Absolutely loving my Arcane build, more than my skill one.

Rocking Ludwig with a fire gem and Tonitrus, so I have two elements if something is resistant to one.

Using the flame sprayer instead of a gun. The gun powder that makes bullets more effective destroys with the flame sprayer.

And to boot a high arcane stat makes farming a lot easier due to discovery :D

Im getting connection lost within seconds. As soon as i ringmy bell i loose the connection. Was fine before. Anybody else with that same problem?

Are you referring to the ones in Byrgenwerth? if so am wasn't talking about, I was talking about much nastier enemies : (
Equip a frenzy resist rune and gear, then just go in and wail on them. That's the only 'strategy' I could figure out lol
Frenzy is an awful status effect.
what's the consensus on Ludwig's Holy Blade? worth purchasing? Currently using the Axe.
Best PvE weapon in the game IMO.

So, arcane is not shit after all?

It's either evade or die. Even after leveling up for over 30 hours, getting killed in one or two shots is still a common occurrence. There is little room for error in the Souls games, but I am finding it to be the case even more so here. No heavy protection armor and zero defense, other than quick-step and roll. It's just a much angrier, in your face and squash you like an insect experience. And if you try to hang back too much? Well, it's gonna fuck you there, too.

While there's no heavy armor, armor does matter and having a high Vitality gives you a *ton* of survivability. More HP makes a huge difference and the +Defense you get from leveling up your stats is actually pretty meaningful. Pumping it up will give you a lot more room for error. For Armor, what matters is matching the Resistances on it to the Attack Type that the enemy is using. If you do that then it does help to mitigate damage, especially for Arcane/Fire/Bolt damage.

It matters a lot in PVP too. The first time I got invaded I happened to be wearing a set that was high in Thrust and Blood Defense. The poor guy summoned in happened to be using Chikage (the Katana) and could barely scratch me.

Yoshi after you do NG+ is it NG++ or just NG+? Like can you keep completing it and have it harder each time?
It is NG++ and continues on like that (NG+++ etc).

Game scales significantly less after the first NG+ though! After that you only get 10% more echoes and the enemies have approx 5% more health etc.

I haven't been able to get any multiplayer going. I bought the game from US PSN but am playing on an EU account - could that be something to do with it? I have Plus, and am definitely connected - I can read notes and see red spectres but when I ring either of the bells nothing happens.

Could really do with some help on S
hadow
of
Y
arnham
too.

Just met
Amygdala
for the first time. I was like "woah shit" when I first saw her/it. Almost beat the boss and now I am out of vials.

What a game... :D

BSB, Vicar, Witches
all on first try. Heavy axe too easy? Had a hell of a time on
Father Casgoigne
, but then I realised I could just spam 2H heavy axe charge attack.

Lol @ the Vileblood register. Apparently people have killed thousands upon thousands of hunters since launch.
Or they just duped the item to infinity.
What kind of action does From usually take against cheaters?

I got lost in the forbidden wood. Found a cave with tons of bones. nope.jpg, but as clumsy as I am, I fell in. ohfuck. Poison lake. Snakes. This... thing. And that... other thing. I ran around like an headless chicken, then I saw this ladder. This ladder I climbed, for hours I climbed... And I was in the very beginning of the game, near Iosefka's clinic. I found access through the roof inside the clinc...

And then... then... Everything turned to shit in my head.
what the fuck where these giant flobby head thing ? where there survivors ? And Iosefka asked me to leave, where she conducting experiments on the people I was bringing her ? She attacked me, I killed her. Cursed the oblivious she whispered

What have I done ? :(

Where is that ladder, is it in the
pison swamp with the tall dudes?

I don't want to start Byrgerworth until From patch that bug I read about. I literally read about it minutes after I had just finished co-op'ing the boss at the end of the Forbidden Forest :/

In the meantime I'm doing Castle Cainhurst and I'm up to the boss who is just destroying me. Like usual I have waited FOREVER for my Beckoning Bell to find someone, and then as we both approached the fog he left! Why? What sort of monster would do such a thing? ;-;

That's two Insight wasted now. I really wish I had more luck summoning in this game. Being summoned seems to work without issue though.

I'm curious about how far into the game I am. So far I've beaten the following bosses:

Cleric, Father, Amelia, BSB, Witch and Shadows of Yharnam

Found
Darkbeast Paarl
but haven't beaten it yet.

Locations: I've just discovered
Byrgenwerth and the Nightmare Frontier. I've found an invitation to Cainhurst but haven't journeyed there yet.

Any estimate on the precentage of the game I've completed so far?

I hear you. I have been leveling up vitality and changing gear to suit the situation. But still find certain attacks can squash me instantly. And yes, I do see some benefits against elements.
Such as wearing the student outfit vs Rom. But even then, the little spiders can still insta-kill you with a physical attack.
There is always that trade-off that remains. It's just more dangerous here because the game is more in your face than ever.

Before taking the last boss I'd be interested to know how many lanterns I've missed all around the world.

If anyone is in the hunter's dream right now, can you compare the number of your respawn points with mine ?

From left to right :

Tombstone 1]
8 respawn points
Tombrstine 2]
7 respawn points
Tombstone 3]
6 respawn points
Tombstone 4]
12 respawn points

So, arcane is not shit after all?

Not at all. With so much weak to fire it tears apart beasts and beast bosses. The mace with bolt damage is powerful as well and comes with bolt damage as standard so you don't need to use a bolt or fire gem. Both Ludwig and the tonitrus can be gotten early. Ludwig after second boss, tonitrus after third. Same with flame sprayer, after second.

The flame sprayer with bone marrow ash tears through the vicar boss for example. So even if you don't have a fire gem for your axe or Ludwig's if you have it by vicar, the flame sprayer will do the trick.

Interesting. Good to know there is more room for exploring builds than I previously thought.

Did the whole turning into a beast thing turn out to be true? I have some item that I can go beast mode or something along those lines, still not figured out what buffs it gives me other than glowing.

Best vial farming spot?

Tomb of Oedon Lantern (or take the ladder down there from Central Ward if your Tomb port bugged out and stopped working even with a certain quest there finished).

Run backwards through the zone - kill the two enemies to your left, kill the big guy and shield guy at the flaming boulder, collect any items from the mobs the boulder killed, go up the elevator, kill the two big guys, run up the stairs past the two story building and kill the single mob, go into the building and kill the sword guy and wheel chair guy, go up the stairs and kill the two up there in the corners, go outside and kill the single enemy there, go right and kill the two werewolves, turn around and run to the big guy with 3 crows, then run to the Bridge Lantern to return to the Dream. Rinse and Repeat.

If you have the Rune that gives you more item drops be sure to equip it and the +echoes runs are nice as well for it. I usually could go from 0 to 20+ in that run and it's pretty fast.

Best vial farming spot?

Central Yharnam, go through the left door from the lantern, kill the guys in the building(4 QS bullets, chance of vials), go up the stairs, turn left and kill the big dude (2-4 vials), 180 and kill the 2 wolves (either 3 vials each or a blood shard), go back down through the building and go down the stairs, kill the 2 big guys (2-4 each), go down the elevator and cross the bridge (chance of more) kill the big dude (2-4), go around the corner and kill the 2 hairy guys (2 each), run up the stairs and port back to the Dream.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you - my first e.lvl 4 playthrough! WASTE OF SKIN

Enjoying
Forbidden Woods
for the most part, love how the enemy design is progressing.

However, I've now got to
Shadow of Yharnam
is that the right order? The last two bosses I beat were
Vicar Amelia and Witches of Hemwick
, I'm about level 40.

Any tips for this boss? I'm guessing take care of the
mage
first?

I got the Communion Caryll rune thats supposed to let me carry more vials...why is use greyed out...where do I use it...? also fuck platforming in a game like this,I hope this stupid section is the last one...

While it is great for the Flamethrower and Arcanethrower and some elemental gem builds, it's still complete and utter shit for the Arcane "spell" items. They're mostly garbage.

honestly i think i'm just too stupid/dextrously incompetent to play and enjoy these games

i had this recurring dream as a kid where i was trying to climb up this hill with my friends, and they were all climbing up it fine but i just couldn't get up it, i was too weak and too short, i couldn't pull myself up even though my friends all eventually managed it, and i kept falling down and eventually they all just walked off to have fun on top of the hill without me

that's what playing bloodborne feels like to me. everyone is playing on the top of the hill having fun while i'm struggling and failing to haul myself up the side.

No, you are not the only one struggling. Struggle is the name of the game here, even when you finally do make it to the top of that hill. Some may make it up faster, but the struggle is still very real for most of us.

Any good tips to farm for Echoes? I'm planning to get Ludwig's Sword, and that needs 20k echoes.

Currently beaten 3rd boss (BSB), and have unlocked Cathedral Ward, Old Yharnam, etc.
