Bloodborne |OT+++| ...and so the Nightly Hunt continues

Encountered a glitch during the Vicar Amelia fight. After her grab attack, I held back to move away, but instead moved forward, I initially though this saw some sort of "confuse" status effect, but quickly realized it a glitch. had to finish the fight with flipped controls, and after I beat her I could only walk forward until I used a hunters mark.

I would guess since I had a health regen blood gem it must have ticked up at the same time I died and I was left in this wierd state.

Dahbomb are you playing / going to play Sins?

God I missed ragdolls.

I have a 50 in str skill and arc atm

you kept it way too balanced lol. I guess the upside is that you can switch gems depending on what you feel like, but going to arcane you're gonna lose all that STR/SKILL scaling. So I'd still stick around with STR/SKILL and pure physical, then use a fire/lightning paper or empty phantasm shell for the extra damage.

Is it bad that I've stuck with the Saw Cleaver this long? Nothing else I've found does as much damage (Kirkhammer, Tonitrus, etc.). It's at +6 at the moment, but nothing else has stronger base damage (I believe Saw Cleaver starts at +90).

I haven't found the Ludwig Holy Blade some of you are talking about. And I'm hoping that I didn't just imagine that there are katanas in this game, because they looked amazing. This game is pure torture for the rabid completionist inside of me.

What should be the weapon of choice in physical damage terms for someone who's just reached Nightmare and Unseen headstones?

What a trip, by the way, these two areas have been
lol.gif
There is a katana, you could try and go for it where you are in the game, the boss that blocks it isn't the easiest of fights though(unless it bugs), meaning you've probably already committed to another build by that point(You want to put points into bloodtinge to make it work well). I've heard it gets really good if you have the gems and the build for it mind you.

I personally used Ludwig's, but I'm a bit weird in that I used the 1h form 99% of the time, lol. Most people use it for the 2h form because it has good damage and has decent stagger potential.

I think Ludwig's damage is slightly higher than the cleaver, but not by much.

Edit: But it's worth noting Ludwig's has better stat scaling so the damage increase becomes more substantial as you upgrade the weapon and your str/skill.

Well I had no choice, all my stats are maxed :P

Where is this npc anyways? Haven't run into them yet and I think I'm about halfway through this playthrough.
Go back to where you first started the game, then run up the stairs. You can talk to her there. You won't be able to get into her crib until you reach
The Forbidden Woods
.

so whats the gaf consensus better, slightly worse or equal to dark souls ?

On the whole, I'd put it a bit below Dark Souls (or Dark Souls 2), but not by much. It's a great game but it has some bad missteps (length, build variety, replay value, etc.) that drop it for me. I'd love to see the series continue though and make the one game to top them all (or another spiritual sequel with BB ideas that can be on PC, lol).

For me it's Dark = Dark 2 > BB >>> Demon's.

So what's required as far as the chalice dungeons go for the trophy? Also what's the best loot to target in there?

What's the best weapon to use after the axe for a strength build? So far all I've used is the axe +3

Any weapon can be used till end game. They're balanced for certain types of enemies—if you have STR as your main stat, then I'd go for the Kirkhammer along with your Axe, because it gives you Thrust and Blunt attacks which the Axe lacks. Some enemies (like the squid fuckers and mushroom boys) take increased damage from stabby moves, like the Kirkhammer (sword version)'s R2.

Hmm is there only one visceral attack animation per enemy? This is my go-to move for my playstyle but it's a little disappointing in comparison to all the backstab and riposte animations if so.

oh well, still need to get any items that make it more awesome.

Jesus Christ the W

H
emwick
are so fucking easy, but bullshit keeps happening.

This shit happens every playthrough I've done.

That's not BS. It's a boss that's actually challenging in NG+ and beyond. The stun locks are real. I love watching people who wiped her in one-go on their first playthrough suffer the indignity of getting your ass handed to you several times before learning how to dodge that sh*t properly.

All weapons share the same visceral attack, yeah.

You can buff the VA with Caryll Runes (this game's closest equivalent to rings in the Souls games).

I think I've hit my first roadblock in Bloodborne (and probably souls games in general).

Defiled Chalice layer 2 boss, don't want to level because soul level for PvP, but I want the Ithyll chalice because it has the chalice glyphs for the weapons I want (Lost Blades of Mercy / Uncanny Chikage etc).

I gotta play perfectly because Blades of Mercy is super short range and I die in one hit.

Just a little PSA for anyone trying to grind out some blood echoes to level up: This game is way less stingy than the Souls games when it comes to selling items. I sold of a couple of armour sets and blood gems I'll never use and made around 120,000 echoes.

Yup it surprised me how much more difficulty that boss and Shadows became in NG+ due to the increased health. Martyr has incredibly difficult too in NG+. Fought Cleric Beast in NG++ earlier, that fight is seriously exciting and close every time. Love it.

Finally fucking killed that
blood starved beast
. I spent 5 insights to summon Alfred and entire fire paper. Died 6 times from that fucker.

Gotta land a charged R2 from behind to do a Visceral or land a Parry with your gun. Gotta unlearn habits from DS2.

Its more like there is only one visceral attack animation, perioid. A sad thing indeed, but something we just have to deal with. It is interchangeable with ripping out someones heart, somethings throat or sometimes somethings intestines... likely straight from their ass.

Bad ass for sure, but it can get old. I'm still liking it, nearly done with a NG+, but I can see the varying mileage.

what? :P I've almost mastered it already haha. I'm talking about how they look visually.

That's disappointing. It looks cool and all. I guess this makes it possible to perform on lots of different shaped enemies without putting in the design work, rather than having it mostly work only on humanoids.

is there a point where there isnt anywhere else to go and you just have to go to a lamp and leave?

There's a lamp, then a vestibule area that will have a locked gate with blue lights, that's the way to the boss, to unlock the door you have to find the switch somewhere in the dungeon, the doors with small lanterns on the ground next to them lead to the switch. Once you flip it you can go fight the boss, depending on the floor and the boss type there will be a lantern there after beating it and an exit to the elevator to go deeper in the dungeon. The amount of floors is dictated by the difficulty rating of the chalice ritual. The exit to the dungeon will be the lantern from the final boss' chamber.

It's official fuck that fucking piece of shit
Gherman
10 tries+ and I'm still getting raped... Can this boss be co-op?

It can. I had a helluva time 'til I got some co-op help. If you're in range of me (I'm 85ish I think), then I'm happy to help.

I keep coming back to this, but I the Yharnam city architects had to be insane with how the city is laid out. Crazy alleys, dead ends, giant ladders to no where. Really playing up the crazy.

I am certain that I acquired the Make Contact gesture but now that I need it it's not available. Really annoying. The body you get it from is still there and I can't talk to it because I already did earlier in the game.

Oh yeah dude I'm 92 my PSN ID is TehR3AP3R Just farming some blood vials now because I have 3 left thanks to that boss lol.

Yeah PVP is this game is a leap back. A leap back off of a cliff.

DkS2 would have the best PVP in the series if soul memory wasn't a thing.

I swear I did too but it's not in my list. I can't even remember where I got it.

I still keep hitting every chest, just in case.

I know right?

I'm so scared of chests in Sins, I can barely remember vanilla and who knows if they changed some of them! Lol
