You know, I've just had a sudden realization: what if Sony announces the next GoW game and it instead takes place in a different mythology, say Egyptian for example.

I still want a God of War game starring one of Kratos's bastard kids he no doubt has. Make it his daughter and call it Goddess of war, It would be a nice change of pace I would think.

GoW done in any other mythology would be a major, major downgrade in every aspect and might cause it to bomb hard.

I can't think of a good suggestion for the next one right now but I know that much is true.

Are we sure, that HoloLens is gonna be an add-on for Xbox One?
The last time I heard, they didn't see it as being a consumer product for your Xbox One games.

I think that it would be insane if the next God of War would still be in greek mythology. I mean that setting is done, it's over. There is nothing more to do.
So I guess we won't see it and we won't see Kratos

Wut... why do you think that?

Greek mythology trumps every other in terms of stories and characters most people are familiar with, and gave Kratos a great variety of enemies to fight against. Any other would be an assured step down in terms of the degree of epicness. Either you have The Mummy in the desert or Viking battles in the snow. Pretty boring if you ask me.

I wonder when the crate images will start popping up. Probably starting as early as June 12 (Friday). I wonder... will the bear return?

There is like this country with over a hundred gods very varied . Deep lore . Cultural influence over a large part of human history . Has over a billion people ..... Starts with an I I think.

Part of the reason why i dont hold alot of interest in GOW is cause of its overdone setting. Its because everyone knows about the greek gods that it partly becomes expected and dry.

I was thinking a japanese GOW would be cool,
with the major and minor gods with various Yokai and soldiers as enemies. Locales would include castles, forests, villages, plain fields, underworld etc. A Boss fight with Yamata no Orochi would be pretty epic.

Such monumental ignorance.

I want Rare's new game to be a Kingdom Hearts style game set in the Rare-verse. Imagine Banjo Kazooie's hub world connecting to levels featuring Battletoads, Conker, Perfect Dark, Viva Pinata, Wizards and Warriors, Killer Instinct, etc.

I would buy it in a heartbeat!

GoW 4 should end with Kratos ripping a hole in the Universe and seeeing all of the different Kratos in each timeline. GoW 5 has Kratos gathering an army of Kratos for an assault on something. Different Mythologys, large variety. He fuses with all the Kratos and finally manages to achieve Super Sayian God Super Sayian. He's finally ready to fight Goku and destroy Earth. His greatest challenge.

Do want!

I'd also be very happy with a mascot racer with characters from Rare's franchises.

I really miss Dead Space (The scary ones not the third one). But there isn't any chance for a Visceral made Dead Space this E3 right? They are working on a Star Wars game. Sigh :(

Don't think we'll see a new Dead Space in a long time sadly. But if the likes of SOMA do well, and the inevitable release of Resident Evil 7 is critically praised/commercially successful for hopefully returning to its roots, then that might reinvigorate interest in making a new one since it'll prove there's a big market for it.

Sony show opens....

House goes dark....

"All footage captured in real time" while instrumental electronic post/math rock fires up.

"Every Atom, Leaf, Tree, Bird, Fish, Rock, Ocean, Cloud, Ruin, Star, Galaxy Procedurally generated. Every Planet Unique, Unexplored."

Gigantic space battles, terrain deformation, combat, exploration Awesome looking planets, people STILL asking "BUT WHAT DO YOU DO?!"

"No Man's Sky is available RIGHT NOW on the Playstation Network!"

legacyzero has heart attack

I'm about tired of NMS, personally. I mean, I'm there day one, but stop showing samey looking videos and release it already!

I loved Diddy Kong Racing. Don't think you could capture the same magic today, but a Rare kart-racer isn't a bad idea. Actually, a Rare anything-game isn't a bad idea. Rare has such a big backlog of IP from many different genres, yet they all fit a certain style. I guess that's what Phil meant when he called their next game "uniquely Rare".

Diddy Kong Racing >>> Mario Kart 64

But Crash Team Racing was the best one in that generation

It's one of the big questions if rare still has it.
They have not been funny or cool since viva pinata. so I hope they still know what makes games great.

I like the idea, but that sounds like it would be better suited for Japan Studios and not a western dev. Though, at that point the characters and setting would be so different then why does it need to be called GoW anymore?

I know. But the reality is it wouldn't be marketable to the west at all. Also they would probably be sued I'm sure.

Sued for using Indian gods in their game? I don't think anyone owns the trademark...

I think the biggest problem with using that pantheon is, as you said, that most western gamers (the target audience for a GOW game) could maybe name two Indian gods. Meanwhile, who hasn't heard of Zues, Hades, Athena, Apollo, Aphrodite, Ares, Poseidon...you get the point.

Hmm while suing doesn't make sense there could be an uproar hadn't thought of that Hinduism is still vastly practiced whereas ppl who believed in Greek Viking Egyptian gods now mostly follow other religions . Hadn't thought of that .

Maybe just reboot the series ? What about old Central American religions ? Mayans etc

I remember IOI had to modify Hitman 2 because there was uproar about the inclusion of a Sikh temple and people wearing turbans in the game.

They would be definitely get sued or petitioned to be banned. People are sensitive about religion, and more than ever these days. It's cool if you stick to the old mythological ones though.

Greek mythology really was one of the greatest ideas for the setting of a character action game. Maybe they should drop it and go for a time based thing like AC? (ugh) Wouldn't seem very god like though. They should ditch the whole god thing TBH. It's a bit limiting.

Too bad there will never be an abrahamic God of War game that pits you against angels/demons/ghost other supernatural creatures. Basically a game that borrows heavily from the first five seasons of the Supernatural tv show, just with a much more violent protagonist. You start off as a regular human and the story throws you into this insane story where you unwittingly go against all these crazy beings in an all out holy war, and you can choose either to save souls or take them and then as the story progresses you can aspire to defeat lucifer or yahweh themselves and become the new God. Preferably set in a time before the 2000s so that year can be a huge plot point where it is believed the world will come to an end.

Of course this would be a game that would cause major protests and hate and not sale well, unfortunately.

I think that is something some people don't really consider when giving out ideas for God of War. The suggestions of what I think would be considered "living" religions is most likely a big no-no, which of course might just be me being biased . I think of the "dead" religions a new setting could be Norse or Egyptian though without causing controversy and being recognizable enough to use.

This is how Sony E3 2015 will be

House presents, talks about the history of Playstation and how he is proud of its legacy. Then goes on to announce PS1 and PS2 Classics for PS4. PS2 Classics will be upressed similar to PC emulator.

He then goes on to talk about the great old Sony IPs. He then announces Parappa The Rapper PSN game. Then the audience a random sound "bumbaga" the screen goes dark that's right it's Crash Bandicoot 4. Exclusive to PS4.

Next up the president of Square comes on stage. Shows new trailers for FFXV and Kingdom Hearts III. He then shows a trailer of thay shitty FFVII PC port, however he does a reverse troll, mid Trailer the graphics transform into beautiful next gen graphics. That's right Final Fantasy VII Remake is announced.

Next up Ono from Capcom takes the stage. New trailer of Dragon's Dogma is shown. Then SFV trailer is also shown. Ono for some reason is cosplaying as Spiderman. He then goes onto announce Marvel Vs Capcom 4.

Next up the PS4 architect comes on stage. He talks about the days he used to work for Sega. He then announces Sony has bought Sega. He then announces 2 new games. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 and Shenmue 3.

Finally Jack Tretton makes a surprise appearance. He walks on stage and only says a few words. "I have unfinished business", he drops the mic and leaves the stage, the room goes dark and some pleasant music plays, then we see "The Last Guardian" with the conference ending.

And somehow those two games show more focus than MLB, Bloodborne, Helldivers, The Order, and LBP3 in the same amount of time? This narrative is getting boring. If you feel as if Sony has failed on the first party front, then talk about that. But you can't believe it and then turn around and say Microsoft is knocking it out of the park if they've quantifable and qualitatively done worse.

Hey now, I'm just responding to you when you say MS haven't released a solid 1st party title since Forza...since you are factually incorrect. No reason to flip it around and say something I'm not saying.

You forgot about Agent and Silent Hills. Those are definitely going to appear too, otherwise why even bother with a conference at all.

Terrific fan-fiction, would read again.
