Just finished the Of Swords and Dumplings quest.

It was way too long to my liking, lots of fetching stuff, going back and forth. But I went through it because I was promised a legendary sword in the end. I was sure it would be worth it, because the advised level for this quest was 24.

Result : Level 14 sword with barely any perks and a single rune slot.

WHY

Thanks for the warning! Was just about to start this quest, lol.

Yennfer's personal quest ending spoiler.

I'm kind of butthurt she went to all that trouble to remove Geralt's last wish. HOW COULD YOU YEN!? Triss would have never done that...
Even that blonde mage is nicer to Geralt than Yen is.

Did you not listen to the dialogue? I thought her reasoning was pretty spot on.

Holy shit Endrega Drones are tough motherfuckers when they fight in groups.

Got ambushed by four of them in Ard Skellig forest. I got absolutely ravaged.

Can't remember which one, sorry, but you'll have a dialog option to ask where you can get some mastercrafted swords.

Edit : I wouldn't bother with it tough since a quick google search confirms the sword you get for this quest ends up being underleved anyway. Shame, hope they'll patch that.
Ah ok, thanks though, ill probably still do it if I find it.

Another crash after beating a boss.

Please re-launch the game, watch again the unskippable summaries and wait for another infinite loading screen.

Can you explain how it got to that point? I did the same quest and it ended much differently.

When we went on the hot date to eat and drink the fine goods which I had retrieved for her, we ploughed and then she put me to sleep via a spell. I had told her that I left Alexander the mage's notes inside the tower, so Geralt figured thats where she went/why he was put under a sleeping spell. Go there to find her, she has the notes, and is planning on giving them to someone (who's name and whatnot escaped me at the moment). I was not having that, because through the conversation it sounded like it was a bad idea. I told her neither of us were leaving without me getting those notes. She attacked first and I killed her. Fucking tragic, really. I felt guilty but she clearly was up to no good and had been deceiving all along.

The sword is junk, it's true, but you can't craft any master swords until you do it. That's the actual reward. If you aren't ready to make one, there's no rush

65 hours in and still farting around on side quests.

Felt so good to tell
Yen to fuck off after using the Djnn to reverse the spell
.

This game has side quests that have more plot and development then other games main story. Holy shit this game keeps getting better and better

Not sure how long I've played, but I'm at level 21 and need to go find
Uma.

I just finished
The Lord of Undvik, King's Gambit, and Coronation
and damn that was a really interesting story. I ended up having
Cerys become the queen. She seemed like she would be a better ruler than her brother who charges into everything without thinking.

I also ended up
denying Yen. I haven't read any of the books, but she seems so bossy and I'm not sure the word, but arrogant? It was kinda heartbreaking to see her after I dumped her though. Really good acting, and I felt bad for doing it. Oh well, team Triss all the way

The music in this game is AMAZING.

Can someone explain to me what Geralts last wish was and why Yen
reversed it?

In the short story collection when they first meet they're fighting a djin. Geralt has the last wish and is into Yen, so he wishes that they'd always be together or something of the sort as it was a "we need to wish something or die" situation. He didn't mean to become soulmates with her as far as I'm aware

Yenn/triss spoiler:
So I still decided that I loved Yennifer in my game because Triss didn't want to stay, but I feel like such a whipped dog now. Wish I could reverse it, Yenn is such a bitch, and she just feels like a worst replacement for the better Triss. Oh well.

Thought about that a few times when watching stuff play out. If I did something else first it will change the way the current one plays out.

Gonna hold off till the enhanced edition comes out to replay it.

I love when a sidequest comes out of nowhere and is unbelievably awesome and deep. Just started the one where you meet
the other legit Witcher, from the first two I believe

How far along am I?

Whoreson spoiler
just slayed his sadistic ass
did a bunch of side quests in Novigrad too. Triss spoiler
kissed her, she left to go flee w the mages I believe

So yeah, how deep in the story am I? I hope it never ends at this rate.

CDPR, you da real MVP ❤😢

Just something I realised while playing and wanted to share (mid to late game main quest spoiler):

When I went to kill Imlerith with Ciri and then witnessed the reactions of both Triss and Yen afterwards, I was so happy that I did the right thing and chose Yen. Triss was all 'HOW COULD YOU DO THAT IT WAS DANGEROUS YOU COULD HAVE DIED' while Yen said something in the lines of 'Was it your idea, or hers? - Hers - I thought so. It was obvious you couldn't stop her so it's great to know that you went with her'. And people say Yen is bitchy and possessive.

I don't know how I'm going to live through witnessing Yen's reaction to Geralt telling her that
he no longer loves her
on my second playthrough, where I want to check the different consequences to all major choices. I think my heart will actually break.

Hot damn Whirl is fucking dope. I clear my abilites and pushed it all into Attack with red mutagens. My attack is nearly 1000 for Silver and 600 for Steel. Combined with the Bear armour I feel a beast.

Took these while out hunting for cannibals. Oil'd and tweaked in Photoshop.

I have two side quest questions:

First one is to do with the one where you meet the other witcher
while doing a beast contract. I am supposed to meet him in Forlorn or something after we killed a bunch of guards and he said he wants to avenge his witcher friend but that place doesn't show up in the map and the quest marker keeps showing whatever is the nearest fast travel. I checked everywhere. Is that in a place I haven't unlocked yet?

The second one is the treasure hunt quest for cat clan
I did the first couple but now it is asking me to investigate some place below noviigrad and I wasted three hours looking for it and I couldn't find a way to reach there. Anyone know the one I am talking about? The marker for it is right next to a cliff next to the ocean but the entrance must be in some totally different place because there is no way to get there from outside that I can see.

Thanks in advance!

Now I'm stuck in the middle of the ocean because my boat doesn't want to go in any direction. Hopefully this is a free open pre-alpha that I'm playing.

I've never played the other so I'm still a bit sketchy on details.
Er, what gave you that idea?
The exact wording of his wish is never stated, but it's
something that binds their fates together. The wish saved her life and impressed her enough that she became infatuated with Geralt, but she's a free spirit and a huge asshole, so she'd rather free herself from being attached to one person, magically or otherwise.

For your first question, the location will unlock later in the game. I wish the game had made that clearer too.
For the second question, there's a pathway that will lead you to the cliffs in the temple island area. Don't look for the sewers or shit like that, it's on the far left of the area. Stay on the edge of the cliff, keep going down, you'll end up in a cave. Don't forget to pick up the Witcher Hunter armor on the way, it has pretty neat stats.

sorry for the extremely newb questions but this game is kinda vague about it

i just met triss.

who is fighting in the war? nillfgarden vs ??.. who are the leaders of each side?

who is radovid?

temeria used to be in the area where nillfgarrden is but i guess they lost the war?

heh, thanks.

All good...I'll try to explain it as best as I could. Mainly spoilers from Witcher 2.

Northern Kingdoms have 4 main kingdoms you should know about: Temeria, Redania, Aedirn, and Kaedwen.

four_kingdoms_crests_small.png

In the South, there is ONLY one kingdom here... It's Nilfgaard.

latest

Nilfgaard resembles the Roman empire. They are conquerors and ruled by the Emperor Emhyr...who happens to be Ciri's biological father.

The Northern Kingdoms were all powerful kingdoms that at one point joined forces to fight against Nilfgaard. They succeeded, there was a temporary truce and Nilfgaard stopped their invasion. Witcher 1 basically starts here.

At the beginning of Witcher 2, shit starts going downhill for the Northern Kingdoms.

Temeria - King dies at the beginning of TW2. Geralt was framed for his murder (later proved innocent).

Redania - It is ruled by Radovid. He's a mad king. Doesn't take shit from anyone. He was practically raised by Dijkstra (former head of intelligence of Redania) and Philippa Eilhart (the sorceress and an ambassador of Redania) when his father (the previous king) was murdered. They had planned to take the throne from Radovid, but shit didn't end well. Now both Dijkstra and Philippa are some of the most wanted criminals of Redania.

Aedirn - King died at the beginning of TW2.

Kaedwen - King dies as well during Witcher 2 depending on the choices you make... (or he still dies before the Witcher 3 begins... I believe this is explained in a short conversation).

So how did these kings die? Nilfgaard planned it all. Hired a Witcher to assassinate each king in order for the Northern Kingdoms to weaken so Nilfgaard can strike. And that's exactly what happens...after each king was being assassinated, the other kingdoms like Redania, Aedirn and Kaedwen were fighting for who gets the land. At the end of TW2, Nilfgaard invades. It ended on a cliffhanger. So basically...Nilfgaard is at war with Redania. Nilfgaard wants to conquer the entire Northern Kingdoms, including Redania, the only nation that didn't get completely shit on during the events of the Witcher 2. Nilfgaard has basically already taken over whatever was left of Temeria.

Regarding Triss and all the other mages... Throughout TW2, Philippa Eilhart (one of the strongest sorceresses) was caught by Radovid's men and her true intentions were revealed. Radovid cut out both her eyes and was left to rot in a prison cell. However, Geralt freed her because he needed help with something only Philippa could help him with. Afterwards, she escaped. Now, Radovid has gone completely mad and has ordered all magic users to be killed and tortured (by burning them alive) since there was a threat to overtake the throne.

I know that was long, but hope this helps.

you do it because of the crafstman himself, not the reward.

21.

I'll find master schemes later in the game I suppose ?

Still, considering how tedious the quest was compared to the vast majority of the others in the game, I think it was fair to expect something that I would, you know... use and not sell 5 seconds later.
The quest for the Master Armorer seems much more exciting.

A sword that would cut down Gods, or whatever he said. Yeah right.

Am I the only person that double crossed the people in the Woodland Beast side quest? I kind of want to do it over again but 200 crowns is hard to pass up. Of course I could just buy the fake pass from the guy a few feet away for 100 crowns and use the money glitch to break the game anyway. Hmmm.... decisions, decisions.

I feel like there are a lot of times where sidequests are connected to mainquests and I feel the urge to do all of the sidequests. But now I'm going to only do the sidequests that I know are worth it (romance option, weapons, character development) and leave some quests alone so I can have stuff to do after the game. I spent multiple days in Velen. . I finally decided to stop and just finish the Family Matter questline.

I'm looking forward to turning off my map and hud and just enjoying the game countryside and seeing how far it will get me.

Velen / Bloody Baron / Family Matters quest spoiler question:
I let the evil spirit out in the woods and both Anna is dead and the Baron hanged himself
What is the alternate outcome of this?
