HOLYSHIT I killed the NPC in Forbidden Woods.
You find him in that big windmill building right after the cannonball enemy. He asks for a safe haven. I told him Iosefka'. But I see him feasting on corpse of a child presumably' the one of two adults besides him. So I try stabbing him and burn him, and he transforms into super hard electric beast! That was crazy

Alright, I think I'm going to cave and get help with
Amygdala in the defiled chalice dungeon
. I've solo'd the vast majority of the game so I don't feel bad about this. I just really want to get through these dungeons and get the platinum. Does summoning work the same way in the dungeons as elsewhere?

Just beat the
Abhorrent Beast
in the
Loran
chalice dungeon after quite a few runs (I did not want to cheese it). So relieved to be past it.

First boss in the next chalice dungeon (
Lower Loran
)?
Abhorrent Beast in a smaller room.

Cruel game :)

At first I thought it was Chalice Dungeon exclusive boss and then I met the fucker on my second playtrough in the Forbidden Woods. For some reason I really like to fight with him :)

I can finally post again. I'm really saddend by the fact that I got banned in the review thread. I missed the launch and four OT. Don't make Polygon jokes in review thread; you'll catch a ban for it.

So I am really enjoying the game so far. I got the elevator glitch leading to
Ebrietas
. Is there any way to fix this? I'm not beating the game until it's fixed. As a result I've been doing chalice dungeon and I have enjoyed them so far. While lurking I read a lot of complaints about the
Bloodletting Beast
but I really liked the fight. I haven't faced the headless version though soooo.

that souls game intuition kicking in at the right time eh?

One of the scariest moments in the game for me. Thought he died... and BAM. Scariest werewolf ever.

Started new game +, I think I underleveled and I forgot how to fight certain enemies. Only took 20% of Cleric Beast's life. :P

It's really easy to stagger him with the damage you do on NG+, though. Especially if you have a weapon with good range.

With the scythe, I could just spam charged R2s in front of him and I'd stagger him for a visceral attack every one or two hits.

I think he has the most meh questline of all the Yurts so far (with Lautrec's being the best by far), but he makes up for it with the best fight. It was really awesome to fight him. Nice dialogue, too, and possible lore implications on the Beast Blood Pellets.

Go into Settings ----> Saved Data Management. You can upload your current save to the cloud, Then redownload it when you want to
See the different endings

Do the
good ending 1st. If you save that for last you wont have the burial blade for NG+. The bad and true ending both reward you with the burial blade.
So if I want to see all of them, I first get my latest save on my USB drive then do the following:

Do the good ending and keep that save, upload it.

Copy over my save, do either bad or true.

Copy over again and do the one I missed? I'm afraid that if I quit, my save will be overwritten in the cloud.

I'll try, the truth is that I do much less damage than before, I tried to use the Scythe but even if it's +6 is not on par on my Ludwig's Sword and Blade of Mercy so I left it waiting for upgrades.
I started the battle and did hits with Blade's and L2 sword but I only took 20-25% of Cleric's life... Now I remember that you can stagger his head, right?

I can not seem to get a summon for
Rom
. I've helped a number of people kill him and get summoned in seconds, but I've waited twice now for 20 min with no luck :-/

I'm still taking a break from this fucking game because of Rom, but I tried it again today and got him down to 1/4.

If I had bolt papers, this might have went far better. But yeah, fuck you Rom I'll be back you little shit.

once you realize that Bloodletting beast is just a bigger faster version of the cleric beast (mechanics wise) he become very very simple. Roll left, get 2 hits in double or triple roll back out regain stanima and do it again and again.

I wonder if they plan to fix the issue with enemies being too small = you can't hit them... I really hate this. Even if we are on level plane, the targeting system doesn't work well against enemies too small, like small individual snakes/ga'uld or that small mud thing in the chalice dungeon. Game's weapon swing just goes slightly above. You'd think that even though you are looking at it, your character would be smarter and aim lower. :/
that is "a problem" since demon' souls.
you just need the right weapon.

So someone mentioned that the Doll's finger in the Abandoned workshop twitches and... it does!
Doll's finger.

can someone gif that?

Level 75 and getting absolutely wrecked in the unseen village. Do I need to do more level grinding or is there somewhere else I should be after the forbidden woods?

level should be fine.
just running helps.
80 hours of play time and I feel silly asking this. Cb, fg, and witches are the only bosses I could kill if I want to save bsb until after I kill Paarl, right? So the only path to take now is Amelia?
sorry, but what?
i don't understand what you want. :D
you don't need to kill BSB to beat the game.

I don't remember being able to run around freely in dark souls.

I remember having to click on summons sign after summons sign in the start of an area (or other 'popular' spot hoping one would connect. And as a summonee, you couldn't leave the area -- for example, on the way to the abyss/4kings, you could drop your signs at the very beginning but as soon as you started across the very first bridge you'd get a message that your sign disappeared. Basically, you were locked down.

Bells (theoretically) allow you to ring whenever/whereever, and then run around the level.

I grant that it's not working perfectly, but in and of itself it's a really nice improvement over bells. However, I do agree some sort of indicator that people need/offer help would be nice too... a middle ground, if you will. I'm not sure what that would be, though.

well, you cant leave the area in BB either.
and after you put your sign down, or clicked on a sign, you could go and start playing the level.

I would have never found it on my own.
why not?
i did.
you just have to cross the bridge.

nope, you have to wait for the next patch.
if that one will even fix that.

Cainhurst Castle could be a $60 game in itself.
lol.
no, not realy.
cainhurst didn't have a lot of contant.

Has the loading issues been taken care of or is that going to be tackled in a future patch. I got the game but wondering if I should play Shadows of Modor until the loading is taken care of.

Also for a first timer is there a history that you should pick first?

no to both.

play mordor.

If you told him that, you don't need to do anything anymore since she will do the job for you... lol.

I just got massively spoiled on a certain boss by an unmarked spoiler in another thread that wasn't a spoiler thread. Fucking hell.

That's correct.

Two shots should be enough on NG, but on NG+ it's more effective to attack his head than to just shoot it at a safe distance. Takes a lot more shots.

no. upload to USB. Beat the game. Redownload the old save. Beat the game. Redownload old save. Beat the game again now play NG+.

you might have been right, I just was not sure by the way I read your post.

come on, do it legit.

Really? I ran through it in twenty minutes..

yeah, I don't get it either.
cool location, but not even worth 10 $/€.

Quick question guys:(spoiler alert for the hemlock area)

I defeated the Pearl Boss surprisingly on my first try(I read a tip to focus on his legs and got off two critical strikes) however boy did he keep me on my toes, after that I decided since I nearly died and my Vitality was crap I was going to increase it by 2 levels.(

So I went to Hemlock area or whatever it is called where the witches are and when I entered one area, this cut-scene played and some carriage appeared,I left it alone, will it disappear if I ignore it for too long?

Thanks.(I love this game, between this and Pillars of Eternity I'm having a blast)

Finally beat him after a bunch of wipes. My suggestion:
bring bolt papers. Kill ALL of the the little spiders by hitting their fleshy backs and running around. When they're all dead, bolt paper your weapon and beat the shit out of him. I got him down to 1/3 before he even teleported doing this. Keep hitting when he tries to teleport. Kill all of the spiders again if you can take a blast from Rom.

Dalibor: Go. There's a lamp shortly afterwards.

Someone spoiled the
Gehrman fight in the flowers.

I am so pissed off. I resisted clicking on so many spoiler tags, and then Some asshole posts what's probably one of the biggest surprises in the game without any spoiler tags.

Bloodletting Beast can suck a big fat fucking dick....dude fuckin insta death my ass with his falcon punch....he was about to die!!!

good question.

you could just enter it and the use the lamp there to teleport back and then go back there later.

I attacked him and he killed me when I went back he's not there. I never told him where to go should I be worried?
Also, just killed the Amy boss and now the old lady is gone but left a letter was she killed or this is normal.

take the carriage, get the lamp at the new location it unlocks and come back and do what you want. I dont think it disapeers but I would not risk it.

How could From fuck up MP so bad after 4 identical games ? I'm waiting at least 15-20min in front of a boss and I very, very rarely get anyone to join me.

Bloodletting Beast can suck a big fat fucking dick....dude fuckin insta death my ass with his falcon punch....he was about to die!!!

my only advice would be to make sure you have enough vit to survive a one hit against any boss you face. know how much health their hardest attack takes and use a vial everytime you get below that threshold.

can't figure out the third phase of Ge
hrman, when he goes up in the air and sends that wind thing.
Any tips?

Yeah that's some bullshit. Got to that phase last night and died. Was too late so I figured I would try again tonight. Will pay attention this time and actually try to figure out what it is that he's doing right there

Can somebody tell me what the locked door is about that's next to the chest in Cathedral Ward? To find it you go down the stairs from the grand cathedral and go past two big guys with bricks, some crows, and a big church guy with a wrecking ball.

Anyone get that open yet???

Some numbers with Ludwig's +10 and 50/50/50 for Strength/Skill/Arcane.

Physical Gems: +21.6%, +22.3%, 23.1%
200 Base +683 Bonus, 863 ATK total. 943 with Arcane/Fire/Bolt buff.

Arcane Gems: + 2x Fire ATK Up +18.8%, 1x Fire ATK Up + 20.6% & Add Fire ATK +13.5
200 base +408 bonus, 608 total.

That's the best ones I currently have (with no -Beast ATK), 335 ATK difference.

So evening the playing field a bit with 2x 18.8% Phys Gems and 1x 21.5% Phys ATK and Add Phys ATK +8.1 Puts it to 200+616 = 816 + Paper = 896. Still a 288 ATK difference plus you get to change the Arcane/Fire/Bolt damage type at will.

So I decided to go take some swings at Villagers around the Central Yharnam Lamp.

Phys Ludwig (816) = 734 per hit.
Phys + Fire Paper (896) = 757 per hit.
Phys + Bolt Paper (896) = 754 per hit.
Phys + Arcane Shell (896) = 757 per hit.
Fire Ludwig (608) = 537 per hit.

Then I purposely dropped my Phys-only ATK down to 608 to match the pure Fire Ludwig.

Phys2 Ludwig (608) = 530 per hit.

So clearly pure Arcane-type damage doesn't have any real bonus over Physical ATK on something with Normal resistances.

Time to go hit some Beasts in Old Yharnam. They're weak to fire.

Fire Ludwig (608) = 821 per hit.
Phys Ludwig (816) = 726 per hit.
Phys + Fire Paper (886) = 777 per hit.
Phys + Bolt Paper (886)= 752 per hit.
Phys + Arcane Shell (886)= 749 per hit.
Phys2 Ludwig (608) = 512 per hit.

I also went ahead and tested with my much better Phys Gems:

Phys3 Ludwig (863) = 773 per hit.
Phys3 +Fire Paper (943) = 824 per hit.

So, I guess in a low-level build where you're only raising one ATK stat than an Arcane Gem weapon with Good Arcane scaling is a viable option. However, if you don't have good Arcane scaling or don't care about keeping your levels at a certain point then Physical + Buffs is the better way to go. There are a lot of mobs that simply have no specific weakness and your Physical ATK will be end up much higher and will do a lot more damage to those enemies. There may be an enemy here or there that you do a little bit more damage on, but you'd do a lot less damage on everything else.

If you're going all the way to 50 Strength, 50 Skill, 50 Arcane then you could just totally swap things around if you felt like it depending on the area and the boss. Keep a Physical weapon for certain enemies and Arcane-type for others Though personally I'd just stick with a pure Physical weapon and + Buff items since, in my experience, high level Physical gems are much, much easier to come by and you can't really get any good Arcane Gems unless you get deep into Chalice Dungeons.
