I was level 21 when I completed the quest.
Wait a minute.
I met Hattori when I was 14 or so, but I waited a long time before going through his quest because, you know, it was way over my level.
Does it mean the reward's level was decided the minute I talked to Hattori and not when I finished his quest ?
That would be fucking stupid.

This is how my quest with her ended up, and shortly afterwards, while wandering around, I came across her house. I went inside and legit felt awkward being inside, knowing I had just recently killed her. Like I actually felt guilty, in real life. This game, man.

Try saving/reloading on a new file and see if it works. If that doesn't work then try loading a save previous to getting that dialogue/cutscene. I know it's not bugged because I did it but maybe there's a bug where you have to go the fuck back to get certain dialogue as I have a bug later in the game where one character and only one character won't speak to me.
Once the patch hits I'm trying both reloading the save I have in front of her and the one I have that's a couple of missions behind.

There's a seat at the bow of the ship, sit down on it and you'll start.
You may be doing the same thing I did, go to the other end of the boat and you can interact with it.
Man I had the same problem you have to go to the other end of the bot and press E, I was jumping on and off for a good few minutes wondering WTF is going on.

I went back to previous save when that happened in mine my game.

Can you explain how it got to that point? I did the same quest and it ended much differently.
Also :
1-The monster can touch you even even you dodge at the right time and got 1m50 behind him
2-There is no point in dodging when he rushes toward you and follows you whatever you can
3-Quen is inefficient 50% of the time because of continuous attacks
Only 2 more levels than me, I killed monsters that had 8 or 9 more levels without a problem and without the right oil or anything.
The combat system is still a beta. The writing won't help much here.

By talking to one of the swordsmiths in Velen.
Can't remember which one, sorry, but you'll have a dialog option to ask where you can get some mastercrafted swords.
Edit : I wouldn't bother with it tough since a quick google search confirms the sword you get for this quest ends up being underleved anyway. Shame, hope they'll patch that.

Anyone have any tips/suggestion on what I should make sure I DON'T sell or drop?
Should I hang on to any of my starting swords or anything? Any specific ingredients or items I shouldn't break down?
How about those things that seem to sell a lot, like necklaces and rings, should I sell them? Break them down?

It makes sense for the game. It's a way to give you the option to go for Triss without Geralt always wanting to be with Yen because they were forced to be soulmates in a novel that preceded the game series. And the reason makes sense too. To find out if you truly love each other or are forced to
