Is that the Eiffel tower in the background?

My hope is they downplay that stuff a bit going forward. They can continue to expand on the Librarian's plans and draw connections here and there, but don't do it to the effect that everything is based on 'space lady-imposed destiny'. The inexplicable "luck factor" has always been a thing I found unique and intriguing in Halo and I'd rather it not all get torn up in favor of midi-chlorians and "Chosen One" prophecies.
See, the problem is that the theory of Chief having the Iso-Didact's geas and being something similar to a "chosen one" goes all the way back to Halo: CE and a statement that 343GS told Chief. That statement held immense power and bright much theories and confusion all of these years with no clear answer until Halo: Silentium, which tied so much together.
Along with that, even in Halo Legends we find by Cortana that Chief has a great destiny ahead of him. Simply having "luck" isn't enough to create a destiny, but rather just a greater chance for one.
The ground work has been paid since the beginnings of Halo under the care of Bungie; 343i has just embraced it as opposed to shying away from it.
You may want elusive and vague backstory with "luck" playing a major role, but I personally would much prefer having a cohesive and well thought out universe to delve into and immerse myself in.
I mean, he can be lucky and be Didact as he should have been. Cortana does say he's lucky in Halo 3 intro. I've always explained the luck thing in my head as a sort of tongue in cheek reference to the respawns and checkpoint system that makes Chief so successful.
True but doesn't stray too far from reality.
Seriously, the movie is genuinely fantastic. However the whole love theme was terrible. Would have been far better without it.
There is a theory that he is part of Librarian's plot to help humanity acquiring the Mantle, and he might possess the geas of IsoDidact/Bornstellar.
You don't understand love then. The love themes were fine
I thought Halo 5 would be DirectX12

Welp, time to spend half my night watching H4 cinematics
We don't know when the Chief and blue team meet up exactly.Hm, so in MCC, Locke makes it clear that he's searching for John. But if John is AWOL while also being with the rest of Blue Team, is no one looking for Kelly, Linda, and Fred?

In Escalation, isn't he already with them after he lies about Hood's orders?
Yea I believe so (haven't read it myself). I just meant in terms of the game, or moreso the start of the game. I'm not sure they'll expect every player to have read Escalation. They could show the blue team being included in the 'hunt' at some point in the game.In Escalation, isn't he already with them after he lies about Hood's orders?
So do we know that's who Blue Team is? I've been out of this for a bit. Being an old school Halo book fan that'd be pretty stellar.
I heard someone saying something about Buck being a Spartan now and being on Locke's team. Is that legit?
John, Fred, Kelly, Linda afaik.
No doubt he can be both. I guess I'm just pointing that we shouldn't run away from exploring Chief's destiny, specifically because it's been hinted at since the very beginning.
I doubt Joe Staten had anything like that in mind when he wrote Halo CE. 343i has just expanded on the things Bungie created, and Bungie's ambiguous writing style makes that very easy.
Personally I'm not a fan of any kind of "chosen one" stories in science fiction. Chief was lucky and happened to be in the right place at the right time, and now I'm supposed to believe it was the 100 000 year-old Forerunners tinkering with human genome all along...
I want these as wallpapers

It seems Halo 5 will have a really strong campaing. Was it already confirmed if the co-op will be only 2 players, or 4 players?
Cause by the look of those pictures, I would guess you can choose to play both as Master Chief and Agent Locke (or it may depend on the level you are, like Halo 2 and the Arbiter), and then your co-op team would be these ones.

I can see 4 player co-op being in. They might have each player having a certain special ability. Players being as Fred would be better in close quarter combat, Kelly would have a better sprint function, etcIt seems Halo 5 will have a really strong campaing. Two campaings with each visions could be very awseome if done right! Hopefully they wil nail it!There's been a very big duality theme that 343i has been spinning with Halo 5, so I wouldn't be surprised if the "campaign" has two "versions", one with Locke and one with Chief. I have no doubts that each team will be playable and especially so when playing with 4-player co-op (like the Arbiter, and 2 Elites in Halo 3 campaign).

It was only confirmed to be 2 player co-op for spliscreen (across all modes btw). We don't know about 4 player online co-op yet.
I mean, besides Locke's helmet being represented by the blue color, and Chief's by the red color, and their big picture is in the left side and right side respectively. Why is their team represented with the inverted colors, and in the the opposite direction?
Now, is there an explanation of why are they making this "confusion" between the representative colors and the characters?

I'd imagine it's because having the Blue Team hued blue helps their recognition for lore fans, but having a large Locke helmet with a blue visor on the red side wouldn't look right. Also, with Chief's visor being orange/gold it makes sense visually to have his large helmet above the orange hued side.
As some have speculated, it could also represent that Chief is watching for "red team", and likewise Locke is watching for Blue Team.
That's funny - I asked this question about a week ago. Yes, he's playing the character. Voice acting is great in this series.is Mishak voiced by Kumail Nanjiani? I'm just listening to these today and I'm all aboard the hype train
The whole 'problem' of the extended media is a tricky one though. I do feel no one should be 'required' to buy books/comics/movies in order to understand a game, but at the same time, what should you reasonably expect your audience to know about the series when you're 15 years into the story? Should someone who is buying Halo 5 be reasonably expected to have seen/followed the #HUNTtheTRUTH marketing campaign? At least be exposed to some of the TV/internet commercials? Has to be a tough tightrope to walk, especially for an established series.
I feel that each game can't be expected to go over the entirety of the previous games, as that would take forever. But then are you only making games for people who've played your previous games? That doesn't seem like a good idea either.
You can watch pretty much any James Bond movie without knowledge of the previous one(s) since they are only very loosely related for the most part. Star Wars does a good job of catching people up on the basics via the intro scroll. Would watching The Return of the King be really confusing if you hadn't seen the first two movies?
I'm the type of end user who loves consuming as much extended media as there is available, but obviously there are lots of people who are not like me, how do you make a product that appeals to both?
Something I was thinking about is how impressive it is for the Halo saga to be continuing on their 5th mainline game, and still appearing to be going strong.
I was trying to think of, but came up pretty empty, but how many other series have had 5+ games? Games where you kept the same story/protagonist throughout.
Assassins Creed has had a bunch, but each game jumps around and is only tied together due to the game universe. Resident Evil? I think they take place in the same 'universe' but each game had different characters/etc. Uncharted is on the 4th game, so I suppose that's close. I never played them but I figure they're all intertwined?
Either way, Halo has been going for almost 15 years now, with a contiguous story, protagonist (for the most part), and setting. That's pretty impressive I think. To go that long with only relatively minimal 'retcons', AND while switching studios AND 3 different consoles has to be difficult.

I feel the idea that you should read the extended universe to understand the game is really exaggerated. I recently read the escalation comics because it was touted as a "must read" before Halo 5, yet apart from the MC segments, I don't really feel like it was necessary.
Even the MC bits are a bit unnecessary, we assume the Didact dies at the end of H4,, so it wasn't that important to understanding Halo 5.obviously he survives but then MC ends up killing him again anyways after
The one thing I liked from the comic is just how it really made Didact seem like a threat, the way he soaked up all those bullets like it was nothing. In H4 he just seemed like some high tech guy with telekinesis.
http://huntthetruth.tumblr.com/I'm starting to feel the Halo 5 hype, where can I go to catch up on all the Hunt the Truth audio? Is it all on Youtube?
Arby is in it but we don't know about the flood.Holy fuck boys..
Didn't think I would be, but I'm pretty pumped for Halo 5. Yet I know next to nothing about it. Was it ever said if Arbiter or The Flood are returning? I know Locke had that cutscene with Arbiter, but I need more Keith David

Possibly:I think Chief's chest piece is just too large. Locke has this very poignant assertion with his head and chest in his stance. His armor helps push that narrative tremendously.
