I am fixated because when you play an entire season where pretty much every game was over at half time and one team was able to contest from whistle to whistle and nearly win the game, you take notice. Scrubs they were not and history proves they weren't.

Hindsight is 20/20 though.

Aside from Giants fans nobody realistically gave them a shot.

Dont care about football anymore but thats a fucking joke. They should wipe out the entire season stats for Brady and all and the stupid super bowl win.

I couldn't care any less about NFL or whether this is fair or unfair, but I'm looking forward to hearing what Bill Burr says about it on his podcast. Hoping for apologetic rant.

I cannot comprehend how winning every single game you've played in a season, and then losing the one that matters the most (by far) isn't classified as a choke lol. Like what?

Pats fans gettin' crazy when backed into a corner.

Big-E are you seriously going to sit there and try to downplay 18-1 as NOT a monumental choke on an order of magnitude that few chokes can reach because you think losing to a mediocre Giants team with exactly one elite unit that barely survived two games against the two best NFC teams (they almost blew both of those games in crushing fashion, people forget this) and which your team dropped 38 on a mere month and a half earlier was no big deal?

QB's have trouble when a four man rush gets major pressure?

slow.gif

PFF did a study, and Brady has been a bottom 10 QB in the NFL when dealing with pressure for years. Alas, it is a premium stat. Brady gets in serious, serious trouble when he is pressured (ala Kurt Warner). Some QBs (Wilson, Manning, Luck) do really well under pressure relative to other QBs under pressure.

One version of it

Giants hung on by a thread to get into the playoffs and then barely beat three teams to get to the SB. They were probably shocked they made it that far.

Hate to do a driveby post but as a pats fan that doesn't take a child's game played by grown ups all that seriously, and the fact that I think both pats haters and other pats fans are both delusional and goal post moving I am mostly content just to read the thread.

However( and to prove my point about my fellow pats fans delusion) I cannot sit and watch multiple people claim the Giants were the only challenge .

Anyone who cares more about the game as a whole than laundry has a very clear picture of the Ravens being one misplaced Rex Ryan call from handing the pats a very embarrassing loss. So if you are truly proud that the team finished the season undefeated give Rex the credit he deserves.

Without that timeout the Ravens beat the pats and dominated that game fair and square.

I know return you to your previously scheduled argument.

I think that there is a back room deal where he was gonna get 6 games, but NE and Brady agreed to 4. They'll do an "appeal" and get denied to put up w/ appearances. Some people are convinced that this will go to 2 games, but I just can't see that happening. Just look at the backlash over a measly 4 games.

That's more likely a result of their offensive playbook than Brady's individual skill. Pats are all about midrange, quick-release passes. If that pass is not there immediately, it's likely the play fell apart.

(not a Pats fan; just a wannabe analyst)

I was definitely among those that thought the Ravens got robbed and shot themselves in the foot that game.

It's interesting because we don't have Moss era stats as much; and Brady just rarely gets pressured. If it was as bad when he had Moss; then I think it's a Brady thing. Also, he did get his ACL torn in a muddied pocket in 2008. Could be gun-shy.

So Big-E, how do you spend your millions? Clearly you won tons of money betting on the 18-0 Patriots to lose to the obviously superior Giants.
I actually bet on the Giants to beat them in the regular season.

Sports are about matchups. Tom Brady sucks under constant pressure. For example, he Couldn't even get 17 points against a team that sneaked in as a wildcard! There was a time when like 5 of Brady's 6 worst games were against Jason Taylor's Dolphins. That Giants DLine was a lot better than any DLine the fins ever had. Well, until this year :D

Lol local fox news calls bs on this. So Bill Belicheat, the man behind the whole Patriots organization, was not aware of Brady cheating. No suspension for him. Meanwhile Sean Payton who was also not aware of bountygate, was suspended a whole season. Mike Doocy doesn't buy it folks.

I hope every team cheats from now on, thats what the NFL condones. Im sure every team is willing to give up 2 draft picks just to win 1 Super Bowl. Hell teams in every sport is willing to give 1 first rounder just for certain players. $1 million fine is a joke by the NFL considering its chump change to the owners. Thats like $100 to them.

I don't get it, so we are down playing the fact that the giants won it all and beat the team no one else could in the only game that mattered end of the day?

Then when the Patriots have a shot at revenge, they lose.......again.

idk....I know emotions are running high today, but lets not take away victories just because they were not blow outs.

Tomorrow will fly by at work with all the sports stations i'll be hopping back and forth from to hear all the various opinions.

I'll save Mad Dog flipping his lid for the end

Sorry, but that 18-1 hold no power over me anymore.

Winning 4 rings kinda does that to ya

End of the day it could have been 6 rings....but..you know...Giants

I will give the NO fans some leeway; considering how hard Sean Payton got hit (and the aftermath when Tagliabue basically pointed out the investigation was wrong) - I can see them being upset about BB getting away. That said, I didn't agree with suspending Payton then, and I wouldn't agree with BB now unless there was some evidence he knew.

I never said I thought the Giants were going to win. I would never bet against Brady. I can just respect when match-ups are not favourable to blowouts and winning isn't assured. I still have faith in my team to win every week as every fan should of their team.

The have evidence that Brady asked for balls to be deflated. Deflating balls is 100% Legal to a certain point.

They have ZERO evidence that Brady asked for balls to be deflated below the legal limit.

There should be a defamation lawsuit coming up. This has been a smear campaign from the start.

Fuck the NFL.... I'm done with you; Should have been 1 year ban no pay, strip the entire team of the Super Bowl rings. What a fucking joke.

No surprise that the Pats got off relatively easy. A bit more than a slap on the wrist, but nothing that will do much damage.

The way to hurt this team is to get Belichick, and they completely let him off the hook. I remember Goodell was all ignorance is no excuse back when it was Sean Payton, and no one actually believes that Belichick didn't know about all this.

This thread is the best.

I think the difference is that BountyGate dealt with coaches that Sean Payton was directly in charge of. In this scenario we're talking about a ball boy that is way below a head coach.

If we're lucky, this will eventually become a Law & Order episode with "Shrill Pats Fans" listed in the credits as themselves.

Over partly deflated balls in a game they dominated anyway?

I don't have a dog in this race, but come on. Striping a team of their Super Bowl damages the leagues credibility to a degree that far exceeds the "cheating" itself.

I would wager that you were in the minority, but good call if so.

anybody who objectively had seen the giants play up to that point and watched their regular season finale knew their was still a big game to be played. It obviously didn't help that Randy Moss had his whole scandal and Brady was dealing with some foot injury, but that's no excuse- the gameplan was garbage from the get go. The pats hadn't dealt with a game situation like that enough during the season to adjust. If anybody choked that game it was the coaches. That front 7 for the giants was NASTY and they carried it over to the next season.

Honestly those 18-1 hurt for a while and this year did plenty to put that to rest, they finally did just enough to get over that hump. It's unfortunate because Tom did this to himself, which is why I'm so conflicted on him right now. This is an incredibly shady move on his part. Is there enough conclusive evidence? I mean sure it's all circumstantial, but it's easy to fill in those blanks.

At the end of the day Tom played great in the 2nd half of the colts game, and played great in the superbowl outside of 1 awful throw (the 2nd pick was ugly, but Wagner showed why he's a monster with effortless closing speed and baiting Tom). That being said at the end of the day- did the 1 psi difference really contribue much? No, but it was the way it all went down, it's easy to see that. I think Brady is/was great, but this was likely a result of poking the bear one too many times when it comes to the whole "patriot way" and the way Bill thumbs his nose at GMs and how Tom carries himself.

I'm a pats fan, but it's conflicting and will be going forward while Tom is still here.

That means nothing. winning is never assured. There were more than a few teams that matched up favorably to the Pats that year that lost, most notably the Ratbirds.

If you were so confident that the game was going to be a coin flip pick 'em after the Pats had a perfect regular season and largely uneventful playoffs you're a goof for not putting money on the Giants, fan or no.

The problem is we will never know definitively if the NFL knows, knew or whatnot of any type of "cheating" that the Pats did during the Super Bowl. This is precedence setting of which the NFL has the responsibility to drop the hammer on any team that engages in this type of behavior to gain competitive advantage and in all things... the GD Super Bowl.

Here's the only article about deflategate worth reading.

MMBM: What's really on Tom Brady's cell phone? - PFTCommenter

In my opinoin, this is the classic confuscious conundrum. Grigson has proven, by telling on the Patriots, that he doesnt value the integrity of the game. Only the TRUE nfl champion would love the game so much that they would do anything- even cheat- in order to win it. Its ironic that Grigson was really telling on himself when he went behind his own back and complained to the league. Who knows, maybe Grigson misinterpreted a text from Irsay asking him to look into "the 8 balls" and instead complained to Goodell about 12 of them.

...

Thats not to say that Tom Brady doesnt deserve punishment as well. Bradys biggest crime in this whole deal is refusing to provide his cell phone to NFL investigators. I dont really care about what he may or may not of texted to the equipment guys, but the very fact that Tom likley has hot nude pictures of his wife that he is refusing to share with the fans who literally pay his salary is disrespectful at least. By not providing his cell phone it truly tells us that he dosent even trust Roger Goodell to look at his wife naked, as is his right as Bradys boss.

Oh boy, can't wait to hear Bill Burr rant on his next podcast.

He went a little crazy in the most recent one, which was taped before the punishment, but he kinda knew that 2-4 games were being talked about.

He said he would boycott the NFL and just watch college for a season.

I don't believe him lol.
