I've seen it twice now. The first time, I was disappointed. Second time, I was able to pick up on a lot more and now I love it. It's not on the same level as Winter Soldier or GotG, but it's closer than any of the other Marvel movies.
It's not as "fun" as the first, but it's not trying to be. My only complaints:
- The finale isn't as good as the original. It's not bad by any means, just not quite as stirring.
- There's some awkward scene transitions that left me a little confused. Second time I watched it, I knew they were coming and just went with it, but an extended version could help. It feels like they really struggled to get the running time down.
- It didn't do a good job of explaining Scarlett Witch's powers.
- Thor's subplot feels completely unnecessary.
What I loved:
-The dialogue (not just the quips) is fantastic.
- It's waaay more consistent than the first movie which I thought was completely mediocre until the helicarrier attack. This one starts strong and stays strong.
- James Spader
- They found a great angle on the Hawkeye character without turning him into "generic badass."
- I thought Vision looked a little goofy at first, but he won me over.
