I'm thinking more of a Link approach in Legend of Zelda for Kratos.

A redesigned Kratos that keeps the iconic aspects of him (the white skin and red tattoos), but otherwise is practically a completely different character in a different mythology.

1. Uncharted 4 set piece to open the conference. New release date announced
2. Uncharted Collection announced with Uncharted 4 beta, November release date.

Outside chances
1. The Last Guardian, one of these years.
2. PS legacy hardware, a box to play disc based PS1, PS2, PS3 and Vita games. Connects to TV via HDMI and can be streaming to Vita.
3. Crash Bandicoot, enough time has passed to create a game

Perhaps the God of Time, Chronos ( not Cronos ), uses his ability go back and save Hermes, the god of Travel. He brings Hermes back to life, saves him from being killed by Kratos in the future and then they together create a time warp / dimensional gate that throws Kratos into a different timeline altogether.

Kratos, in this new timeline, encounters a different set of Deity's. The Egyptians or Norse or whatever they go with.

Hey, im trying here! lol Just can't come up with a good theory on how they would change mythology's all of a sudden.

They could just make a game with a different mythology without trying to concoct a painfully contorted backstory as to why they are doing it. I think people will get the point if they just changed it. Starting off with Superhero comic level ret-con nonsense is not a strong foot to start a story on.

I hope for a new mythology.

Norse

With the help of Isis using her father's magic revives the Pharaoh to search Egypt for the 14 pieces of his body to revive Osiris and get into the Underworld.

So, no story instead of a bad story?

Gotcha.

Wow it's crazy because I was just thinking about a new GOW with a new mythology. I wouldn't mind a new hero either but I don't see the new hero thing happening.

So, no story instead of a bad story?

Gotcha.
No, I don't think you have quite gotten me. Just a new story. With a new protagonist. No time travelin' nonsense trying to justify why a thin character with no more motivation is going to continue smoldering with generic rage in a new setting.

All that sounds reasonable and a solid conference if you ask me.

So, no story instead of a bad story?

Gotcha.

No. Basically just close Kratos's story.

Start afresh with 'Krathor, Jomsviking who got killed in battle, and was revived by a Valkyrie as an Einhenjar, with a new plot that pits him against the gods" or whatever other mythology equivalent is.

No, I don't think you have quite gotten me. Just a new story. With a new protagonist. No time travelin' nonsense trying to justify why a thin character with no more motivation is going to continue smoldering with generic rage in a new setting.

That's what SSM should do. Egyptian Kratos, Egyptian Gods and so on.

My predictions:

Each of the big three puts on solid (but not spectacular) shows.

There will be lots of games.

Lots of lame jokes told onstage followed by awkward silence.

Things as subjective as company performance and quality of titles shown are then given a definitive "win" by members of the press. Message board heroes will use these "win" declarations as ammo to fuel their fire-and-blood belching machines of destruction in the ongoing System Warz being waged across the Internet. Widows will be made. Virgins will be deflowered. Statues will cry. The heavens will part and the finger of God Himself will point at the latest hot game trailer, and a voice will ring down from the heavens saying, "That's a bullshot. There's no way the actual game will look like that. You fanboys can keep dreaming because that ain't happening."

Sony has been teasing alot. Goes back to the For The Players ad.

I don't know if I'd call it teasing so much as them just paying homage to their roots. Desperation from gamers is what drives the conspiracy more than anything Sony has said or done.

Any indies people are hoping to see at one of the pressers? I'd love to see Lethal League and A Hat in Time make it to one of the "Indie showreels"

Ah yes, gotcha.

Kratos is sort of an icon though at this point. He is a pretty well liked character simply for being a " badass ". I don't think they are quite ready to close the curtain on Kratos. There are tons of " generic " characters out there. Master Chief / Mario / Sonic / Snake. Kratos being generic isn't exactly original or something that causes a team to suddenly switch to a new character. Weird how that only seems to occur with Kratos.

They did the same thing with Street Fighter/Ryu (Hadouken Cabs) and now SF5 is a Ps4 console exclusive :P It could just be Crash in a PS Allstars sequel, who knows. Something is in the making for sure.

Any indies people are hoping to see at one of the pressers? I'd love to see Lethal League and A Hat in Time make it to one of the "Indie showreels"

I would like to see Yatagarasu again. A console version has been announced like a year ago and we haven't heard anything about it since then.
And idk if it counts as "Indie", but Garou Ps4. No doubt SNK is porting that one next.

I hate this narrative. MS is focused? How so? They haven't released a solid first party title since freaking Forza. Focused on obfuscating their extreme lack of games you mean?
Right, so they can only be focused if the title is pure 1st party. Doesn't matter if they release solid IP that they own like State of Decay and Ori. Who wants those games

MS: I think Windows 10 will be one of the bigger things they will talk about that will differentiate them from Sony/Nintendo. I think they will show off some cool reasons to use Windows 10 via the free update but also the reason why having the Xbox One is also worth it.
Yep, expecting them to announce KI and Forza 5 for Win10 launch titles, also more partnerships to bring new games to X1/PC at same time like they did with Gigantic

Since it will probably be announced at Bethesda's conference when do people expect Dishonored 2 will be released?

I'm guessing mid to late 2016.

These days if you're not homegrown and developed, you don't count to some* people as first-party. Just the way it's.

---------------------

The prospect of a GOW game with Egyptian mythology is indeed interesting but I am not sure the scale of Titans provided with GOW 3 will be there (the game will probably turn out to be a more focused experience on the character). Not that there's a game out there that defines scale as much as GOW 3 but still.... expectations are wild.

Still see the game as Holiday 2016 with a potential delay for Spring 2017. If they tease the game at E3, then we'll surely get a glimpse of gameplay at PSX. Then again Cory said they were very early in development and Horizon might need some extra time for polish - pushing the game towards Holiday 16. I don't think Sony wants 2 AAA games releasing 2 months apart in third-party hunting season.

Phil Spencer has refers to first party as games he publishes including partner games they don't own (Sunset Overdrive, Alan Wake, Ryse) so when he says "1st party" - and I've seen this mentioned in a few threads, he is referring to anything they have published directly with the developer, as the best definition I've got.
When MS say they have big 1st party presence at E3, I don't think he is specifically referring to internal studios (although they will be showing stuff) and people should probably set their expectations accordingly for that.

2nd party is stuff like Dead Rising 3 (and possibly Tomb Raider) which he published from a third party. Not sure where Titanfall stands in all this, EA published it so I guess its just a briefcase of money exclusive.

My personal definition is who owns it. Microsoft own Ori and State of Decay, its on the platforms they allow because they own it and won't be on competitors platforms, so its 1st party even though Moon and Undead Labs aren't owned by MS.

2nd party, Insomniac/SO, Crytek/Ryse, MS published it but don't own the game or studio.

3rd party, where they paid a publisher for exclusivity whether its full or timed, whatever.

More and more it seems like Sony's E3 this year will be about third parties-which is fine. It just isn't the most exciting thing to me.

This year will have more notable first party content than last year though. You should actually go back to Sony's E3 2014 and see that they were holding back.

I won't lie, I'm quite excited at the prospect of not seeing COD and (this year) AC at the MS conference.
Sony's conference is longer so I don't think it will impact it much. Cut out the Sony Pictures/Powers (iirc?) stuff last year and replace it with COD and AC and you get pretty much the rest of the show the same.

That doesn't really make any sense...Why would their conference just be about 3rd parties (assuming you're talking about multiplats with marketing deals) when they have plenty of already announced games to show off? Off the top of my head

-Uncharted 4
-Gravity Rush 2
-The Tomorrow Children
-Rime
-WiLD
-Persona 5
-Tearaway Unfolded
-Star Ocean 5 (teased to be at E3)
-Dragon Quest Heroes
-Ratchet & Clank
-Level-5's new PS4 game (confirmed)

Anything that's exclusive is exclusive. The distinctions are trivial at times. Consider SO:

Sunset Overdrive is exclusive currently to the Xbox One - does it matter if it's first party or not? Not really.

For all we know, even if Insomniac has IP ownership, the prospect of another game in the franchise is uncertain. Did the game end up being a high seller? NO. Brings us to the point:

Who's going to fund SO2? Sony? hand over the IP. MS? Keep the IP but stay exclusive. Third party publisher? Sell me on it for the amount of money required....

I look at IP ownership for a dev like Insonmiac as something valuable in a portfolio that could help in an acquisition or selloff rather than something else.

It's all on a case by case basis. During the PS3 era, if you wanted MGS, you needed a PS3. Didn't matter that it was a third party exclusive - it was exclusive period. Did the Xbox 360 end up getting a MGS game? NO. Something similar could very well happen to Sunset Overdrive.

The other side to that coin is Titanfall.

You've made the grave mistake of considering anything other than UC4 a game. The rest of the things you listed are glorified, interactive screensavers or things that aren't interesting enough to count.

Am I doing this right?

Great list by the way. I'm really excited for R&C. Please be awesome. The Level 5 game better be Rogue Galaxy or Dark Cloud 3.

Well you went overboard usually it goes like this.

Tearaway oh that's a port and small game nobody cares so it does not count.
Until Dawn oh that's unproven so it does not count.
R&C nobody cares for it does not count
Persona 5/DQ:Heroes Japanese games do not count.
God Of War 3 its a remaster does not count
Rime/No Man's Sky/Rapture/Alienation indie games do not count.

I see. I'll be more nuanced next time. Thank you senpai.

Yeah people expecting 3rd party dominated E3 for Sony may be in for a surprise.

They could do a showcase just on the currently announced projects and fill the show. Just show off every current Exclusive known for the system and you are good to go.

But nah, you will see brand new projects being teased. I'm thinking maybe we get more then a tease from the Guerilla Games project if it indeed is ready to be shown. Man, can't wait to see what they can do with that one. GG are tech wizards. What they did in Killzone was flat amazing.

Really my most anticipated for the show is No Mans Sky again. Anything new from that project instantly jumps to the #1 spot on my list. I hope we get a lengthy gameplay demo along with a 4-5 minute new trailer.

I hope for a new mythology.

Norse
As a recently dead hero arriving in Valhalla but nothing is what you expected. Odin has been overthrown by the forces of Helheim lead by Hel the daughter of Loki. It is up to the hero to take down the Gods that sided with her and restore Odin to the throne.

With the help of Isis using her father's magic revives the Pharaoh to search Egypt for the 14 pieces of his body to revive Osiris and get into the Underworld.

If I recall, David Jaffe said he wanted GOW II (which Barlog directed) to end with a portal opening up revealing other gods. Then in three, after he kills them all (Egyptian, Norse, etc.), it ends on a cutscene of the three wise men riding towards Bethlehem to visit a baby Jesus.

I don't mind the idea of switching mythology, however I think they should completely ditch Kratos and the greek mythology then. The idea that Greek Gods and Egyptian, Norse etc. exist alongside never really worked for me.
Like, how can multiple gods be responsible for the afterlife? Or responsible for the rising, setting sun?

as much as i want a new protagonist...people would rampage over a new character. They wouldn't give him a chance, be extremely critical & always compare him to kratos.

If No Man's Sky doesn't have a release date for this fall, I don't want to see it. The game has been shown off too much.

Fallout 4 at MS conference please.

People will rage either way. If you keep Kratos, why won't they change the formula. If you make a new protagonist, why won't they take any risks?

I say go for Egyptian or Hindu with the mythology, make the protagonist a female, and watch the money come rolling in.

Only 2 weeks left? Welp, gonna have to adjust my sleeping schedule soon. Bethesda's starts at 5AM where I live. :|

Based on previous years, was there anyway to watch the conferences late? Specifically the Sony Conference. It starts at 7pm in my time zone but I'll be taking care of daddy duties til 8pm. I don't really want to join the conference half way through and would like to start it from the beginning.

Are there any options or is my only option to wait for it to end and then find an archive after the fact?

I know either gamespot or gametrailers streams (or maybe both) allow you to tune into when it's live and skip back to the start of the conference, even if it's like an hour in. I've done that before.
Is Microsoft gonna waste my time with Kinect crap even after unbundling it? Probably.
Last E3 the Kinect free version wasn't even available and they spent next-to no time on Kinect. Just when Harmonix came on stage and talked about Fantasia and Dance Central for 2 minutes, that was it. It wasn't mentioned at all after that point.

We're gonna slaughter baby Jesus?

So edgy - sign me up!
