Good for her, she looks great too!

Basically this.

I said something really insensitive in the company of a trans friend recently and she got really upset, but it was borne out of a lack of tact rather than a lack of compassion.

Honestly, I don't think it's anything to get too worked up about as long as the person in question is respectful to the the one who changed their sex .

For me, personally, I see a man. I would refer to that person as a man in my own mind, BUT with that being said, If I were hanging out with Kaitlin I would refer to her is a she out of respect of what she wants out of life..

I don't think there's any ill will here (As long as there's respect). It's more a glass half empty, half full.

I think that the issue isn't really tact, it's the view underneath the tact. If you see a trans woman as less or other than a woman, you don't really have any grounds to claim that you respect trans people or a degree of respect.

If a racist has the tact not to make racist comments to a black person, but is still racist, it makes no difference (to me).

It's upsetting for me as a trans person, but all I can do is live my life. I can't spend my life trying to change people's minds. I don't wish you any "ill will", but it's very difficult for me to be around or talk to people who hold that view, even if they are polite and tactful.

I'm sorry, I respect trans people but I'm entitled to express my opinion.

Wish him the best of course in his new self.

It's like we're going in circles in this thread. "I respect transfolk but fuck their feelings, I'll call them what I want because reasons..."

Yep! And like not even what 5 minutes later someone else comes into to continue the cycle

Glad she's finally able to do this! Kudos.

As far as the surgery is concerned, I'm not a fan. Not because i don't think a man should not become a woman or vice versa but because there are so many issues associated with it, that I ultimately worry about the mental well being of the patients. I just hope the patients are prepared to deal with the side effects both mentally and physically.

Btw this goes for most surgeries, but especially this one.

Edited to make clearer what i mean

I'm not a fan of the New York Rangers but I don't go around telling people who buy seasons tickets that they shouldn't because I'm concerned about their mental health.

Why am I being ridiculous? Because what you said doesn't warrant anything but a joke.

I'm really sorry for having offended anyone. That was not my intention, neither was it to troll.

I find her really, really ugly and I think I can express that opinion. This is allowed as far as I'm aware. I was in no way shape or form commenting on the fact of changing sex, I was commenting on how she looks now.

Go away now pls. You reap what you sow.

Why are you coming into a thread just to say that you find someone extremely ugly. Sure, you're entitled to your opinion, I mean it is an opinion, but did you ever hear the saying if you don't have something nice to say then don't say anything at all. I'm pretty sure you wouldn't go up to someone in real life and say, " Hey, I just want to let you know I find you incredibly ugly, but congratulations on ect..."

The fact that you didn't expect that your blatant insult would offend people who are celebrating the life choice of this woman, is well shocking. Hopefully you either learn some graciousness or just learn when not to say anything at all, even if it is your opinion and you are entitled to it.

For a Doc you really don't know your medicine =P

Genital surgery on trans people is BY FAR the surgery with less regret and problems in heavy surgeries like that. Also praticaly the only one where phantom limb syndrome is unheard

Not to defend their abhorrent behavior, but this is gaf, people come to threads of things they hate to shitpost all the time, they just tragically chose the wrong thread to be a hater in and is getting the well deserved backlash.

Asshole move? Yes!

Surprising that people are doing it? Not at all.

When did I say she shouldn't have done the surgery? I said I'm personally not a fan of the surgery because I don't think it's safe procedure yet.

And I'm not a fan of the Rangers because I just think their fans are all mentally ill and being a Rangers fan and don't think it's a safe fandom yet but hey I didn’t say they shouldn't be fans so I'm totally being respectful.

one his PR gets a hold of him, it'll be deleted.
I imagine his PR will have quite a few words to say to him. As if his career post-D&J wasn't fucked enough, he goes and does this. Never liked him in the first place, but now I have even more reason to dislike him. What an utterly rude, ignorant twat.

hah! nice one. You're right about the phantom limb, but the vagina post op is considered a wound by the body and needs to be constantly treated to stop infection. There all sorts of things the patient needs to worry about after post op. I think eventually we'll get there, but right now I'm not sure.

I could be wrong tho, i haven't read any long term studies about it.

And his tweet is deleted.

That's bravery!

I had no idea who this person was until I looked at this thread, from the cover I just thought it was an older woman coming back and appearing on the cover.. but apparently not.

Some very curious posts in this thread..

No a better analogy to what i said would be.

"I'm glad they are Ranger fans, I just hope they realize that tattooing the logo with with tools that are not perfected yet could be dangerous."

This is silly, I think we can have a conversation about the actual possible side effects of a huge surgical procedure without it becoming about something else.

PS I thought this thread was about a Kardasian younger sister. My first thought was "WTF another kardashian looking to be famous??!"

She looks brilliant. Totally like a goddamn model, or something. Good on her, and good on Vanity Fair for putting her on the cover, too~

...never heard of the "constantly treated to stop infection" and the only thing that the patient needs to worry is dilatation, that after a while nothing that a regular sex life (or regular masturbation xD) don't cover =P

But then again I haven't done it myself yet, but nobody that I asked said anything about it.... might ask to the transgaf people who did it

You openly admit to knowing nothing about it but still feel qualified to say that it shouldn't be done because mental health and physical maintenance.

Dialation is 30 minutes a week of my life. That's it.

And no your analogy would be I'm not a fan of Ranger Fans getting tattoos because I'm concerned that they might be too mentally ill. The surgery procedure is fine. Look it up.

Also congratulations on being yet another one to make this about the genitals of trans people.

Why is Jenner getting so much attention exactly? There have been other transvestites... thousands of them. This isn't a new thing.

I mean, good for her and all that. But I'm seeing it everywhere and wondering why.

I think you misinterpreted this, of course you have to treat the wounds against infections until they are healed but you must have mistaken it with dilating the vagina that has to be done for multiple times a day for the first few months wich should be done in the most sanitarian way anyway to prevent it from closing again.

Later it's just gonna be once a month or so of playing with a vibrator wich must be a fate worse than dead, heh.

EDIT: Beaten as usual...
