I agree, I like the suit the more I look at it. What's driving people crazy is that the mask doesn't fit Charlie's face correctly. He doesn't have a symmetrical lower face which is throwing the whole thing out of whack. The nose piece is probably too short or too long as well. They should do the full open nose like the comic DD, or cover it like Batman. But the rest of the suit is perfectly fine, it's red and has black armor plates in areas where he'd need it. I kinda wish they'd show us a fully lit promo costume test pic so we can see it in all it's glory.

Yea the whole eye and nose are too pointy, gives him an odd bird face. Really should have given it softer edges and more roundness instead of the sharp angles. I do hope the mask part is altered for next season

I feel like I'm on Bizzaro Earth where people like D'onofiro's performance and hate DD's costume.

Body armor is a perfectly sensible take on the character, since the alternative is that he's constantly getting cut up and being too stupid to realize he needs it, or he's an invincible super ninja that no one ever manages to touch because something something heightened senses.
Loved the whole season, but the parkour in the last episode was really jarring for me.
Kind of agree. I get that there was a need for rapid traversal to keep up, but there were a lot of random flourishes (swan dive, rolling around for no reason) that just did not seem to have legitimate purpose outside of looking cool.

Finally finished the series and absolutely loved it and I'm looking forward to the next season.

If I had two major problems with it were these:

Wesley's death. Fucking what!? What a fucking stupid way to die. I was actually staring mouth a gap in disbelief that he got killed in such a way. I admit I'm bias because I love characters like him as well.

Fisk constantly portrayed as to kettle of rage always near the point of snapping someone's neck off.

hes not a ninja, hes a super hero. deal with it

I hope he never goes back to that boring ass black ninja look(which Ironfist already will look like) and they keep the red costume with some improvements.

I didn't like the black suit when they first revealed it but it completely won me over.
It's perfect for the tone of the show.
The new suit is just gross and really stands out from the rest of the show in a real goofy and bad way.

Like, just upgrade the black one with the new fabric/material. That would have been perfect.

I concur. The tone is the essence, and the red suit sort of ruins that.

What tone does the red suit ruin that a guy in a t-shirt with a fucking blindfold (that no one ever comments on) on doesn't?

The body armor is what makes sense, it's the nonsense spent as "The Man in the Mask" that fucks things up for me. The sin isn't the suit design, but that they took so long to get there. DD should have been iterating on armor options the second he caught a knife to the side.

The street tone. The home made-dont-give-shit-about-looks-tone.

And the sin is actually the design of the red suit. Make it padded, somwhat, sure. But keep it "home made" so it still has the street tone.

We've been shown that the "armour" can be as flexable and light as a suit jacket. It's why Daredevil wats his suit made out of it, he tried to cut Fisk and it didn't go through his jacket. It doesn't need extra padding to make it un-cuttable. They could get away with a skin tight spandex suit with no padding if they want and it makes sense in universe and might look better.

Except the "home made-dont-give-shit-about-looks" look is actually "don't give a shit about effectiveness or safety look."

The idea that he would be out there doing this without body armor harms mortally wounds believability and calls into question his intelligence that he would be out there doing this without taking adequate precautions. Padding isn't going to stop a knife, it's going to make him look like those ridiculous kids superhero costumes these days.

(Granted this is a step up from back in my day when you had a plastic smock with a picture of the character on your chest and a face mask secured by a piece of string...)

Body armor exists on a consumer level. It makes all the sense in the world for a guy going up against armed criminals to wear it. It makes no sense for a guy going up against armed criminals to *not* wear it. Saying it's not "street tone" is kind of ridiculous.

The Netflix "4K" presentation is disappointing, there are massive compression blocks everywhere. Looks decent at times but compared to a blu-ray it's lacking. Not sure if it's just the show though as Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt looked a lot better at Netflix's normal 1080P bitrate. Definitely is the 4K version though as my TV says it's outputting at the resolution after the first few seconds of the stream.

Only on episode 5 so I'm interested to see how this might tie into the greater universe. Tonally it's completely out of place compared to the other Marvel films I've seen that I can't imagine how it'd work.

It doesn't mesh well at all, honestly. I enjoyed it as a standalone thing, but so far the TV expansion of the MCU isn't rocking my world.

Can you imagine the Huk and the Thor standing next to this Daredevil in this universe?

Ew.

Keep the ninja look. Seriously. Aside from that this is a great show.

Yeah. I don't think he has the face for a helmet. He looks like a totally different person. Doesn't have the jawline or something. Or maybe it's the neck stuff. Either way something's off in the face area.

Maybe not keeping the old costume, but really needs some tweaks.

Yep. Like I said though, I THINK. I would definitely not be surprised if
she
made an appearance in season 2, and they had a flashback sequence to their
college
days.

Elektra is def one of the girls that "didnt work out" for Matt while in Col U.

I definitely agree that he should have been iterating more as he got hurt. I was really hoping to see a version of the yellow costume based on that. Like, I can totally imagine him putting on a yellow jumpsuit, throwing a black kevlar vest over it, and then adding a mask and putting some boots on... like this:

This show is all over the place tonally, it's gone from Daredevil beating low level street thugs who torture people in awful ways to Daredevil fighting ACTUAL NINJAS. I'm not familiar with the franchise so it just feels like it's all over the place, especially with the wacky spy adventures of his partner and the secretary. Still enjoying it so far though, Fisk is an interesting character and I like all of D'Onofrio's mannerisms.

I'm looking forward to the Hulk slowly ripping off limbs for information in the next Avengers movie.

Not reading replies or posts unless they're to me b/c I'm on episode 4 but is Fisk this socially awkward in the comics or just their interpretation?

Granted I've never been a follower of DD, but all other portrayals of Kingpin I'm familiar with portrays him as a sophisticated wealthy socialite.

In the comics Fisk tends to be a pretty straight forward villain. They expand him a bit in Punisher Max and show how intelligent he really is and how he played all of the mobsters against each other to take over and become Kingpin. That said he is downright vile in Punisher Max.

I think for the series they decided to humanize him a bit instead of just being your standard by the number bad guy. He could have been a better person but life shit on him and then in his rise to power he basically had to stay completely invisible which didn't help his social graces and considering he was a fat "loser" as a kid it wasn't likely he had much of a social life then either.

Here's something most viewers haven't noticed: Throughout the season, DD adds padding and armour to his black outfit. It's very subtle. New combat gloves, arm pads, elbow pads, knee pads etc.

I noticed that he added the stick holsters or whatever and gloves, but he needed to be adding stuff to the torso. It was like, what, episode 2 that he was in a dumpster with a stab wound to the abdomen?

Was anyone else bothered with the depiction of the legal aspects of the series? It seemed to be all over the map. Nominally, Nelson and Murdoch were in it to help the people of Hell's Kitchen, but Foggy bribes a cop to tip them off to "interesting" cases, and their first case is a seemingly open-and-shut murder case with Kate and Foggy wants to plead it out. But then their second case is Fisk's hitman, and Foggy makes the call that they shouldn't be defending the guy, but Matt overrules him because they need the money/he needs to get closer to Fisk (because apparently he couldn't trust that anyone else would be able to get the guy off so he could interrogate him in an alley later?). Then in the last episode, they represent the one guy who has the testimony to put Kingpin away, and they don't let him make any sort of deal whatsoever? That seems like being kind of a shitty lawyer to not even attempt to make a deal on behalf of your client.

Really it seemed the tenancy case was the only thing that had any sort of consistency with their stated moral principles...

I forgot they were lawyers for most of the series. Out of 13 hour long episodes they represent two people(the third they completely fuck over) and their argument lasts several episodes so the office isn't even mentioned outside of True Blood crying about how close they used to be.

Did I miss something with Vanessa and why she got with Fisk? I kept expecting her to call the Japanese business man and report in.

I kept wondering how they kept the lights on.

Good points made.

Ben dying was unexpected as hell.

Not for me. Flash-GAF spoiled me on that part, if I remember correctly. It was fun knowing it all along, from episode one :P
No, it was not fucking fun. It could have been an amazing and shocking, sad twist.

Watched it all recently.

Over all it's okay. Probably one of the most disappointing things was
the fight with Nobu being a lot better than the finale fight with Fisk. The final fight just didn't feel satisfying at all

And then there's an uncomfortable theme of "torture works"

Just finished Season 1. Was so awesome and finally made me forget that horrible movie.

D'Onofrio nailed it. Amazing portrayal of Kingpin. Overshadowed Cox whom I thought was great as Murdock and DD as well. Stick was great as well.

All the characters were great although I found Foggy mostly annoying (and not really funny).

Can't really think of anything negative. Mostly nitpicks:

The costume is a bit "meh" so I hope it's a work in progress like Melvin said.
The first half of the season was better than the second half. Things kind of rush to a conclusion, ex. Matt and Foggy suddenly make up. Still I couldn't stop watching, I want more like now.
Final fight with Kingpin didn't feel anywhere as dramatic as the fight with Nobu. They kind of dropped the ball there.

Just finished.

Karen is a fucking horrible horrible character. Poorly acted, responsible for every single shit thing that happens in the whole fucking series. Fuck her.

Great series. Really good stuff. And Holy shit @ the actor who is playing Wilson Fisk (I remember him from Full Metal Jacket). What an amazing perfomance he is delivering. Unbelievable. This is almost Heath Ledger's Joker level. You can literally feel his pain and the permanent inner conflict. In one moment he is this little kid with a fucked up childhood and in the next moment he becomes this brutal monster. The last fight between Kingpin and Daredevil was such an amazing ride of emotions. Absolutely stunning. And very very good writing. Never thought I would somehow sympathise with Kingpin in my life lol

If I have to hear him say "I am trying to save this city" one more time lol

Also the outfit isn't that bad, Could be way better. I don't understand Vanessa or why she is with Fisk.

Potential flashback for her in season 2 or future as to why she stood with him.

Just occurred to me that it would be rad if the second season had flashbacks of Wesley meeting with her to talk about Fisk.

I don't understand Vanessa or why she is with Fisk.

She was clearly attracted to him and he treated her well. All she asked was that he be honest with her and he was. That's more than enough for most women.

Once she got over her fear it was smooth sailing. I'm sure his money and power didn't hurt either.
