Jurassic World - Official Global Trailer

Damn this movie looks like it'll be fun. I'm more hyped for Jurassic World at this point than I am for Age of Ultron.

This seems to be basically:

"What would happen if Michael Bay directed a Jurassic Park movie?"

Given the generic Hollywood toilet humour at the start, the archetype character set and witless dialogue, and the massive yet instantly forgettable set pieces, I'd say the chances of a better description are slim.

There's still a lot we don't know about shark behavior.

Didn't we have a thread on this Great White "shark whisperer", too?

We just disagree here. It's like they are trying to rehab the raptors Ala T2 (he's the good guy this time!) and it just comes across as corny to me. An obvious plot device to make the raptor "cool" to the viewer.

As an aside, it comes across a little weird that, within this world of JP, they would take on the liability of continuing to breed raptors (after they nearly killed the grandkids of the founder of JP).

I hope they explain how they created a more controllable raptor all while being unable to manipulate the DNA of the man made hybrid Indomimus Rex.

Thankfully GAF is far from the masses. If 4 transformer movies can kill at the Box Office, i'm sure Jurassic World will be alright.

Why are Dinosaurs not interesting and exciting enough?

That's even a line of dialog in the trailer

I kind of look at it that they knew no one would be hyped over CG critters anymore so they had to turn it up a notch.

Personally, the most interesting thing about dinosaurs is that they were real. Bringing them back is an exciting prospect. The idea from the original movie where using high tech to resurrect ancient nature and having ancient nature win is perhaps a tired trope but is at least still compelling.

The idea of trainable dinos vs engineered dinos sounds like nothing but a pitch for a line of toys and dilutes what should be an inherent sense of discovery (even if completely imaginary) of the nature of the creatures. This may be irrelevant for anyone else, but to me that means this might as well be a killer robot movie and feels like it eliminates the point of having dinosaurs at all.

Chances of a dinosaur shitting on one of the trainers in the first 10 minutes? 100%?

It's like the internet spawned it in the trailer lol.

That would have been worse.

At least it's using a variety of words rather than parroting what she said, and adding an adjective. It also doesn't help that prattpratt delivered the line terribly. Like just the structure of that sentence is awkward, when spoken allowed.

somehow I knew making this thread was a mistake, but your comments will not bring me down.

If you're excited for something it doesn't matter what others think, particularly around a movie that was being shot down as soon as the director was announced. Who gives a fuck just be excited. If people can get excited about Vin Diesel driving cars through skyscrapers to the point where it can be the fastest movie to a billion dollars, I would say being excited about this is more than acceptable.

I still love the scene with Pratt and the Raptors...he's playing with fire...they can turn at any moment.

That scene will be intense in the theater.

Judging from the trailer they do, there's a scene with one attacking a soldier.

Essentially this. When they mention that they appear to be communicating (and as Pratt says at the start it's about respect), the human-made dino wins over the raptors to its side.

Once I get out of class, watching the trailer then I'm out. These threads have become so toxic every time. I'm gonna see this and enjoy it hopefully. Dinosaurs rock. On that note, goodbye fellow JW lovers!

Ugh....all uninspiring CG-by-the-numbers, guns, explosions and cheese. No heart, no charm, no sense of wonder or mystery or any of the tone that made people fall in love with Jurassic Park.

Agreed.

That first line gave the writer so much potential to play with, and CP's response is the best they could come up with?

It doesn't bode well for the rest of the script.

Not even close.

I honestly can't believe you're defending that exchange.

Gotta be honest, kinda bummed they showed a snippet of the T-Rex. I was hoping they'd save her for a glorious entrance on the big screen.

The original JP doesn't really have cheap humor. Even ol' dude saying he hates Goldblum is earned.

Exactly.

The original also had a sense of wonder and magic, I'm willing to bet this film is utterly devoid of that due to the cookie cutter design.

I'm not saying it's the best thing written on a page but it's not Bay humor either. I know Bay humor and... no, sorry.

Maybe Bay is a little lower overall but the dialogue and humour is definitely in the same bracket even if it is nearer the top. Ie: pretty awful.

when this movie inevitably makes a lot of money and a sequel is made
what will the hook be
jurassic park will have failed three times (isla nublar, san diego, isla nublar mk2)
just rehash one of the sequels? but after the third, wouldn't the military then just wipe the dinos out?

I actually really appreciate the attempt to "animalize" the raptors. Showing the ability to be trained makes them more like actual dinosaurs (as animals that, behavior-wise, are similar to "killing machine predators" of the modern day) and less as chaotic killing machines, although there is obviously an element of that.

Okay, fine. That was good enough that I'll be there in theaters.

Worried about 1) super annoying kids and 2) super annoying lady running the place that is dutifully wrong about anything and everything. Looks fun otherwise.
Well the first thing is to be expected since it was in the first film, the second might ruin it though.

Jurassic World 2: Jurassic Moon!

That trailer was WAY more hype than the ones before it.

Loved it. and did I see raptors killing people? good stuff. Knew they wouldn't stay tame for long.
