No but serious question, don't you have a lack of balance in that posture? Say you weren't able to parry effectively and got hit with a lunge, couldn't you lose your balance or end up falling?
The posture in the picture is THE most stable posture in kenjutsu. It allows you to move in all directions since your legs are not completely stretched so you can always pretty much bounce in any direction. When somebody lunges you, you take a step back, push the opponent's sword aside and immediately follow up with an attack of your own, a good demonstration of that is this Iaido kata (only an example, don't take it literally). Your best chance is to either attack 1st before the opponent has a chance to react or if both you and your opponent have weapons drawn then the advantage falls on the second person attacking.
