question -

I have 18 Insight but the upper Bath Messengers won't sell me anything yet. they just have the dumb top hat option. is that normal? am I missing something ?

dark beast paarl?
There are guys who walk around and carry big bags in the graveyard areas, the first one i found was in the healing church when i dropped to the bottom of the tower. They're pretty tough, if they kill you you wake up in a jail and from there you're in a new place. DBP is in this location, I found him by accident and so far the hardest boss i've encountered.

He's hard at first because your underleveled when you first arrive. He's not so bad really. Just don't lock on and hit the back legs.

So I'm diffently getting platinum in this game. My main story is at last area. So before giong there I need that second boss in upper cathedral (Etorias or something like that), Cainhurst, and Nightmare Frontier currently my play time is 40 hours. Thats seems really long compared to others games but i have explored everywhere lol. Oh and I need few more chalices for that one trophie.

Also psn xxRONN1Nxx add me im currently lvl 63 i think. would love to chat and do some chalices and maybe coop

Okay, this Chalice Dungeon crafting stuff is needlessly complex. I'm late in the game and want to check it out but in order to make a dungeon appropriate for my level, I need to use materials that I don't have. To get those materials I need to do a dungeon that's slightly easier, and to get those materials I need to do a dungeon that's slightly easier, etc. etc. until I'm down at the easiest possible dungeon where I kill everything in one hit. I'm going to have to explore a bunch of boring dungeons because they felt the need to have like ten different types of Ritual Blood but couldn't even be bothered to come up with unique names. I went to the shop because I thought I just needed to by enough Ritual Blood but it turns out I bought a bunch of Ritual Blood (1) when I needed Ritual Blood (3). The shop only sells Ritual Blood (1), by the way.

I'm often defending From's obtuse designs and desire to contextualize online interactions to items instead of menus, but this just complex to the point of frustrating.

Forbidden Woods
the next area I should be going for?

That's really weird, especially since that's not where you get the top hat lol

Did you not beat cleric beast?

The type of blood gem sockets it has.

Different gems fit into them, so you can customize the weapon to your liking.
Thanks. Only thing I dislike about the holy sword is if you're trying to combo it with R1, the transformation attack is slower when coming from the hunter's axe. Besides that I either use the straight sword, back off if I seitching to the great sword. The L2 slam is great with the great sword form.

yes

After 25 you get like 40% less stats though. So instead of getting 5 attack you might get 3.

It's not really a soft cap but you do get less value compared to 1-25. And then again after 50.

So it's slight cap at 25, soft cap at 50 and hard cap at 99.

I am from US so 3 and a half hours from now.

You can buy some chalice materials with insight.

I had mine at +5 and it was amazing. Ya it take alot of sta and the damage is same with say the axe... but ludwigs shines because of it's stagger. You hit an enemy first, and you've won.

This is pretty much my strategy at this point. Stagger > Swagger.

yes beat Bosses 1 and 2 (Gaz)

the option is just the DLC cosmetic hats for the messengers themselves... but there's no "store" option ir whatever

Are you talking to the Messengers south of the storage? The ones on the side don't sell anything.

Once you reach 40+ Arcane you should see that A bonus scaling better and thus outputting more damage. What I really like about Arcane builds though is that I can mix it up with spells and flamethrowers while still having the LHB/Tonitrius for heavy melee damage.

I believe it doesn't cost anything to invade but if you fail to kill your opponent then you lose 1 Insight.

I mean can a 99 insight character invade a 10 insight character?

I agree completely, it's terrible design. I actually used the item duplicate glitch for the chalice materials, couldn't be bothered to farm the lower chalice dungeons ad infinitum to gain entrace to a new one.

I'm currently in the Defiled chalice dungeon, the last one before the dungeon that contains the trophy boss. The second boss, Watch dog, was insane with 50% hp since his charge one hits you. I'm at Amygdala with 50% hp now, this will be fun.

Never experienced as much shame as I did when I dumbly jumped toward a guy with a rifle and he shot me mid-air and I just fell and ate dirt..

So are the caps the same for all stats?

So, gonna try to get that cannon/Axe combo that Ela is rocking on his speed run.

Apparently the Axe is just a better str weapon than the fulkhammer despite scaling because of the moveset. I guess it just works out to be more damage. Which is a bummer since my hammer is +10 and can't switch to the axe till I get the bloodrock.

I defeated BSB a while ago and opened the door to V
icar Amelia
. I'm not fighting that boss yet but I assume it's the natural progression after BSB? Also, that locked door in the Cathedral Ward is now open and leads to an elevator. I don't know if I should take it.

I think you went to the stump behind the house. That one is just for putting accessories on the Messengers. Go inside the house and exit from the side door (directly across from the Storage). The insight merchant will be in a tiny fountain on the ledge outside.

I think you're at the wrong one. Just to the left only where you enter the house going up the stairs by the doll, there's a door with a different bath.

Edit: beat by an inch

You can for some items and another direction to the same door you're at. Other part will be locked.

You are on the right track.

Question for those who have beaten the game:
Does defeating Gehrman take me straight into NG+ or is it like DS2 where I can still clean up afterwards?

Does chikage only do blood damage in transform mode? Can't tell myself.

Yes, Chikage only gets it's Blood ATK bonus in 2H mode and its damage in 2H mode is Blood damage.

Say you have a Chikage +10 that looks like this:

Physical ATK 184
Thrust +200
Blood +200

In 1H mode it only uses its Strength and Skill scaling and base damage + Thrust bonus. So it would have 384 ATK (and it will show that on the character stat sheet).

When you transform it to 2H mode it adds in the Bloodtinge scaling bonus and gives you the Blood ATK on top of that for a total of + 584.

For the Gun Swords that use Blood scaling - that bonus goes to their Gun attack damage.

you cant call something better because of the move set. a move set is completely subjective and dependant on personal taste, its not a fact

I would take the hammer's charge R2 over anything the axe has for example

I got on the elevator with 9000 Echoes, thought oh shit, and jumped off just in time

Well I only went at him once and i had like 24000 echos.
I saw him from afar too and was like hmmm this area seems a bit open would they put a boss here? Uh yeah, what was I thinking this is a Souls game after all. HA. I ran back in and grabbed my souls and like a big chicken warped out of the fight. I felt like I wasn't suppose to be there yet, but I should go back and try to fight him again.
The fear was real though. Ha. Love this game.

Its because of the range of the axe, is how they were explaining it. The moveset is just better for dmg, I guess. I mean, they use it for mostly all the bosses so it must be the best for a reason. Which is okay, because I like the spin attack on the Axe. Since so many bosses have high up crit points the axe is just really good.

Finally done with the game, what a ride. Best out of all Souls.
Ended at lvl 65, cane +10, all bosses solo'ed except Ebrietas which I couldn't kill cause of the elevator glitch still from the co-op runs I found it the hardest boss by a mile. Gehrman was kinda easy or my cane op. Still have the true ending to finish after I gather remaining weapons and items.

Memorable locations

1. Old Yharnam
1. Cainhurst castle
1. Hemwick's lane
1. Forbidden forest
1. Nightmare frontier

Fuckin love this game.

Yah like I said, he's tougher when you first get there. I was in the same boat and just kept trying until I finally got super lucky.

You can buy some chalice materials with insight.

Not Ritual Blood, which is required for every single Chalice Ritual and has multiple different variations. All I can get right now is Ritual Blood (1). If I want any other kind of Ritual Blood I need to find it in a Chalice Dungeon. The only kind of Chalice Dungeon you can make with Ritual Blood (1) is the easiest one, and the Ritual Blood found inside is only good for making the next few difficulty levels. I'll soon move from enemies that go down in one hit to enemies that go down in two and move up until I'm at a level appropriate dungeon. I couldn't even level up after killing all three bosses in the easiest Chalice Dungeon. One of the bosses was just a pig.

Quoting myself, check it out if you wanna see a fun secret end-game!

This is ridiculously awesome, lol. I love stupid shit like this. I hope we're finding out about them for months.

Also, I never found Eileen in the first area. Does she just disappear if you don't talk to her initially?

So far
celestial emissary
was the easiest boss for me. One try. First boss of the game i killed first attempt. Weird thing is the stage leading up to him was difficult and rather stressful. Was there a point to this stage.

Okay so I killed an NPC by mistake..Long story short I was speed running back to a gate and I saw someone standing there and I was like I'm gonna kill this one..Yeah. Anyways he dropped this weapon to be purchased

It's a wheel that hits pretty darn hard and if you press L2 it spins and if you keep spinning it it'll start taking your health down but add more attack to your hits and you have to close it to stop it from killing you.
