AP: NFL finds it probable that Patriots deliberately deflated balls

No, this is completely different.

The NFL tried to cover up Rice by saying "lol we didn't see the tape", they did zero investigating to try to keep some decent reputation for Rice and the league.

This investigation is the antithesis of the Rice investigation.

Just talking about the punishment when all info in.

Brady gonna get Bradyd by jimmy

Bledsoe smiling

Picks up phone.

"Yes, we have informed the league of the deflation of the footballs."

"Quite, everything is going to plan, they will never see it coming."

"Mr. Wells has been informed, he is already to take action on command."

"Nothing will be able to stop what's about to be put in motion, don't you worry."

"Goodbye... Mr. Bledsoe."

I think we're done here.

Sanjuro would be proud

The bigger issue now, imo, is the fact that he lied. If he would've fessed up when this all came out, he'd be fine.

If he fessed up before the superbowl he could have gotten suspended for the game.

I'm sure that was great consideration in what Brady and Co. was going to do when this stuff went public.

Zero chance this is more than a five game suspension.

The NFL isn't going to pass up the chance of the biggest grudge match ever with Brady going to Indi on a Sunday night.

That would technically be a 4-game suspension given the bye week. Your logic is sound, though.

I want Brady to play for the Houston game I want my Texans to beat his cheating ass. I just hope nobody looks at BOB crazy because of this shit.

He will get a 4-5 game suspension...brought down to 3 so that he can debut in Dallas for a big game. It would be a huge game anyways, but they won't let him not play week 5.

I'd love it if he didn't play week 5 (Cowboys fan)

Which is why the penalty may be a bit more severe. He knowingly lied. Cheated his way into the Super Bowl. Who knows how long this has been going on.

I'm not saying I agree, but if Goodell goes easy on him, it'll look as if he cares more about player behavior off the field than players cheating on the field. It will obviously have a racial element with it as well. I don't think he can risk that.

As a Bills fan, I am fine with any proposed suspension that lasts at least 2 games and goes no more than 5 games. I feel that's more than fair.

Why do people keep saying that they beat the Colts by 38 points, so it doesn't matter?

People are saying this like he wasn't deflating balls all season, and the week before when the Patriots won by three points after coming back from two 14-point deficits.

Are we also going to forget how they systematically cheated their way to three previous titles, only to have the Commissioner of the NFL burn the evidence for no apparent reason.

The Pats are cheaters. Their legacy is a sham. Brady is A-Rod. Trumped up stats built off cheating. He probably would have been a good player without the cheating, but the cheating clouds everything.

People who hold Brady and Belichick in high regard probably believe Barry Bonds is the real Home Run King.

Are you outraged by this?

I bet Brady poisoned McNabb's food before the Superbowl too!

Jabee, I took this selfie just for you.

The other day my boss approached me asking why I was so down. I told him I spent the night before reading the fallout from the wells report. He laughed and said I would have better spent my time jerking it to maxim than reading that crap. And he's right. I'm not sure why I've been so down about this. Spygate was far worse. Haters be damned. At this point, the only thing I care about is making sure Brady is there when I see the pats play. If he isn't, that would extremely suck but I'll root on Jimmy with full enthusiasm if that's the case.

Haters be damned.

Wrong. Spygate was nothing. Taping opponents signals is legal and was always happening, you just couldn't do it on the sideline past 2006.

This is actually something to a degree, real rules were broken and it's not legal at all to tamper with the balls after final inspection.

Why is the legal PSI range where it is? Is there a downside to giving the quarterbacks slightly better grip?

Arbitrary range that the league didn't care about as the NFL never physically recorded pressures before games and only checked the half time pressure readings for one game. NFL didn't even care to know that cold weather can drop pressure below the stated minimum so the league has been using deflated balls all the time.

Did you have a problem when balls were tampered with in the Panthers/Vikings game last November?

Sure, they broke the rules.

But this is basically the case where the cover up is worse than the crime.

Like I said before, I don't really think this is that big of a deal when compared to the leagues past cheaters and much more bigger violations, like the Broncos cheating the cap in when they won back in the late 1990's.

The one thing nobody has when they shit on the Pats is perspective, because if you have that than most of your arguments about "perpetual cheaters" and "tainting the Superbowl" is lost.

You believe this? The NFL didn't care?

You believe this? The NFL didn't care?

They didn't. How can you say they did? They never recorded anything on paper or documented anything in terms of pressure. Even in the report, the pre game readings are based on the officials word, not on any documentation. The only readings we have are from the half time of one game and in those readings, some Colt balls were also below 12.5 PSI so the letter of the rule is something that has been violated constantly since this rule has come into being. The issue is the tampering but the actual pressure rule is beyond meaningless. The fact that the NFL didn't really understand ideal gas law and had to get a third party to investigate it as they didn't already have documentation on it shows that very little care was taken with this rule.
