Well Mike Tyson and George Foreman both side with Pacman.
And I'm not certain Mayweather will win. I just think it's absurd that MVP has spent 20 pages shouting down anyone picking against Pacquiao.

Regarding my personal pick, I'm leaning towards Mayweather. I think that Pac will definitely have his successes in the fight, but I see Mayweather getting a decision. Bradley won rounds in both of his fights with Pacquiao and Floyd is bigger than him and better than him in every dimension. I just see Floyd being able to edge it out.

That said, Floyd has looked nervous as hell for the last month and especially this week. I don't know if he's acting to hype the fight, but he legit looks scared. And all the pressure is on him. Manny has lost 5 times including 3 KO losses. Simply surviving the fight will be enough to boost his legacy. For Floyd, the stakes couldn't be higher.

The second bout was pretty close, to be honest.

I'm just damn excited.

pac won the first, jmm won the 2nd, won the 3rd big, and KO in the 4th.

not a lucky punch. Jmm has been hitting Pac with right hands throughout the years. He hit him with the same punch just two rounds prior after JMM was knocked down. The KO had more effect due to Pac rushing in.

The overwhelming opinion is what will make tonight so much sweeter. I'll side with Foreman on this one. He was in Mayweather's shoes, the undefeated fighter who looked unbeatable going up against Ali. He had already beat Frazier who beat Ali. What could go wrong? Easy win for Foreman, obviously.

Oh wait, undefeated records and industry vet opinions mean shit when you go up against a fighter with the style to beat you.

Over/under on the round Mayweather says he broke his hand in after he loses?

Watched the Showtime four episode series, the HBO At Last show, and the weigh in last night. I'm primed and ready for this fight.

Is Michael Buffer going to announce Pacquiao and Jimmy Lennon Jr going to introduce Mayweather?

Pretty much, Floyd has everything to lose while PAC can pretty much just gain.

I don't care much about boxing anymore, but I hope Manny wins because of how much I fucking hate Mayweather. The guy is a piece of shit human being and I wish him nothing good. Still, if I was betting on this fight I'd go with Mayweather every time.

Your level of certainty is absurd and hilarious.

Industry vets are overwhelmingly choosing Mayweather, including all 5 fighters who have faced both fighters.

I can't help but be reminded of this scene.

I guess we'll know the answer in a few hours.

I'm pretty sure Miguel Cotto said he was undecided. Also JMM's opinion goes out the window because he absolutely hates Manny. There was no way he'd pick him to win.

More seriously though, I think it's hard to parse how many people are picking Mayweather from the standpoint of evaluating strengths and weaknesses and how many are picking Mayweather because his winning is the status quo now. It seems like for some people, picking against Mayweather is like betting the sun won't rise tomorrow.

Money is favored for a reason but I want Manny to win and think it is a possibility but not a probability.

And virtually everyone on both sides expects it to be a close fight.

I'm not saying Mayweather is definitely going to win, I'm saying that I don't respect MVP's opinion with regards to his 100% certainty that Pac will win.

Oh I realize that. I was just sort of taking the information you presented and making a comment about it separately from your discussion with MVP. It's just like.. I get the feeling everyone thinks it will be close but they're leaning Mayweather because he just wins.

Right right.

That's certainly my take on the fight.

Boxing rule 1, always bet on black baby! Im going for money to win, possibly get a stoppage in the later rounds. Pacman is a definite threat to mayweathers 0 though.

MVP knows more about boxing than all of these people who earn their living in the sport of boxing:

So you think you know more than all the analysts picking Pacquiao in this fight?

Picking differently than someone doesn't mean you know more or less about boxing than someone, it just means you have a different opinion on how each fighter will handle what the other fighter will bring to the table.

I'm sorry for your loss if you bet on Mayweather for this fight, but he is losing tonight. He just is, I can't pretend to be unsure about it. The weigh-in was the final straw, I needed to see if he was over his insecurity about being able to beat Pacquiao and got back to being his usual abrasive, confrontational self at weigh-ins, but he isn't.

At the end of the day, I'm siding with Mayweather. He doesn't think he can beat Pacquiao, and neither do I. Dude has looked like he's attending his own funeral on May 2nd from the very beginning.

Will all the hype and and buzz I have this sinking feeling that this can only end in the most disappointing way possible. I'm talking "Unintentional Headbutt in the 2nd leads to a cut that gets the fight stopped" type of disappointment.

If that was the case then he would not take the fight. Keep trying to console yourself and reach thinking he is somehow scared. This is the same exact thing that happens each time lmao. Oscar and Hatton all over again.

This is what I was responding to:
industry vet opinions mean shit

Thank you.

Maywhether is taking a dive.

With that said as a fight fan and as a fighter myself, I am leaning toward PBF.

Well I think Mayweather will win in a unanimous decision but my heart us rooting for Pacquiao for the win by knockout.

Be the best thing for boxing if Manny wins. We'll all be back here for the rematch paying whatever they ask for on ppv. Not so much if Floyd wins though.

If Pacman wins I'm buying two of those shirts. One for collection purposes and one for everyday use. ^_^

This is what I was responding to:

Right, I'm saying they don't mean shit because they don't, they don't plug Mayweather's defensive leaks, they don't magically turn him into an active fighter that will rack up round after round.

What happens in this fight is gonna happen, regardless of industry vet opinions or my opinion.

Boxing is pretty arbitrary when it comes to how the outcomes are decided, so I'd be sceptical of anyone who is putting their prediction on lock. Unless there is a clear knockout, the winner will be decided by three individuals with their own specific opinions and interpretations of how to score a fight, which are completely different from how other judges might score it.

So why not be brash about the outcome, if MVP's wrong he'll take some shit and maybe get a new avatar or tag (the horrors!), but if he's right, he gets to crow about his genius at standing firm with an underdog.

For people hardcore supporting Manny, they can always point to how he was screwed again if there is any contention around the scoring (what are the odds on that).

If something like that happens, the world would explode. I can't even imagine what the Philippines would be like. A week-long celebration at least I think. But yeah, similarly to Silva in MMA, for a lot of people Mayweather getting a W is a foregone conclusion.

I favor Pacquiao but really, I'm just excited to see the fight happen.

If that was the case then he would not take the fight. Keep trying to console yourself and reach thinking he is somehow scared. This is the same exact thing that happens each time lmao. Oscar and Hatton all over again.

You're right, and he didn't take the fight, for a very long time. Oscar and Hatton are irrelevant here, completely different type of fighters than Pacquiao.

Ali's legacy is completely different than his W/L record and tied as much to things he did outside the ring, as well as even fights he lost (first Frazier fight). Nobody will ever be able to match his legacy.

Well said. Even if we only look at his W/L record, we have to keep in mind that the talent pool (in many countries) has shrunk dramatically in the past decades, not just in the heavyweight division.
Mayweather is an incredible boxer, but Ali is unquestionably the greatest. Floyd could keep winning for years and he would never match Ali.

When floyd wins i want him to fight khan next.

So, betting markets are around 15/8.
I'm nearly thinking of throwing a fifty on someone, so i'll actually be rooting for someone watching it.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

To be fair, Mike Tyson hates Mayweather. Said he wasn't impressed AT ALL in the Canelo fight, but thought Manny looked sensational and had the better performance against Brandon Rios.

Actually Mike Tyson doesn't like how PBF disrespects Ali, well Mike sees it as disrespect, and we all know how much Mike Tyson idolizes Ali, and rightfully so.

if mayweather wins...does his legacy surpass Ali's?

No. For better or worse, Ali was a voice for the marginalised and downtrodden. He was loved and supported across the entire world. Mayweather has the admiration and respect of many as a boxer, but only of a few as a man. Ali had both.

When he loses, he should fight Amir in Wembley, that'll be a nice fight to recover his image. I hope Pacquiao refuses him the rematch and makes him sit on the loss. That would truly fuck with him.

Your posts in this thread have been embarassing bro. Either you're trolling or you're setting yourself up for a shock.

No thanks. I feel like Khan doesn't have the focus required to be a challenge. I'd rather see someone more dynamic get the nod. I think Keith Thurman would be interesting.

What? Khan looks more focused than ever and keith is not ready by far. Keith is just a power puncher and needs to flesh out his boxing skills and defense.

Refusing an exciting and/or deserved rematch is an easy way to taint a legacy.

I love comments like this, it always spells out the folks who know very little about boxing.

You're right man, Mayweather's gonna win just cuz bro, I've never seen him lose so fuck it, he'll win tonight too. Just like every other fight, no analysis needed, styles don't matter. Team Money baby.

Mayweather has this fight tonight, just have my money ready ;)

BTW, if you come to your senses before fight time and see what I see, I'll let you buy out for 50%. I don't want to hurt anyone, I just like making people pay a little for disagreeing with me.

The first 3 fights vs. Marquez tell a different story. You keep hanging on to his lucky KO and then Mayweather's performance vs. Marquez as your last hope.

You do realize JMM was robbed in 1 of those fights, and another could have gone either way, right?
