Destiny House of Wolves Reveal Thread

crota normal even with 4 only takes 30-40 minutes, a team of 6 around 20-25.

crota hard about an hour as long as the last stage doesn't play funny buggers.

VOG is far superior for me anyway, and is approx 2 hours or so.

We have started on tuesday doing the three nightfall and weekly herioc for all three characters and then running crota normal three times as well.

From 7pm until around midnight.

leaves rest of the week for Crota hard and VOG and other stuff.

vault is full of armour engrams for the cryptarch to decrypt to level him up, 80 odd vanguard and faction commendations, giving over 25,000 reputation, all for when the dlc drops,

hopefully get some nice HOW items from the engrams and level ups.

POE sucks that its only 3 man but at least I should have enough on to get a game when required.

we can either have platform specific threads, or reboot the OT with house of wolves. one thread for the expansion + discussion and another thread exclusively for LFG. whatever happens, there shouldn't be more than 2 threads.

why not 3 like I illustrated? MS vs Sony LFG's with an actuall OT that is specifically talking about the game

Ghaleon said on the last page he's concerned that any extra platform specific threads might split the community, and I'm inclined to agree.

I'll just chime in and say this is why I don't really go into the DestinyGAF OT anymore. I unsubbed from it quite a few OT's ago.

Just super playstation heavy and whenever I tried to get a team together it never worked. DestinyGAF is in the community thread. I think a distinction should be made between gaming side OT's and community OT's. A community OT is when its clear there's a distinct community within the game that deserves a home on GAF.

I think it would be better, at least for the Xboners, for them to have their own, thread. I could see who on GAF I could actually play with and we could develop an actual community around it. It's why I loved HaloGAF so much. We all knew each other and played with each other.

I agree partly. We've made some headway with the Xbox One group being mentioned in the OP but as the thread progresses that still gets lost quite quickly. An Xbox-centric community thread might solve those issues.

I do understand Ghaleon's unwillingness to split up the discussion, though. There's a lot of good people in the thread. Xbox players were becoming a bit more prominent the last few months, but now that HoW is approaching they'll probably get drowned out again as the player count increases.

The Trials does look pretty cool. None of my clan really plays PVP for the most part though. Still, i'll give it a go.

I just meant splitting up the LFG's and taking them out of the OT

All console owners should discuss the game in the OT itself

Just seems "cleaner"., i don't really care either way ; )

We'll never surpass the Halo OTs if we remove LFG posts! #team80%LFG

The old Destiny LFG thread died. A new stand alone LFG thread would also die even faster IMO. A separate Xbox LFG thread would die the fastest IMO.

Seems like the current Xbox GAF solution in the community OT is better than separate threads IMO.

Yeah I know what you mean. We actually used to have a Nightfall/Raid lfg thread but I'm pretty sure it gradually died because people would rather just post in the OT since it's constantly active. Might be the same situation if we made more LFG threads.

this is pretty good.

when i'd spawn C on firebase delphi, i'd immediately rush to A to flip the spawns, ignoring most of the combat along the way. once my team started spawning with me, i would join the fight. i tend to do this on every map, taking forward positions to put pressure on the opposing team while my team moved as a unit (well... most of them do whatever they want, but at least it keeps the other team busy).

one reason i've come to prefer destiny's combat to bungie's halos is because a single player has significant influence on the tide of a match. the gunslinger especially has the ability to break setups at range, which is why it's great for flanking maneuvers.

I agree, it's a great feeling when you single handedly reposition your team spawn point, only to watch your team cascade the map after the fact.

I was pretty frustrated at PS4 users getting extra content, and vowed never to play Destiny again.. But here I am back in the game. And with the recent changes they've done that I've come back to, I have been pleased so far.

House of Wolves is looking to change some more things for the better, so I'm actually pretty excited. Osiris is looking fun, I want to actually play it though. I'm eager to see what Prison of Elders will bring though!

That Horus inspired titan armor tho. Sex in an armor set.

Do people still think the comet expansion is going to come in September? Aren't we a little behind already with HoW expansion planned release?

On the one hand, it makes sense that Comet would push because HoW did. On the other, there's less wiggle room for Comet - I don't think Activision would want it landing too close to CoD. I can see it pushing to October at the latest.

I played IB for nearly 40 hours without sleeping.

Hyped for this DLC

--

It made me want to max out everything and obtain weapons that normally I would just wait for the next DLC for. Past two days I have maxed Thorn, Invective, Oversoul Edict, Vision of Confluence, Jolder's Hammer, IB Sniper (used 250 motes to roll Field Scout, Rodeo and Firefly with Arc lol), and Song of Ir Yut. As well as Lucky Raspberry.

I have to say that finding fireteams and playing with them all day is the closest thing to Halo 3 on Xbox LIVE. Nothing else on Xbox One do I actually find people to talk to.

Sept - Oct seems realistic IMO. I don't think they'd want to drop it in November with Halo/CoD/Battlefront coming out. The delay for HoW was probably to bridge the gap between the last DLC for the base game and Comet.

I think that after Destiny launched a very large amount of the team was moved to the Comet expansion while other smaller team(s) were moved to the DB/HoW expansions. Basically, I think the Comet missions and content has been worked on for quite some time, and thus is probably on a good schedule to release when it is supposed to. Once HoW launches, I bet the smaller DLC teams will shift over to help put the finishing touches on Comet.

Once Comet launches it'll be like the Destiny launch all over again. Majority moved to Destiny 2 while smaller teams setup for VV and FotG.

House of Wolves missed it's scheduled release date of March correct? If so that doesn't give me any confidence Comet will be out in September.

Very few points on the roadmap for Destiny have been successfully hit without issues. With a game like Destiny, and maybe Bungie wasn't expecting this, it's probably really hard to plan out the fine changes of a patch or expansion even a few months in advance. Hell, look at HoW. It was supposed to have a raid but now it doesn't / it's coming later.

I wouldn't expect Comet to be on time, but I do expect it to be good considering how the quality of each release has been increasing. Even if Comet is being worked on by a separate team and is still directly on track, there's no telling what will happen between now and its release that will require reworks. That stuff happens all the time with regular MMOs.

I'm waiting for the big reveal of the pve arena, but if it's what I'm hoping it is, this might tip me over to buy the Season Pass and get back into Destiny.

I think the main reason for the delay was to add more content into this DLC, this new PVP stuff could have been added in and maybe the new social area too, hard to tell.

The first dlc was so basic and empty outside of adding a raid and some standard missions they had to give more then just that in this next pack.

I think the HoW delay was due to implementing changes they wanted to lay foundation for Comet. My guess is the art and assets team are still on time and it was the the program heavy side that needed the delay to work on all the changes. I still think September is likely.

Had comet been officially acknowledged? I think it's coming, but I'm just curious.

It was in the Activision - Bungie contract, so it's definitely a real thing, but they haven't officially said anything about it though.

I'd say there is a small chance we'll see it mentioned at E3. If we do, it'll probably only show off one of the bigger features.

Such as:
  • New Weapon Types
  • New Subclasses
  • New Patrol Zone

Just enough to give us something to crave over, but big enough that we understand it can't just be implemented right now.

Edit: Probably not the new Patrol Zone, as it'll just make people bitch for months about content that is obviously finished just being held back and sold to us later.

I understand the concern for splitting general Destiny discussion. But as an Xbone user I would be much more willing to participate in a thread of my peers I can play with. Not one with 70-80% of my peers I will never play with.

I say just try it out for an OT or 2.

Late to the thread discussion (why is it in this thread?). There already is/was a Destiny LFG thread but it didn't last very long because most people just LFG in the OT. How would creating another dedicated thread, or even two platform specific threads, change this without heavy moderation? It's only natural to try to group up in the thread frequented by the most active players.

Right, they were different teams. There could have been a knock on effect if part of the production schedule assumed the HoW team was free to move onto Comet at an earlier date; or, they moved onto Destiny 2. In either case I don't think there would be that much of an impact. I'm still optimistic for a September release. I was more trying to say, to the extent that Comet could push, I don't think it would do so by much given the holiday release schedule.

Great post on reddit showing how matchmaking for end game content could work (wows group finder):http://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheG...ggestionif_bungie_insists_on_pre_made_groups/

Something like this would be really helpful. The100.io is the best thing I've found but still something ingame would be better, especially for short notice groups.

I loved the first post I saw

The whole process of finding a fire team on the xb1 is cumbersome at best. Wife comes in and says i thought you were playing your game what's up with the laptop and the phone, my reply is yea this is ridiculous.

This my first experience via destinylfg.net which is mostly why I never got into the game like I thought I would

I do wonder if Bungie will implement any new kind of LFG / matchmaking system with Comet, or if that won't happen until Destiny 2. They definitely need to figure something out. Alot of us are lucky that we are on PS4 and can find groups easily, but I absolutely sympathize with XB1 players who have trouble finding people. Hopefully Bungie finds a solution in the future that works better than what we have now.

They could always make an official LFG app that is snappable on Xbox One. That way they could update it whenever without updating the game. But they hate Xbox now so I doubt that would happen.

I don't think we should split the threads by platform or by general OT and LFG. I think it's worked so far and if we want a more robust system for LFG we can start some off-site doc on google.

It'd have a player queue as well where people can just put their name in a list as looking for something and before making an LFG post members could look at the doc to see if anyone has similar goals at the time. If you lose a member of your team you can just check out the player queue. It'd have to be a community effort to keep it updated (I'd be willing to do a lot of curating) and involve those that are trying to find games. We're a good community but we've also formed cliques and sometimes skip over drive-by "hey anyone want to play" posts by less involved members.

This would be separate of the larger lists of just usernames people have compiled. A more active and living document. It also wouldn't replace normal LFG posts, but could help resolve those that can never find a game by putting their name in a queue and/or scheduling their own activities.

example (pretty half-assed, but easily can make it useful):

DestinyGAF LFG

But that's the thing. Are the people who are saying "it's worked so far" XBO players? Because for us, it hasn't. I see full 100 count pages that are nothing but PS4 Raid teams filling up, and one XBO post that gets completely lost or its too late to join. One XBO post if I'm lucky, mind you. Usually there's zero.

At least if I subscribed to an XBO Only LFG thread, I'd know the instant it updates that an XBO hed is looking to play. I just signed up for the100, but I'd much rather play with GAF hedz.

xbox players get lost in the OTs constantly. Give them their own thread for LFG only, and keep the discussion where it's always been. It's certainly worth a shot.

Yeah, as an X1 player, I stopped trying to use the official thread for LFG a long time ago. Especially since it's gone in to Community where the discussion and topics get a little looser and it's easier to get drowned out (It was basically an alternate Bloodborne thread for a while there). I understand the hesitation and the precedent it might set, but I think if it was strictly limited to LFG conversation, that thread might work.

It sucks to splinter the community but there seems to be demand for an Xbox-centric community. Despite what I previously said I don't see why someone couldn't make a "Destiny Thread of XBL Matchmaking" - if it's useful it will remain active; if not it will die a quick death.

I don't see a lot of demand for an LFG-specific or PS4-specific LFG thread though. It would be hard to take that out of the OT.

I'd think the conversation would still be exactly the same, full of PS4 users looking for groups and discussing the game with xbox players, but at least the poor xbone saps distinguished other platform users would get a fair shake at finding a pick up group. It might even entice more former players to come back if they found the thread for them.

Xbone here.... would love to see an XBL thread.

It makes me sad to go into the Destiny community thread and see all the : "Need 2 for HM CE in 10 min" and 99% of them being PS4. I've tried to friend as many Destiny XBO users in that thread as I could, but an active LFG thread would get used, I'm sure of it.

Me too. I've even toyed with getting a PS4 just for the community. But then I'd have to start a whole new set of characs...

WipedOut/Homeboyd set up a bungie.net clan for XBO gaffers and it's been decent - i can just pop open the destiny app, post that i want to raid/crucible/whatever, and usually can find somebody. plus it gets badge notifications when there are new posts (i think?)

I interrupt the organization of XBoneDestinyGAF to post some relevant House of Wolves news from today's BWU:

Shortly before the hunt for the House of Wolves begins on May 19th, all players will download Update 1.2.0 for Destiny. It will be another evolution for the experience you know. Check out this preview of some of the details we released this week, as compiled with Senior Crucible Designer Derek Carroll:
  • The spawn locking issue currently affecting Iron Banner will be fixed
  • Legendary items will be added to post-game reward tables for all Crucible activities
  • Your first match in the daily featured Crucible activity will earn you a new reward package each day
  • Reputation and Mark gains will double for each completed Crucible match
  • Etheric Light has a chance of being included in Iron Banner reward packages for Rank 3 and Rank 5
  • And, finally, these maps from The Dark Below will become the domain of all and be added to the standard rotation for select playlists: *the three non PSN exclusive maps*
Seems like some good changes to the Crucible rewards, and it's very good to see the three TDB maps being put into general rotation so as to not further fragment the player base. It resolves a potential big issue with the episodic DLC model.
