I open a door and suddenly 8 possessed spiders come and pike on me (I luckily did beat them back). But you should have seen look on my face! :lol

I find myself using specific attacks for short enemies. The L1 attack with Ludwig's Holy Blade in great sword mode works great.

Yeah, that's what I do. Just wish the normal attacked worked so I kill things faster.

My laptop refused to let me post this for some reason.

About to enter my final Chalice Dungeon. Once this is done I'll finally have the Platinum.
(Chalice Spoiler)
Defiled Chalice can go to hell however.

If they fix the matchmaking, PVP in this game will be really really fun.

Dark II would have the best PVP in the series if not for Soul Memory, imo.

Just beat the
Abhorrent Beast
in the
Loran
chalice dungeon after quite a few runs (I did not want to cheese it). So relieved to be past it.

First boss in the next chalice dungeon (
Lower Loran
)?
Abhorrent Beast in a smaller room.

Cruel game :)

I could survive a hit from it when I fought her but I never found a reliable means of dodging it.
Ultimately I beat her by strafing to her left (your right) and attacking her back.

Yeah, playing it safe doesn't really work for my build since my weapon is too short. The dodge -> R1 is fucking insane though. Worked great during the fight.

Has the loading issues been taken care of or is that going to be tackled in a future patch. I got the game but wondering if I should play Shadows of Modor until the loading is taken care of.

Also for a first timer is there a history that you should pick first?

I'm usually against respec in souls games, but I'm kinda worried the whole gem thing might make it so creating new builds isn't really a lot of fun.

The only viable alt build I can think of (meaning you would have to do it from scatch unless you went to lvl 200) is the Skill/Blood build I could see that being fun and forcing you to actually utilize blood bullets.

I want to do that but only after I ravage the game on my 50 40 50 50 build. I just cant see there being any viable arcane builds.

DLC needs to add weapons that force you into a very spefic build in order to use them properly.

Lone Survivor for the high Vitality, then saw Cleaver for a fairly balanced weapon (Attack and speed wise)

This is my second dude and I'd rather avoid ever entering a chalice dungeon ever again lol

This is also a bit of a fuck up for PVP. Chalice Dungeons are, at least the ones I played so far, boring as hell.

Shitty level design (a lot worse than I feared it would be when they announced it would be procedural), mostly shitty bosses, it's just not fun at all.

The base game is great, but if I have to do chalice dungeons to get competitive builds for PVP, that will really ruin PVP in this game for me.

At least the all bosses speedruns are fun as hell.

they are an issue early game.

Early game you die more and the1st 2 zones (Central and Old Yarnem) have the longest load times in the game. Once you reach mid game you die less because you know what you are doing and the zones load faster (seems to be 20-30 seconds for me, with one zone only being 10s tops).

I would pick military veteran, decent starting vit, and balanced start between skill and str.

am i the only one that has played 90% of the game with just the saw cleaver? the attacks are so fast in the shorter mode and the switches work seamlessly. haven't been able to bring myself to switch to any of the other weapons i have yet

Level 75 and getting absolutely wrecked in the unseen village. Do I need to do more level grinding or is there somewhere else I should be after the forbidden woods?

80 hours of play time and I feel silly asking this. Cb, fg, and witches are the only bosses I could kill if I want to save bsb until after I kill Paarl, right? So the only path to take now is Amelia?

Are chalice dungeons harder on NG+, or are they the same?

much harder. I felt depth 3 chalice was around late NG early NG+. Depth 4 feels like late NG+, Depth 5 is harder than anything in NG+ (maybe akin to N++ but I have not gone to NG++).

then you add in the defiled chalices..... The depth 4 defiled chalice is the hardest thing I have ever done in a video.... so so hard.

L
oran Darkbeast
is actual bullshit

Just youtubed that to see what it was. That's pretty lazy.

I don't even mean in the design kind of way, because it's obviously supposed to be a rehashed boss, but lorewise,
Paarl isn't a real Darkbeast, as far as I was able to understand, right? So it makes no sense that the Loran Darkbeast would look like Paarl instead of looking like the other darkbeasts.

you could do that to in dark souls.
okay, sometimes summonin failed, but you didn't have to wait.

but it would all be different, if those stupids bells would work

I don't remember being able to run around freely in dark souls.

I remember having to click on summons sign after summons sign in the start of an area (or other 'popular' spot hoping one would connect. And as a summonee, you couldn't leave the area -- for example, on the way to the abyss/4kings, you could drop your signs at the very beginning but as soon as you started across the very first bridge you'd get a message that your sign disappeared. Basically, you were locked down.

Bells (theoretically) allow you to ring whenever/whereever, and then run around the level.

I grant that it's not working perfectly, but in and of itself it's a really nice improvement over bells. However, I do agree some sort of indicator that people need/offer help would be nice too... a middle ground, if you will. I'm not sure what that would be, though.

Finally beat Ebrietas. Jesus fuck I must've fought this thing 30 times and finally beat it with literally 1HP left. I got trapped in a corner and just kept wailing on her

Heart was pounding so much after that I had to go take a walk

I just went back to hunters dream and had a weird thing happen.
The doll had reverted back to a doll. I could interact with it, but only to level up. "Talk" was not an option. Is this something significant or just a bug? She was back to normal the next time I came back.

I assume you have no insight? You need insight for her to be alive again (but you can still level up)

Where did you find lore about Paarl?

One of my least favorite things about this game is the lack of boss souls to examine for lore snippets.

I am level 65 or so and I was realllly struggling there. I basically just sprinted through looking for gems and shortcuts. I'd recommend exploring some other areas and looking for items to help level up your weapons. I found some useful gems that have made getting through the level a lot easier.

You should be more than fine. Seems like you need to put more points into vitality. The trick of the unseen village is to
kill the bell ladies
asap as they not only keep respawning enemies they also make them stronger. I beat unseen village at that level.

Not directly on Paarl, but Archibald, who was fascinated by the darkbeasts and the natural lightning they emanate. Paarl drops the Spark Hunter Badge, which says:

"Badge crafted in secret by Archibald, the infamous eccentric of the Healing Church, for his friends.

Archibald was fascinated by the blue sparks that emanate from the hides of the darkbeasts, and dedicated his life to its artificial reproduction. in a style of inquiry that, incidentally, closely followed the methodology of Byrgenwerth."

It's a secret badge Archibald gave to his closest friends, I just assume Paarl was one of those friends, and the hunter badge artifical lightning properties kept working even after Paarl went mad and became a beast himself. Which is why his lightning isn't constant, as the actual darkbeasts you fight (like the cannibal), but instead kind of a buff Paarl constantly casts on himself, and you can interrupt by staggering him.

I assumed Paarl was one of Archibald's closets friends, and, because of his lightning powers that kept working even after he became a beast, he was given the name Darkbeast Paarl.

Either that, or Paarl was never human and was actually an artificial Darkbeast invented by Archibald and locked down there, but then it wouldn't make much sense to mention "for his friends" in the badge description. Or rather, it would make sense, because the artifical reproduction part would still be important, but it shouldn't drop from Paarl, but instead be found in a body near him, or something like that.

I have everything I need for the best ending. What do I need to do so I can do it all on this run rather than on NG+ runs?

Do the
good ending 1st. If you save that for last you wont have the burial blade for NG+. The bad and true ending both reward you with the burial blade.

That's where I ended up last night and chime maidens can go to hell. I plan on sprinting through that place.
