, naturally). Is there a checkpoint (lantern) close by after beating the boss (Cleric Beast), or is there still a long way to go for that?

Got invaded for the first time in an area with a bell maiden. Jesus PvP takes forever with 20 health flasks. I ambushed the guy but he just kept healing. Even 2 cannon blast wasn't enough to kill him completely. Eventually he was out of health items and ran away untill I managed to catch up to him and kill him off.

Not really though in any case, and it uses up much more stamina. Unless you have no patience, the cane is better and safer. Faster, less cool down, longer reach, and you can put out more attacks (with each Attack stunning someone). Better than the axe again lol.

Umm have you gotten
the Oedun relic? You get it from killing the blanket person in the chapel or in that secret place. I think it's not from what the church says, but I forget

A lantern will spawn on the bridge once you beat CB.

Is that the only way you can get invaded? In a Chalice Dungeon while the Bell Maiden is still alive?

Killed the Blood-starved Beast with two other players, was celebrating so heartily afterwards with gestures that I didn't realise I was still poisoned. Keeled over after the other players left. Feels bad man.

I retrieved, if you needed closure. :)
