Destiny House of Wolves Reveal Thread

Just got back from work to read all this. Wow, great news all around! So glad I kept my Vanquisher, and bummed that I dismantled my Shadow Price.

Still PISSED that goddamn factions still need Crucible marks though. FFS Bungie, NOT EVERYONE LIKES PVP!

That twitch stream got me excited. They did a great job in my opinion. Have not played in a long time but It is tempting to get back and upgrade my faith bringer to max and dominate in the iron banner.

It is nice to see the changes to upgrade old weapons and armor, but I expected more about HoW in this stream. Will check later for the weekly update.

Genuinely pleasantly surprised at how much stuff they seem to be getting right with HoW. Now we just need the story missions and end game content itself to actually be compelling and fun.

What does it all mean if there isn't a substantial amount of new content? How many times are you expected to do archon priest or any other strike/mission?

Archon priest is easy, real easy, it was my first solo'd nightfall and weekly, even easier now

So when he pops up its no big deal, I'll gladly run that over and over

This may be my last big complaint left. But with how well Bungie has handled feedback thus far, I am hoping we hear something about this as well. At least we can still get all their stuff through vendor packages, but RNG and all that^^

Jumping back into destiny after a 4 month hiatus . These changes sound great as weapon upgrading was a huge reason I left .

Is there any reason to buy Crota dlc though ? Have no interest in its raid and its story/ strikes look boring .

Thinking of just jumping straight into wolves .

I honestly have no idea how they would handle players that only bought the second expansion. The highest-level strike/Crucible Playlists will almost certainly contain maps from Crota's End DLC. So either they will let you play those strikes/maps only if you are in a Playlist, or they will ban you from the Playlist completely.

In previous games Bungie was not shy about excluding people who hadn't bought all DLC.

I like the upgrade and reforge system, great reason to play again.

Hated the system they had in place, this listening to the community is great. Now just remove the glimmer limit, make more dynamic events, more bounties and fix the pvp lag.

They've almost effectively ended the glimmer limit by letting you trade in materials for glimmer now. Most people who played through Crota's End are probably sitting on 25,000 to 75,000 worth of Ascendent Shards.

Now that they aren't charging 7,000 for every exotic upgrade I suspect people will have less uses for glimmer anyhow.

there will likely be house of wolves only playlists for a while before theyre integrated with the dark below. probably wont see major dlc requirements until this fall.

i hope we see less weekly stuff from the old expansion as well.

Can I upgrade Fatebringer?
or is it only select weapons?

looks like all legendary weapons and armor can be upgraded. didn't see or hear anything about rares or lower, which is unfortunate.

exotics can be upgraded too, but they don't require anything different other than exotic shards. the legendary gear will be using the etheric light stuff

I think I have over 500K worth of glimmer if I traded all my stuff in with the new HoW system.

Love the path they are taking in regards to upgrades. The previous method was a major influence on me taking a break from the game.

Making the gunsmith relevant also good news.
I wish they at least brought back materials for marks exchange as it was the only way I purchased faction gear outside of packages.

only thing that sucks about this is how much old, great shit, i've broken down....
Yup, already lamenting having broken down my Vault of Glass armour set and weapons. At least I can get them back, but some of the early ARs (like the OG Vanguard one whose name I forget currently) got dumped upon the release of TDB.

Luckily I thought VoG armor sucked and kept around my other weapons for pvp. So damn awesome that I can upgrade all my stuff. This is def worth no raid. Wife is gonna hate me again.

Maybe they can make the gunsmith sell one old legendary weapon with random perks every few hours just so they can see some use again. Would keep people alert and would definitely make Banshee even more popular after HoW is out. Do the same thing with Eva Levante, but have her selling old legendary armor pieces with random perks and stats.

Some random gear, reminds me of Warframe Vauban blueprints. Still waiting on a blueprint for two months now.

so my 40 odd vanguard marks and 60K glimmer means I can buy a full set of armour and weapons for all my characters from day 1 and max out inside a day or two or am I reading it wrong??

upg path looks neat, wonder how long until I get what I want though.

gutted I got rid of my shadow price's though and most of my VOG armour :(

Good vid from Datto about all of it. :)

No because for all old legendary gear you need that new Etheric light.
And that only drops in Nightfall, Prison of Elders etc.

does anybody know if our existing queen's wrath rank will be brought over to 'HOW'? and will it be possible to level up the queen's wrath weapons (rare ones!) from back then (merciless hand cannon, etc). would be a shame if not!

Those small things are always cool for some reason haha.
Atten-hut.

QUESTION

Do you need to own DLC1 before you can get DLC2?

What would it be like for someone who skipped DLC1 and decided to jump into DLC2 instead?

Has any of this been clarified yet?

Is Praedyth's Revenge just loved for its high stability, or is there anything else special about it? I got one but only ever used it if I needed a Void sniper.....felt a little on the weak side to me.
I don't know to be fair but Praedyth's Revenge is my favorite sniper in the game... love it.

You should be fine, the only difference the way I understand it is that you would maybe have a bit slower start as you would have to play through the story on lower levels, assuming you're 30 (even though you could be 32 just by Iron Banner). I really don't see a reason as to why you should be able to skip The Dark Below.

It has not been clarified. It can be done. Here is what is safe to assume:

You will not have access to anything with a <I> in the top corner. This includes missions, strikes, certain PvP playlists, and the Crota raid.

Gear is a toss up, as all <I> weapons and armor might be being replaced with <II> weapons and armor, except for Crota raid gear.

This also means there will be some weeks where you cannot participate in the Weekly/Nightfall run.

it also has firefly, the exploding headshot perk.

The new LDR5001 with void damage is a better damage gun as it usually comes with armour piercing rounds and higher impact, but only a 4 round clip compared to 6 for the revenge.

The revenge perks never change but the random drop ones will so its all about personnel taste.

mine are in the vault, LDR all the way so far.

They are all easy, there is no hard strike in Destiny..Some just take longer then others.

Maybe if you know all the good hiding spots to actually stay alive. I only know a couple. Is there a guide out there for all of the strikes? Because I'm level 31 and have a couple exotic things, and strikes are definitely NOT easy to solo for me.

I like how the announcement of no raids brought in so much negativity.

And how the recent update and HoW stream have brought in a ton of positive response back into the game.

It's almost as if their fuck ups with TDB never existed.
