Depends on the weapon you are mainly using. I believe 25 (?) is the soft cap for Strength, Skill, Bloodtinge and Arcane. And the soft cap for Vitality and Endurance is 30 (?). Since I am using the Holy Sword, it scales with strength and skill. I started leveling up skill once I hit the soft cap for strength. Some weapons such as the Blade Of Mercy only scale with Skill.
edit Mistype again :lol my Arcane is 7 not 17 :P

The "Soft Cap" thing is super misleading.

Yes, you get less of an increase per point past 25/30 for those stats, but it's only SLIGHTLY less. It's not really a "soft cap" and people *really* misused that word. You do *NOT* want to stop raising your stats at that low of a level. The real Soft Cap is at 50. Post 50 stat increases massively drop off, but you still get increases so it's not a "Hard Cap". The Hard Cap is 99, where stats max out.

Except for Endurance which completely stops giving Stamina post 40, though it still gives Defensive increases past that.

Has anyone been able to get summoning/co-op to work? I'm standing right outside the fog gate for the first boss in Old Yharnam and I range the Beckoning Bell but nothing is happening. I've been standing here for 10-20 minutes. I see the bell symbol below my health bar and a wave effect on my character, so I assume it's looking?

How do I get this in Old Yharnam?

The length of this game really is disappointing considering how amazing most of everything else is. I never wanted it to end EVER! At least with DS1 + 2 i sank about 50+ hours before I hit the credits.

Also I've heard NG+ is a bummer as well :/

Well, at least I still have the 2 other endings to try and get.

I really don't have may fears, but one of my very few is
snakes
as irrational as it may be, so a certain
wooded area
isn't much fun haha.

Ahh, I see. So Ludwig is thrust, and certain enemies are resistant to that. Would Ludwig be thrust in both forms?
No clue if I'm being honest. I'd imagine it's blunt in GS mode. You really don't have to worry about it at all, in Demon's Souls it was a bigger deal to know what type of damage you were doing since certain enemies had ridiculous resistances to some, but it this game there aren't any enemies like that.

Decided to try out the Saw Clever again after maining the Kirkhammer for a long time and even though it's stats are significantly lower and doesn't scale as well with my stats it does more damage per attack. I must be missing something here.

Dude, who are you. You're like a walking BB wiki

Is there any merit/demerit at having a high/low Insight?

Because lore-wise, the game seems to basically hint that Insight is what blurs the lines between reality/dream/all the crazy stuff, which is why I think the doll only comes to life after you got 1 Insight.

So from a lore perspective, I'm thinking "more Insight the better", yet at the same time, it's a resource for stuff.

Is it okay to just spend Insights frugally?

around to your left there'll be an area you can drop down to. You'll find an entrance into a building from there. Roll over every breakable item whilst you're in there, as swordspear or whatever it's called is hidden in a pot or other breakable item.

Can we talk about stats again?

Here's mine

Level 71

V 30
E 30
S 24
Sk 12
B 10
A 15

Is this decent? What did you do different than me? How it is it going for you?

What weapon are you using. That SKL is very low if you're using a SKL scaling weapon. STR is a little better, I'd focus entirely on one or the other at this point.

Took down
Vicar Amelia
and the
Witch
today. That's it for me for today since the forbidden woods is scaring the shit out of me. Those
snake men
. Nope.

One thing though, I can't seem to get
Eileen the crow
to show up at the ward for the second stage of her quest. I've spoken to her at the
sewers
and she's no longer there. I've also
unlocked the gates
, but she just doesn't want to show up. There's nothing at
the tombs yet so I'm pretty sure she's still alive

Check where you fought father Gascoigne

I'm level 45 and just beat A
mygdala
after cleaning up R
om
in a single attempt last night :3

Not sure if i'm under-leveled or not for the section after R
om
.

really wish there some sort of indicator showing what the average level of the players in each area was, would make this backwards coop implementation a lot more manageable.

Okay guys, I haven't bought the 10k key yet... how exactly do I get to Amelias cathedral without it?

edit: oh shit, I'll have to go through Old Yharnamn right? fuck.

I found the length to be fine, took me around forty hours for my first playthrough, didnt touch Chalice dungeons, didnt bother with Nightmare Frontier and I know I missed a few bosses as well.

The higher your insight the more you "see" but it does make the game tougher (
fuck it giving those priest the homing lantern magic
) - good outline of what it does here http://bloodborne.wiki.fextralife.com/Insight

Leveling question: I've been leveling mostly Vit, Str and End so far. When should I start leveling other stats? And which ones?

Ahh gotcha, I just notice there was less increase once I hit 25 with those stats :P

Yeah, beat the 3rd.
Before the boss room I could go right, but seems to be a dead and.

How do I make the second dungeon?

If you have beaten the third boss then yes the dungeon is finished, you should of got another chalice as your prize. Root I think?

The entrance to Yahar'gul is DESTROYING me

That area is so much more difficult than any area before because of the respawn. You basically Need to run through everything, kill that woman with the bell (or find her in the first few tries) and then deal with everything you have pulled.

Go right out the door in cathedral ward (up to the tower), drop down around the right side, go through and take the elevator up.

It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure that's how you do it.

Okay, so after beating the second boss F
ather Gasgcoine
, there's a note on the table which says something about the
Spider of Byrthanem(?)
.

Need to know in advance please: Does that type of creature turn up aside from the massive one we saw in promo shots?

I got taken to
Unseen Village
by some dude. How do I get back to where I was before? I stumbled on
Darkbeast Paarl
but I haven't even beat
Vicar Amelia
yet.

Edit: nevermind, I found a lantern.

can someone help me with rom? lvl 55 :/

Fam, i ignored the mobs and directly attacked the boss. Don't lock on, get some hits, roll the fuck away. Use bolt paper for even more damage and always attack his side, never head on. If he summons the meteors, roll diagonally left to right or right to left. I didn't get hit once by them but he didn't last long enough to get off more than 4 barrages. Try to time the first roll as he puts his head down. If he summons the ground shit, just roll away as it's just the area around him.

BSB isn't down yet, so the doors are still closed.

Still can't use beckoning bell anywhere in the amelia area! Please help!

One of the nearby gates can be unlocked with the emblem that you can buy in HD for 10k echoes, my summoning bells started working after I opened that gate. No idea if it's a bug or what, but give that a try.
