Can anyone tell me what's up with the area right of V
icar
A
melia
's entrance? Should I explore here before fighting her? I've killed B
SB
and the W
itch
and P
aarl
is too difficult right now.

What to do?

Weapon question - is there
some kind of katana
in this game? And if there is, don't tell me where to find it, although I guess it's somewhere in
the Chalice Dungeon(s)
.

You can explore it, but
it won't take long, since it only has couple of enemies
. Then again - and this is bigger spoiler, best to find out on your own after you explore it -
you can access one of the secret optional areas from there if you have the special item for it
.

Pthumeru
Cental Pthumeru
Lower Pthumeru
Ailing Loran for ingredient for defiled
Defiled Pthumeru
Either Lower Loran, Great Isz or NG+ for ingredient for final chalice.
Great Pthumeru Ihyl

Pthumeru Chalice from Blood-Starved Beast --> Central Pthumeru Chalice from Watch Dog of the Old Lords in Pthumeru Chalice -->Lower Pthumeru Chalice from the boss in the Central Pthumeru Chalice --> Defiled Chalice from Bloodletting Beast in the Lower Pthumeru Chalice --> Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice from Amygdala in the Defiled Chalice.

The issues is the materials require are located in some of the other Chalice dungeons such as the Lower Loran Chalice which contains Red Jelly needed to make the Great Pthumeru Ihyll Chalice dungeon.

thanks!

In NG+, with 59 strength and very low skill. Rocking a Kirkhammer +10. Despite the A strength scaling it seems now raising my skill level increases my attack damage more? Is that what I should be doing from now on apart from Vit/End?

There is a one and you can get it before doing That dungeon
Chalice has all weapons with different Blood Gem Slot

After 50 Stats, the diminishing return will hit that stats(2nd softcap).
It will be a better idea to add Skill up to 25(the first softcap)
(This apply to non vit/end stats)

Okay, now I get why people wanted a level 80-100 meta for PvP, people were doing STR/quality builds, & that build reaches it's potential pretty much at level 90-100, mostly because you don't need to waste any levels on bloodtinge & arcane.

Bloodtinge & ESPECIALLLY arcane though, require high skill & strength minimums to reach the potential for those builds, arcane for example needs at least 16 strength & 12 skill to weild the best arcane weapon, that's at least 10 levels "wasted", the situation is less extreme in the case of bloodtinge because the chikage is an extremely powerful weapon even at level ~35-40 Bloodtinge.

Level 110-120 is needed or all the PvP builds will be the same, arcane builds only start outperforming quality & strength builds at that level. Especially with the high vitality needed because of the 30% penalty to invaders.

If anyone is having trouble with the 3 hunters in Y
'Arghul
I found a great way to cheese them!

Get them to follow you down the stairs to the bottom level. On the right hand side of the room there is a gate you can close, trapping yourself inside. Then extend your weapon and carve them up!
. They were real bastards, so no regrets.

Thank you! And after Skill hits 25? What's best to put points in?
It is really up to individual.
But i think if you only need to increase dmg, skill will still be better till 50(i think you will still get 1dmg/stat)
Anything above 50 is kind of meaningless as you need 1-2stats to increase 1dmg.

The area right of the vicar entrance is something you will get back to later. Right now you should head to forbidden woods. Remember the area where you have to use the hunter chief embed to unlock the gate? head straight forward to the 2 giants that are infront of you, behind one of the giants there is a door . Go through that and keep on going.

Ah could you elaborate? Wouldn't being able to hit harder help as well?

One of the dungeons halves your health, it wouldn't matter how hard you hit if every enemy one shots you, you need at least 40 vitality, & depending on your experience with the game, level 50 vit helps.

A general rule for offensive stats in Bloodborne is to have the accumulated offensive levels be around 50, so 30 strength & 20 skill for example is pretty good for quality builds & it allows you to use the cannon as well.

Another method is to
run back to the prior lamp, For some reason they only go through the doorway one by one, so you can fight them "fair and square", albeit one on one.

I managed to kill
Rom
on the first try, even if I spent 90% of that fight desperately healing in the middle of a crowd of
spiders.
Ran back to Oedon chapel as soon as I caught sight of what was waiting for me after the boss fight.

Died twice to that hunter in
Grand Cathedral
before I managed to cheese him by getting him trapped behind one of the doors, where I could safely strike him through the door without fear of reprisal
as his katana and gun couldn't clip through, while my Ludwig could
. As far as I'm concerned, when it comes to the Souls series, you use scumbag tactics whenever you think you can get away with it.

The game fools you.

You fool the game.

Arghhh i suck so bad at this, that father figure is frustrating the hell out of me.

The first half of the game is always the hardest. Just stick with it. He's the best boss to learn the parry mechanism properly as it'll only get harder after him.

Well, sleeping on things is really great advice.

Just retried Defiled Amygdala and I beat it on my first try. I'm not too proud of how I did it as the first two phases were me shooting at it but whatever gets the job done.

I more or less do the same thing with almost all the bosses the challice dungeons with my Bloodtinge build.

Defiled watchdog? Shoot it in the head until armor is broken then I bust out my bone marrow ash combo.
Defiled Amydgala? Shoot it in the head
Rom? Shoot it in the head
Eribettas? Shoot it in the head
Example:

Bloodtinge might the most OP stat to utilized because you can actually deal damage with both Chikage and a gun unlike other builds.

Can you parry every enemy? Even the big fuckers?
Using the firearm? I am not really sure frankly. From my experiences, all of the human-shape enemies and bosses can be parry. For certain bosses like Vicar Amelia, each arms, legs and head has a set "health" portion. Do enough damage and the boss will fall down with the bell parry sound. I never been able to parry certain bosses, so I can't really give you a certain answer.

Fr. Gascoigne? I just beat him. When you go through the fog just run straight to the first tombstones. He might jump and should miss you 9/10 times. Then lock on and circle the tombstones. Your weapon should be able to clip through which makes his first form really easy. When he starts to change back off to not get caught in the blast and sprint up the stairs to the right. When he starts coming up roll down and immediately turn right back on yourself. He should stay on the stairs where you can hit him (and be hit so be careful!). If he manages to come round then dodge round him and turn sharply up the stairs, he should know be stuck down below you where again you can hit him easily (but he can still hit you). makes the fight manageable anyway.

Parry is good but I use the whip in second form and not sure if you can do a visceral, didn't seem to work for me anyway.

I still think BoM skill builds are more OP, they give you the highest dps in the game by far, as long as you know how to deal with the short range.

Damn the Watchdog of the Old Lords is hard... I'm in a rooted chalice (depth is 4 I think) but I think I need to lvl up more as my damage are kinda low.
I'll try to see if I can parry it.

Oh man, help please! I just stepped into the n

f

way too early (just after beating V

A
melia
) and the lamp won't let me travel back to the hunter's dream. What do I do?

Edit: Oh, wow, I left the game and it brought me back instead of to the title screen.
