My god I love this game. Forbidden woods is insanely huge and easy to get lost. Found the first shortcut which is relieving.

First souls experience and boy am I loving it to death. Slowly creeping it's way up my all time games list.

wait until you find the shortcut that brings you back to the beginning of the game.

Tomb of Oedon + Music Box spoiler:
Gave the Red Brooch back to the little girl and didn't know what I expected in return. Poor girl. Loved how the music box could be used to score easy backstabs in the boss fight though!

Praise Ludwig's sword. At first I didn't like it because it was much slower then my inital starter Saw Blade that I swore by, but I forced myself to make the switch because the damn thing cost me 20k and this 2H option is way to awesome. Stunning enemies and massive damage is where it's at.

Huh? once I got him down to certain amount of health he starts only using melee.

The game is bugged - all three of the last bosses I've faced have either not moved onto stage 2 of the fight (i.e. getting more powerful/aggressive once they're at 30 or 40% health). I managed to abuse a few by baiting out the same counter-able attack out of what are supposedly super hard fights. The boss never deviated from the routine and I just rinsed and repeated until I killed them purely through viscerals.

So is there any way of reliably avoiding R
om's
projectiles or do you just roll and hope for the best (seems like the theme of this fight)? Kind of annoyed the game took me from one boss to another without a real area to do inbetween.

you sure your insight wasn't super high? If so then good news for me I guess.
he used melee all the time as long as I kept close

My insight was like 12 or something. You guys had bugged encounter. His moves:

-Flying Divebomb
-Powerup that makes him immune to backstabs and stagger
-Stabs something in ground, shoots out crap everywhere until you destroy it.
-Big explody skull
-Line of skulls
-That 3 hit melee attack
-That big huge swirly skulls of death
-That aoe explosion

Not to mention 2 phases.

Easily the hardest boss in the game so far.

Do you know who she is? If not you best start knocking on doors in cathedral ward. Send her to the chapel. I don't know if you need to keep talking to her, but there's a particular event near the end game where she moves to another location and you'll need to find her
Yeah, she is in the chapel right now. I'm basically just thinking of where to go next. I just beat the
Shadows of Yharbam
and I'm thinking the next area may be a little high level for me. The hunter upstairs is kicking my ass.

Yep, roll or run in different directions. If you run in the same direction it will guess your pattern so be very random when you dodge or run. (ie: Left/right left/right or serpentine pattern or something)

alright, i think i have 3 areas i can go to now, not sure which one to do first

stuff i've done, in order:

cleric beast, father g, BSB, darkbeast paarl, amelia, shadow of yharnam, witch of hemwick

i also have
cainhurst summons but i didn't see any carriage or whatever in hemwick lane, and a guy gave me an item that i need to take to the area to the right of the cathedral. or i can go to byrgenwerth

the last one sounds like where i need to go. also, i stupidly used the bell to try to get summoned for
shadow of yharnam
even though i'm fully aware of the progression bug, so i don't know if that's going to affect me or not since i already beat the boss

Yeah that hunter was a huge pain in the ass
Difficulty on that fight does not determine if ur ready for the area
However if u continue on in that area a lot of stuff in the main world will change so u may want to go to other areas first anyway

No but you edited your post after I read it so I missed your comment. Thanks! I don't know how to
find the next floor
though. Thanks!

There is a ladder that goes from the floor you need to go down to the one where you were, so look in every room for a ladder going up basically

For some reason I spawned in the second floor already, so I actually missed frontier until I went back there and check that ladder

Nope!

I do wish they had taken just a few things from dark souls 2. Like just 1 respec would have been nice.

I also mice bonfire ascetics

For all the sh*t that DkS2 gets about being 'B Team', they actually did a lot of stuff better.

1) Showing a picture next to a warp zone's name (we have three on the first tombstone with variations of church/cathedral etc. Shit is confusing yo).
2) Allowing for a respec - it's an RPG, you never know what you like until you've been using it for ages. I wasted some points in arcane just to try the spells I got and was totally unimpressed. Regret that a bit now.
3) Bosses may not have been as memorable as BB or DkS1 but at least they always used their entire move-set. Massive AI glitches in this game.
4) More variety in the environments (although nowhere near as intricately designed).
5) Matchmaking that actually worked properly on launch, the first for a Souls game (and only one so far).
6) Easier comparison of stats in vendors between your equipped armour/weapons.
7) DkS2 didn't force you into NG+ straight away in case you wanted to go back and finish up odds and ends.

Ok I am really confused and I'm not sure if I experienced a glitch or not. I don't know where to go next in my game to progress the story. Please help.

So I defeated Rom, and then I saw a scene and then I teleported to (Unseen village?) a big round tall room, and then I got killed by a big spider thing (I think it was "The One Reborn") that was hiding above me. And then I revived in the lecture hall. And then I went to the nightmare frontier and killed the boss. And now I am in Hunter's dream and I can teleport to the lecture Building and I can teleport to the nightmare frontier but I can't teleport to the Unseen village (it wont allow me) and I don't know how to get to the second floor of the lecture Building (if that
is what I am supposed to do).

EDIT2: was the teleport that I described above what is normally supposed to happen?

EDIT:

Oh OK I will go look for that now. lol

Huh? once I got him down to certain amount of health he starts only using melee.

He DEFINITELY bugs out.

On my 2nd playthrough with a new char now and my first time around he never did any spells except the skull bolts and the flowing orb. This time around hes fucking insane. Tons of magic, a different mechanic, everything. This isn't NG+ this is just a straight up new game.

Just killed
Rom.

Taking a break from pve. Been doing alot of invading. Forbidden Forest is the perfect invasion map. Tons of traps at my disposal. There's been quite a few times where I was out numbered 3 to 1. Made use of all the traps and mob ambushes I could.

Prey Slaughtered.

Feels good to win when the odds are against you.

My version was exactly like this except he stop using magic after I got him down to a certain amount and started using the moves that I bolded

U need to go back to the room where u got grabbed and continue through that doorway to the unseen village
It is to the right of vicar Amelia area when u are on ur way up the stairs past a big church with two hunters in front of it and down a ways
Just don't get grabbed again

So I ended up in the Hypogean Gaol earlier in the game after a Snatcher killed me. Upon leaving the place I ran into Dark
Beast Paarl
and got wiped out. Anyways I'm now level 55, went back to fight him and damn, he's such a pushover, despite his awesomely imposing looks.

I even think that, had I gone back straight away after my first encounter with him before when I was much lower level, I could have still killed him with ease. Not sure if it was because I was using Kirkhammer+5 (w/ Bolt Paper buff) but he barely got a chance to stand up. Pretty sure I stunned the poor guy 3 times in a row with the hammer mode activated. Even his patterns are quite easy to deal with and he leaves himself open quite often, especially if you stay underneath him.

Fun fight, though. Man, this game. THIS GAME!

For the life of me I cannot beat fucking
Rom
. His projectiles eventually get me and that's it.

Wow. Got him on my first try. I thought he was a pretty stupid boss. I usually just ran towards him when he shot projectiles and rolled at the last second. Dodged most of them that way.

Hrm. From what I understand, that's the area where you fight
Rom.
I'm trying to think of some stuff that I haven't done yet, but I really don't know. There's that one area with the teleporting hand... That's really all I know of. Hrm.

Enjoy the nightmare fuel that is the run to the actual necessary boss in that area.

what's a good level to invade at forbidden? I was trying to invade around there at level 60, and figured maybe my level was too high because I couldn't get any invasions.

I am feeling physically ill by the prospect of fighting Blood Starved Beast again T___T

Especially after I ran out of Fire Paper.................................

And I am level 30-ish too, should be enough, I think, but I just............ hate everything about this fight... especially the poison and how he can pretty much decimate me even from full health once he grabbed me due to that poison BS......................... URGH.

Yeah it really fucking bugs me when games dont do this, I mean I know "the stats dont matter" but its such a rudimentary feature

My version was exactly like this except he stop using magic after I got him down to a certain amount and started using the moves that I bolded

If you
backstab him
during his phase transition he's weaker in the second phase I believe (either that or he finally glitched for me and thats how I beat him)

Beat the fifth boss at the end of the
Hemwick Charnel Lane.

By far the easiest boss fight in the game. Took me two tries because I didn't get the gimmick and
didn't see the second health bar at the bottom and got stunnlocked and killed.

Also, Saw Spear is so good. Got this thing at +6 and I'm doing work with it.

Ok so I have a few fire/bolt "bloodgems", but I have no idea how to make them work because they don't scale for FUCK with STR or SKILL. Whats the point of them? Like I made my Luciens sword FIRE but it was garbage compred to my Kirkhammer that was all STR. How do we get Fire weps to be good?

I'm level 48 and invade non stop. Been invading for the past 4 hours now. My down time between invasions is usually less than a minute.

Ok thanks! I am not sure how to find it. I will look though.

Once you applied elemental effects on your weapons, I think they all scale using Arcane instead, so if your Arcane sucks, well they're gonna be suck too. I think.
