All of the Halo games on the PC have been ports of console versions, not sure what your point is. Unless they just dump all of the Xbox Ones into the sea, I would bet real money you'll never see a Halo game come to the PC first.

Edit: Reading your previous posts though, I probably should have just not responded. Keep piling up sandbags for MS, I'm going back to the Fallout 4 thread.

Halo is a console title and some were ported from console and some from mobile. Your previous post made it sound as if they chose to make a twin-stick shooter for PC over an RTS title.

I wish Halo Wars ended up on PC but the timeframe between Halo Wars and Spartan Assault is pretty big one(this is literally not the same Microsoft.).

Oh god, how dear I not be instantly negative because it's Microsoft.

I don't know about other people, but the reason I'm being negative is history. You know what happens to those who don't learn from it.

I like how that post completely ignores Age of Empires II HD, Rise of Nations HD, Age of Mythology HD, Fable HD and Fable 3 HD to Steam... Also a bunch of XBLA games like Ori and stuff.

Is it much? Naww. But it's not nothing either. Heck, most companies wouldn't have given us Age of Empires II HD, much less worked on it so hard post-release and gone out of their way to release not one, but two expansions for the game.

Reach out? People are not optimistic given past MS "talks" about the PC. If they actually do something worthwhile, great.

But people are rightfully adjusting expectations accordingly given MS's long list of past behavior.

This isn't the same Microsoft, point blank.

They just had a huge restructuring, a brand new CEO and Xbox is head by a guy that is actually working to make gaming better for all of us.

Perfect.

I feel like we go through this "MS has changed!" thing every 4-5 years, then it becomes more and more obvious that nothing has changed except the faces at the front of the line.

He's there to advertise Windows 10. It seems like it will have some cool features, so it's not a bad thing at all.

Fantastic. Great.

People still have a right to be cautious and will do so until they deliver. It doesn't matter to me that Phil Spencer rolled in.

I expect DX12 talk and other minor titles. Anything else would be great but I don't particularly expect it to happen.

prediction: Phil gets at least 20 minutes of time on stage. Five of those will be dedicated to games, the rest will be every single feature of Windows 10 as mandated by his upper management. Throw in HoloLens somewhere in there as well.

Excellent point. It is true that MS is not bringing their current AAA titles to PC, but they have done some cool stuff on Steam in recent years with Arcade titles and some of their classics. Also, their support of all the features Steam offers devs (Cloud, Workshop, Trading Cards etc) is great.

Now I just need that AAA rts game that Decisive was hiring for in my life/ on my PC.

And has that new Microsoft done anything worthwhile regarding games aside from HD ports of very old games and a semi indie title? Nope, so I'll remain pessimistic and not get my hopes up for no reason.

By your logic Microsoft has done nothing to change in the past years and has shown no support for PC... you're wrong.

Never said to get your hopes up, just said not to turn it into something instantly negative.

I definitely do not think rereleases of old games are that spectacular in terms of support. Especially considering MS killed all those studios that made those games in the first place (whether in spirit or legitimately wasted them GTA style).

When I think of support, I think of like... releasing new games. Or... not letting DX11 fester for 5 years.

Forza feels the least likely since IIRC he gave it as an example of a game that he felt made more sense on consoles.

There's probably also more concern there since PC is bigger in Europe than the US and that's one of their main Euro focused franchises.

Before this interview I would have thought that Halo is the least likely as that's the only seires that has potential to move a lot of Xbox consoles, but I guess it makes sense not to bring Forza over if that's their aim to make the Xbox One look more appealing to consumers over in Europe. Still, with the wireless dongle coming and nothing announced beyond Fable Legends, I just don't know what else they could announce that would get people excited about Windows 10. Sunset doesn't strike me as the right game.

So we're supposed to be negative because someone is spouting bullshit?
No, folks are being negative because thats the precedent that Microsoft has set. Their history of talking BS inregards to "ohhh we LOVE PC, bla bla" speaks for itself.

Which makes sense.

Sorry if I'm unimpressed by HD re-releases of great old games after they disbanded the companies who created them.

Hopefully not any more ports, I mean, I need a reason to keep my Xbone.

Still, I imagine they will announce Decisive Games RTS. Its probably Age of Empires or Rise of Nations.

Microsoft really ought to make bets on the PC for genres that make sense (start the "all genres make sense on PC" comments). I think they should embrace the keyboard and mouse control scheme available on PC and create some killer strategy games and reboot Mechwarrior.

The way I read it, it sounds like they're going to talk a bit about DX12 and Windows 10, and how games will integrate into the OS with the new Xbox overlay. It would be nice to see a game or two. Not ports though, multiplats (XB1 and PC) - perhaps Halo Wars 2 with crossplay or other previously unannounced games.

Yeah, we're gonna need receipts before we can trust that.

Are you really this unreasonable in topics like this?

How? I haven't noticed.

Microsoft have been working on bringing over better ports of their PC strategy game titles to Steam, they've been releasing games either day 1 or within a few months of the console counterparts, its incredibly obvious they have been investing more into PC than they have done in previous years, I don't expect that to drop off, its only going to increase.

Their 2015 line-up is a bit weak so far but its the same so far on Xbox One and with E3 obviously less than 2 weeks away, I suspect there will be more added:

2013
Age of Empires II HD + The Conquerors
Age of Empires II HD: The Forgotten
Ms. Splosion Man
State of Decay

2014
Age of Mythology: Extended Edition
LocoCycle
Rise of Nations: Extended Edition
Max: The Curse of Brotherhood
Halo: Spartan Assault
Fable Anniversary

2015
Halo: Spartan Strike (Day 1)
Ori and the Blind Forest (Day 1)
Kalimba

MS surveyed people about Killer Instinct on PC so that could be a hint its coming, Fable Legends is coming to PC the same day as Xbox One

They are also investing in Gigantic which Motiga have said will make it a better game with more resources, Halo Online is so far only announcing for Russia but MS are still investing in these games, which is what my post was about.

As I said, E3 is less than two weeks away and they haven't announced much for Xbox One either in that time since Gamescom

I'm not hostile to their presence, but I'm not expecting anything particularly interesting as a PC gamer outside of DX12, but we pretty much already know all we need to know about that.

I'm interested in the Xbox app, may sound strange but I'm sort of excited to play Forza on my PC via my Xbox One.. lol, just because it may help fit the console into my 'workflow' involved when playing games. Of course I'd much, much rather have a PC version of the game, but Phil Spencer seems to have indirectly ruled that out.

I think "indifferent" is probably the best way to describe my feelings towards this, I haven't got much reason to be excited, but I don't have any reason to be negative either.

BRAVO!!

Whats the profit margin difference between the XBox One and a copy of Windows?

Probably not great on the WIndows side when you consider everyone being able to upgrade for free the first year. Plus there's the fact that you're almost certainly not actually gaining an extra Windows sale, because pretty much everyone was going to get it regardless of a few Xbox games being moved over. Then there's the lack of ongoing Xbox Live fees, third-party game royalties (let's face it, they'd likely go to Valve), optional accessories, etc.

I don't have the numbers, but it's not looking good.

Would they show HoloLens stuff there?

As HoloLens runs Windows 10 and is a standalone product maybe they could show some games or apps running on Windows 10 with HoloLens.

Sorry if I'm unimpressed by HD re-releases of great old games after they disbanded the companies who created them.

Ensemble is one company. Lionhead's still around and making games. BigHuge games died because of 38 Studios; Epic resurrected them for about five minutes before shuttering them.

Don't get me wrong: it's not huge. But it bugs me that people fail to acknowledge that MS made this move, that it was a move people were begging for for years, and, oh, right, that last I checked, Age of Empires II HD is still the single most played RTS on Steam.

I see all these people going "MICROSOFT SO DUMB WHY HAVEN'T THEY PUT HALO ON PC," but they're outright ignoring that Age of Mythology, Age of Empires, and Rise of Nations aren't just on Steam, they're fully integrated with Steamworks functionality, their multiplayer works, and so on and so forth. And, again, Age of Empires II is even getting expansions.

Like, really, is Halo the only thing that's supposed to make us happy at this stage?

I mean... you know me. I love Halo. I write about Halo for Kotaku. I want to play Halo on the PC so much that I sat there while I was editing gifs for my latest article and found my hands drifting to WSAD even though it was freaking video footage. I love Halo.

I just also feel like Age of Empires 2 is equally a huge deal is all, y'know?

Again, don't get me wrong: I'd love to see Microsoft going "hey. Here is a big, huge PC game. It takes advantage of PC stuff. There's no cross-platform play. This is a proper Age of Empires. Also we're announcing five more exclusive, major, non-F2P PC games." I want that hard. But... I mean... Age of Empires 2 means a whole lot to me, Microsoft has done a great job, and it feels like nobody cares.

Pretty much this. But hey if those were included it wouldn't fit the narrative

I wasn't talking about Lionhead, who, after a brief stint in Kinect slog now have the great honor of creating a F2P action game! Wow, I feel so loved.

Oh god... how dare Microsoft allow a studio to do something new instead of making the same game the fourth time in a row!

Oh wait, weren't we complaining about how Microsoft only allows their first party developers to only develop the same game over and over?
