Halo: The Master Chief Collection is STILL broken after 100 days

When they originally released it would throw you back in the queue but they claimed that wasn't the original experience and removed it. Every game I remember would put you back in the queue. Maybe Halo 1 didn't?

Halo 1 wasn't on Live.

But yes, I believe the games all plopped you back in matchmaking looking for the next game.

I think they turned off the feature early on when all the party system wasn't working and searches were taking 4+ minutes.

They reduced the number of play lists, changed the player count for some match types and made sure everyone was doing fresh searches to try and increase the speed of matchmaking.

Now that the systems seem to be working better, we just got 16 player Big Team Battle back, I hope the next patch restores rolling us back into the matchmaking queue with the same group. That was an essential part of all previous Halo online experiences. Even if I don't talk much on the mic, I do like to play against / with the same people for a few games.

I'm still hoping for further matchmaking improvements and framerate / graphical improvements for the campaigns.
Quitters are still ruining most of the online matches I play.

I don't remember Halo 2 matchmaking, but in 3 you would roll up with the last people you played with and they would only replace people who quit out. You did not dump back to the playlist screen. That is just another example of how MCC is still broken.

Is it worth buying the game for $37? Would be fun to replay the campaigns again and wouldn't mind playing some BTB because I kiss that.

I think it is. They are not perfect but they work well and the Halo 2 remastered is interesting to play through.

Go for it! Just don't expect many people to be online.

It's 4 campaigns, and the halo 2 campaign was remastered on the Xbox one, so for that it's definitely worth it. Add another $5 and you have the best campaign in the series with ODST

Its fine now. Just no one playing anymore.
Game still crashes, ranks still don't work properly, Halo CE was broken in the latest update, playlists are still awful, major framerate issues in H2A multiplayer and across various campaigns, customization and emblems still don't work, dedicated servers are nowhere to be found most of the time, lag spikes are an issue, etc.

Yeah, the game is playable now, but it's still in a state that wouldn't even be acceptable at launch. Spouting things like "it's fine now" doesn't help anything.

Yeah true. Will be good to play through the story again before halo 5.

I've wanted it all along, but might as well wait for a lower price at this point.

It'll never live up to the online potential after all this time and with halo 5 so close.

Honestly, where are you experiencing this stuff?

I just played all of ODST and a night of multiplayer and had none of these issues.

Is this worth buying for single player alone? It's pretty cheap to get now and I wouldn't mind picking it up!

Yeah I'd argue being Australian we were some of the worst affected by the various Multiplayer issues and even for me it's basically working 100% now. Just takes FOREVER to find games even in Team Slayer because flat out no one is playing anymore.

Are you sure? I find it hard to believe so few people are playing Halo of all the games, a franchise that is historically very popular. Perhaps the matchmaking still just needs work?

Yes, it's all I bought it for at launch and it's been well worth the money. Lots of fun to be had tackling the campaigns on Legendary and going through the playlists.

It's not a new entry in the main series though, which are the ones that really sell gangbusters, so it stands to reason there are going to be less people playing.

Less people sure, but presumably you only need a few thousand people playing to have fairly populated regular online sessions or games. Though that might not be the case for the less popular game modes.

Surprised to see this thread pop up.

If anything, it would be nice if they increased the draw distance of foilage in Halo 3.

Game suffers horribly from pop up. Same for Halo 4. =/

Perhaps thd game is doing what it should be doing, and trying to prioritise local matchmaking for the people down under? Just that the aussies have all abandoned it already?

I have got to say, that it does seem much better on the dedicated server front. Just that the 343 idea of matchmaking is still there... I get 1 or 2 games on local servers, then games out of region where it is difficult to get kills. It is so fucking frustrating!

They really need to patch in an option to let us choose where we play. Titanfall has it, halo 5 has been confirmed to have, the mcc NEEDS it! Quite honestly, unless there are still technical problems? Then I see no reason why they shouldn't...

But this is 343 we are talking about.

It is fine now...Great collection and multiplayer matches are very good

I wonder whether checkpoints are fixed or not ? We are playing coop Halo 4, to the chapter's end...If we quit early, will it continue from checkpoint ?

Is it ok now ?

lol, it's fine now

There's nothing to be "fixed." Halo never had coop saves. Single player always had a "save and quit" option, coop always just had "quit."

ODST sort of has coop checkpoint saving, in a rough sense of the word, although I'm not sure if they ported that functionality to the MCC version.

The amount of playlists needs to be condensed to accommodate the smaller player base.

Team Slayer.
Team Objective.
BTB.
Halo CE.
Halo 2.
Halo 4.

Halo 3 doesn't deserve its own playlist as the net code is hideous.

All should be ranked.

Sure ? Even host doesnt have checkpoint ? Do i remember wrong ?
As if there was a coop cp save on x360 version
