Read it a few times in the last few days.

But I knew it as killing things in 1 hit.

Or being killed in one hit.
"Stupid boss just one-shots me"
Like that for example.

It can mean both but I think with the level of HP bosses have here it's usually understood it's referring to tries?

Just beat the BSB, FINALLY, and then FINALLY got 10 insight to shop at the insight store.

Bought the two bells obviously, but then what else should I buy? Are either of the two armor sets in there worth buying? I currently have the two "hunter" armor sets and the priest robes.

damn you guys are making me want to run a str/arc just for ludwigs. beat the game 3x and touched that weapon

It doesn't work that way.
Arcane stats with elemental rune will screw the damage scaling since it will remove all physical scaling form STR/SKL. And each arcane point increases its damage by 2 at S scaling lol...
It is actually a STR/SKL weapon, From is trolling people.

I love reading posts like this because I've killed 2 or 3 more bosses than this but haven't found Paarl yet

I just beat the game (~20 hours, didn't bother with any of the Chalice Dungeons, though), and I never found Paarl. :/

I think I missed a lot of stuff. Time for a new character!

Wait. Did someone say in here that if you get summoned as a cooperator and help the beckoner fight a boss, but you die as the one being summoned before killing the boss, that ends the session for the host too? That's totally different from how the Souls games worked.

Hopefully I'm just misunderstanding what someone else said. Otherwise I feel bad now, I have died while helping people on bosses when they were at less than 20 percent or so.

Question about an NPC side quest.
I finally beat Rom and went over to help Eileen in the Grand Cathedral but that Hunter is running circles around me. I know if I leave her she may die on her own but is there anything that triggers that? I want to go grind or even progress but I don't want to fail the side quest altogether because of it.

Yeah, the term is usually meant to mean that you get killed in one hit. But for Souls games, and I guess Bloodborne, too, a lot of people use the term when they kill a boss in one attempt. Re-read the post you quoted, it makes more sense that he killed a boss in one try instead of killing a boss in one hit, especially if he is in NG.

No way, I prefer Ludwig above any of those weapons and I'm a hardcore dex kind of guy. The moveset is an absolute beast. It covers all the angles, hits like a truck, scales really good, staggers enemies left and right and the combos it has work wonders on bosses. Especially against super mobile ones.
yeah agreed. The dual wield powerstance and now the transformation combos clearly improved on the old ds1 demons' movesets. The old "regular" weapon movesets seem so outdated now in comparison. All of the Bloodborne weapons trump anything in previous games simply owing to the transformation/charge up mechanic.

Wow you beat BSB and didn't have 10 insight before then?

There's two contexts to it.

The first being that you got "one hit killed or one-shot" by a boss or something. Or you killed something in one hit yourself.

The second being that you "one shot the boss, killed it on the first try."

Both are commonly used and both are correct.

Question about the weapon :
Ludwig's Holy Blade
. I have upgraded it to +6, which is where my Hunter Axe is. Now the Holy Blade has a higher PHYSICAL ATK then my Hunter Axe, yet my Hunter Axe does more damage when I hit enemies.

Any ideas why?

Ok I die in the same cheap spot every time over and over in
nightmare frontier
because frenzy debuff explode cheapness. Wtf

Did you read my reply to your post about that area?

Hunter Ax also does Blunt Damage, right? Maybe the enemies you are fighting have a low Blunt ATK defense.

Wait, so the fire rune in my Blade of Mercy is negating any Skill scaling benefits the weapon has?

I think they're just crazy
and have been driven mad by the various events.
I don't think there's any real meaning beyond that.

I think it also ties into the general level of xenophobia they're known to exhibit, a theme thats also strongly represented in a lot of the "behind doors" dialogue (when they arent talking about how
wide
their love of the church is)

you misred.
if the sumoned dies, host continues alone against the boss.

Hahahah. I laughed out loud when I came upon that one.

Only got a proper long session in tonight as opposed to some brief sessions since it came out on Friday.

Took down
Blood Starved Beast
and
Vicar Amelia
, both on first attempts. There was some luck involved admittedly but I'm learning just to have patience, that's the key.. patient approach sitting back and waiting for the right time to strike (In between getting a beating now and again). It's my first Souls-esque game but fuck I'm loving it so far, incredible stuff.

Look at the stats of the weapon before and after placing the rune in. You'll notice that all the attack moves from Physical to Fire. Your points in Skill won't affect the Fire damage, only Arcane will.

I summoned a lot early on and regret it haha.

I bought G
ascoigne's
Armor from the insight shop, I hope I didn't make a mistake

I wouldn't worry too much, you're going to have plenty of insight later. You can also run chalice dungeons, the low level ones to get extra insight if needed.

Claymore was stuck with one moveset though. Ludwig has both a fast and a slow moveset. Claymore also didn't have the scaling of Ludwig. Ludwig is just an all around beast weapon.

You can't compare Ludwig, or any BB weapon really, to previous souls weapons, because they are basically 2 weapons in 1. So you would need to compare it to claymore and some of those fast 1 handers together

I just fought a boss in the chalice dungeon
(bloodletting beast)

Can someone who's beat the game confirm if that's a boss in the main world?

This my last chalice until I beat the game don't want to spoil more for myself

I think this game is fantastic top to bottom but the one sore spot is the pvp/invasion system.

It's just really lame that there doesn't seem to be a way to duel at all, you're stuck invading with a 30% hp deficit which is not fun unless you plan on playing cheap and using monsters to your advantage.

If you're looking for good duels you won't find them here sadly. Shame, that was my favorite aspect of DS2.

I swear I did everything beside the door at the top of the tower which is locked. (the one with lots of urns).

I also did everything if i choose to go down the pit with the secret area and the path that leads you where you can avoid buying that key from the messenger.

Well you are missing what most people consider the 4th boss. I missed her also before I retraced ny steps and jumped down ot a ledge sticking out of a tower. Ill spoiler tag the rest if you dont want me to spell it out, but in case:

start at the cathedral ward go out to the left, go up the stairs stay right then there is the large circular area with two giants...take the second passage on the left, wortk your way up to the top of the tower, either fall off on to a ledge or take the ladder which I never saw unti; after I came up from below but it is there.

On another note, I polished off all three boss in the first Chalice of Pthumeru dungeon:
Un
dead
Gi
ant with Cannon!

Wa
tcher
s

W
atchdog
of the L
ord
s

can anyone tell me if these bosses repeat in the regular game or are they unique to the dungeons?
