Halo: The Master Chief Collection is STILL broken after 100 days

but its a beta. so there's probably much more to be had just with the mp.

alright, man. but obviously don't get the full picture of mp alone of halo 5 till the game actually comes out.

When you don't like the fundamentals, it's hard to say extra features will change things. I just don't think it feels as good and I think the same about Halo 4. 343 has a vision for the series that I don't seem to share.

shouldn't that mean all is good and it's working?
...No?

It was supposed to substantially improve the underlying infrastructure (which at a glance it seems to have done), but this game had A LOT of issues.

I guess it depends on what the question means. If it's asking whether everything is now sunshine and rainbows, not really, there's still quite a ways to go. If it's asking whether this is "the big patch" that 343i has been making a big deal out of, yes, it's that patch.

Just found a big team battle match in under a minute and played 6 full rounds of CTF on zanzibar. No problems aside from the fact that two people on my team left at the start.

This is a very encouraging sign.

I can understand that. but who knows. they still may blow you away with the entire product with halo 5. you never really know, you know.

the former is what I was asking. I haven't been keeping up with all the different updates 343 has been doing for this game. i thought everything was fine after the first 2 weeks.

Its a nice start and I think we should give them some credit
for beginning the process to give me free Halo Reach! Only Halo Wars left baby, then we have the whole set

As a Twisted Metal PS3 day oner I truly sympathize with everyone experiencing the multiplayer issues. It especially stings when a game is so close to becoming a smash but connectivity and other seemingly unmissable and fixable bugs ruin it.

Just a quick update on things (BTB):

GAME #1: No exaggeration, the quickest search time I've ever had in this game since launch. 17 seconds, BTB Halo 2 Classic on Waterworks. Full and even teams. All was going well...

...until the game ended randomly 7-1 for no apparent reason. Not sure if this is a common issue?

GAME #2: Took longer to find a game, about a minute, but it worked flawlessly with full teams and dedicated servers. H2 on Terminal.

GAME #3: About a minute and a half, full and even teams. Flawless match. H4 Longbow.

#Wemaybeback?

What is all the fuss about 690 MB noch a "big" patch.

They "just" changed some lines of code. This could also be a 5 MB patch and could overhaul the online system completely.

It is still a janky mess. I am not foreseeing any circumstances in which I purchase Halo 5.

It's disgustingly obvious this still isn't running on dedicated servers. We had some very laggy H1 games last night and host is god.

I have no idea how geography played into it, but I noticed the same specifically in a few Halo 1 games. Still acceptable, but host advantage is worse in some ways than everyone having to adjust to the same degrees of delay. Overall though, my experience post-patch has been totally up to par, if not flat-out good.

I actually got into a BTB match before my patience conceded defeat. Glory be!

Still wonky teams, though.

Worse than ever. Game won't even launch sometimes now! I click it on my home screen it expands.... thinks forever..... crashes back to dashboard and says "..... took too long to load.... error code blah blah blah".

I can only get a level to load in H2A 1 in 10 tries.... if that.

Edit: I've spent 30 minutes now trying to start gravemind in H2A. 30. fucking. minutes. to start a level.

This is more like a system fault.

Hard reset your xbox and it should work.

That's like a standard tech support answer. I don't have my system set to instant on so it hard resets every time I turn it off, and it was doing this the second I booted up the system and started playing Halo.

And I DID try hard resetting *just in case*, always do. It doesn't do shit. This game crashes in campaign more than ever now.

YMMV, works great for me...and has worked even better since the update....

When you're the only one experiencing something, the problem isn't the game patch. Maybe try deleting and reinstalling everything. I mean it's drastic measure time when it is obviously not a widespread issue.

Considering one of the problems you're facing is the inability to start the software, and your problems seem at odds with most post-patch experiences, it's worth looking into variables on your end.

I can get into matches by myself fairly quickly now, but I am getting an issue when trying to connect to friends. All of my other games work just fine (BF4, Diablo 3, Titanfall, etc.) but Halo MCC constantly fails on me with an error stating something like:

"Failed to connect" or something along those lines.

If anyone has any tips they would be appreciated!

PS - We both show Open NAT if that still matters.

So, after reading some post - seems like the patch made a huge difference with few still having some issues here and there? Is that the general consensus? I've been playing MCC more lately but just trying to wrap up the campaigns...haven't touch the MP since launch.

Best thing I can really think of is both of you hard resetting your consoles. That's usually the best fix.

The game is much more stable in general now, yes. Granted it's not perfect, but it now works and the issues are minimal.

Different people have different levels of issues. Inconsistent problems for an inconsistent game. For instance, the game was working FLAWLESSLY on my end up until the latest patch. Complete stability, fast search times, and a general fun experience. The latest patch completely ruined that and now matchmaking is slow and several of my friends had issues connecting to each other last night.

RIP in Peace hopes and dreams

"Flawlessly" is a tad bit of an overexaggeration there.

So I just got an X1 and this game yesterday. Question: is it supposed to kick you from the lobby after each match? After I finish a match, I press B, and then I'm back at the list of playlists. So I have to search for new players every single match?

This is by design AFAIK. Honestly don't remember how it was in the original games.

When they originally released it would throw you back in the queue but they claimed that wasn't the original experience and removed it. Every game I remember would put you back in the queue. Maybe Halo 1 didn't?
