Doesnt look good imo. Was not a fan of the original which i torment my friend for making me purchase, was hoping this would be more appealing. Good for fans though, hope you guys enjoy it.

Holy aliasing Batman!

Wow. Wow.
I've rarely seen an image as simultaneously blurry and aliased as this one:

Well, nothing that can't be fixed with copious amounts of supersampling.

Yup. I appreciate the honesty though, even if I'm starting to expect a certain baseline level of AA (which this game clearly fails to meet).

So excited. I hope it feels more like Fallout 3 and not NV story and setting wise. Yeah, NV was the "better game" from a mechanics and story perspective, but FO3 was the superior game for me.

Lmao no. There is no engine that can do what Gamebryo can do. The same can be said for most engines. I'm not talking about how janky or pretty it is. I'm talking about what it accomplishes.

Anyways this is definitely going to be a graphics thread, because this is neoGAF

Come on man, don't say obviously uninformed stuff like that.

Cool trailer, though I think devs need a *not indicative of final product*. I fully expect this to look nowhere near this good on release in late 2016 and when I finally play it in the summer of 2017 after the patches have optimized it correctly.

I have never played a Fallout game, yet this trailer has me pumped.

I really suggest looking up Fallout 2 and see what you feel about it, if it feels a bit dated and old you can instead look over to Fallout: New Vegas which is counted as one of the best modern RPGs of all time. If you feel inclined to you can try Fallout 3 as well but I seriously recommend New Vegas over it.

So this is like the fourth or fifth major game where people have been outraged over graphics/performance or downgrades. (Off the top of my head, Watch Dogs, AC: Unity, Uncharted 4, now Fallout), maybe it's time to accept that this is the standard for next gen? You can only blame developers for so much when you should realize that the hardware for next gen systems is not as significant jump as was ps2 -> ps3 or xbox -> 360.

For pc gamers, consoles being the limiter has always been a hard fact. This shouldn't come as a huge surprise.

The game looks absolutely fine for an open world game considering the hardware the developers have been given.

Am I the only one not very impressed with the visuals? The trailer made me think it actually WAS cross-gen at some points. Yeah, it's open world and all, but even with that in mind AND considering it has to run on the lowest common denominator (XBO) it's just not impressive to me.

EDIT: No, I'm not. :-)

Looks ok. Was hoping for a bit more of a shift away from FO3/NV but really this looks like more of the same. It also looks about as graphically dated as those two games did for their time.

Oh well, I'm sure there will be plenty to do/see in the game and some of it will be fun.

Just saying, If it was coming in 2015 it would have said so in the trailer.

E3, man. Believe the hype! Do you know why it's coming out in 2015? Here's the reasons.

1) Placeholders mean everything.
2) Game engine is dated, per GAF. Graphics are expensive and hold games back. No need to worry because this game has bad graphics.
3) I read the source code for Best Buy.com. I saw a 15 in there.
4) Generic is 6 letters long. Bethesda is 8 characters long. Title is 5 characters long. My sources from the great Moon Pig is telling me the release date is 6/8/2015.

Besides not graphically impressive, the color palette is way better then NV! I hope animations to be better too!

I can agree with those who says that the trailer doesnt show nothing exactly new or different. But I guess the improvements will be in its gameplay, map size and wider interactions, what, for a game of Fallout's scope would be the main points. And by this trailer we have no idea abou that yet.

Fans upset over witcher 3 bullshit trailer for consoles.

Fans upset over fallout real trailer for consoles.

Pick one. Jesus christ.

They want The Order quality graphics in a dynamic open world environment at 60 fps on current gen consoles. Hilarious stuff.

Yup. I appreciate the honesty though, even if I'm starting to expect a certain baseline level of AA (which this game clearly fails to meet).
In that footage the AA level is exactly 0.

You can debate asset quality, lighting and so on, but the IQ is simply objectively ass.

Luckily, that part is the easiest to fix by throwing more performance at it.

Holy aliasing Batman!

Wow. Wow.
I've rarely seen an image as simultaneously blurry and aliased as this one:

Well, nothing that can't be fixed with copious amounts of supersampling.

I don't think I've ever seen a sawtooth pattern like that before.

I saw it and went "there's no way it's gonna look like that on consoles"

Hard to believe people think the graphics look bad.

Graphics disappointing but the world already looks more interesting than Fallout 3. I just hope the combat is way better than in Fallout 3 / New Vegas.

Bethesda games have *never* been about top tier graphics. This just isn't what they do. They offer a unique experience in the scope of the game. No one else -- NO ONE else -- Has yet to have done an open world game comparable to how well Bethesda does it.

I think it looks good -- A step up from the last Bethesda game, but still familiar -- Anyone who expected anything else is crazy. I know I'm repeating myself but some of the attitudes are making me crazy.

I think you misunderstood me since I actually don't think the game looks bad at all (I would also argue that Skyrim looked very impressive on it's release, in terms of environment if not necessarily characters) I just merely think that if they're not going to have top tier graphics, there is no excuse for the load time in between areas anymore.

If the Witcher 3 can pull off it's absolutely massive world seamlessly, there is no reason Bethesda can't manage it here with less visual fidelity.

Developer makes a bullshot trailer not representative of the final game, people complain.

Developer makes a in game trailer representative of the final game, and it actually looks good........people complain.

I'll admit, I was hoping for something much more grandiose and it's not because of the graphics. This just looks exactly like Fallout 3. I had imagined a true step up if this were for the latest gen of hardware. Since it is for the new gen, well, I hope the world they built is at least gigantic.

Amazon and CDON.com have the same date listed. MUST be placeholder dates though, right?

But it's a placeholder date that is in 2015. You'd think they would put the placeholder later than they expect the game will actually come out.

Fallout 4 in 2015 confirmed! And I'm halfway serious in that I do think that is a pointer towards a real hope that it will come out this year.

Looks good to me. Looks like Fallout 3 but with something other than an 8-bit color palette

That said, I'll probably wait for Obsidian to get a hold of this undoubtedly janky new environment and make something busted as fuck but remotely interesting. Vanilla Fallout 3 literally put me to sleep every time I tried to get into it

They didnt go the bullshit trailer route either. I applaud them for that.

Me too. They didn't bullshit at all about what kind of game they want to make in terms of scope or visual design, so acting all shocked is very weird to me in the first place, they didn't advertise anything falsely.

It seems like people just want to complain about something. They never played Fallout 3/New Vegas or Skyrim? They don't know what to expect in terms of Bethesda's priorities?

This game was being developed for PS3 and 360 way back during the time they were making Skyrim. Of course they are going to make the graphics a bit better then what they were then by going to a new gen, but they are more interested in creating the mechanics of the world and probably the performance(Fallout and Skyrim run on toasters) than how pretty it is and that's what i care about.

When i come into a thread and all i hear is whining about graphics, i'm convinced people don't know what they want and are hypocrites when they say they want gameplay over pretty screenshots.

I think I'm actually more concerned with the animation and the way people interact with the world, it's always been a weakness in these games.

With the graphical IQ not being bumped up to what some have expected, I am curious to see if this means they really put a lot into the systems and the believability and livliness of the world. That's what makes these games and I'm thinking this is something they really invested in. It's an investment we won't notice until E3 or until we see more gameplay, if it is in fact what they went for

And for the record, the game looks fantastic to me. It looks like FO3 evolved, I couldn't ask for anything more than that. Those who compare games to eachother on purely a graphical level are doing it wrong

It's been said before... just gimme that delicious fallout 4.... it's been 8 bloody years....
