Spondership from MS now indicates to me there will be more MS there than expected.
Maybe shift some game announcements from their presser to this using their cross-play cross-buy model and improvements to dx12. Maybe a few game announcements that will be cross-play and when to expect streaming from the xbox one to your pc. IDK im just guessing. hehe

Xbox everywhere!!!
and that's a really good thing!!!

PC gamers in general aren't going to be impressed by developers like Lionhead. If Microsoft want to impress with games, they would have to release new entries in Flight Simulator, Age of Empires, Close Combat and Mechwarrior. Either that, or come out with new titles that can energize the market - games like Freelancer or Rise of Nations.
Exactly. I wouldn't even insist on "games" in the plural, just one high budget PC game of this type would be enough to indicate to me that they are more serious this time.

"Hey PC gamers! Buy Xbox One so you can stream the following cool games on your PC display: [footage of Halo MCC, 5 and some Forza all running in 720p with no AA @30 fps]! Tnx, bye!"

The fact MS pays for exclusives goes against the idea of making gaming better for everyone mate. How is making Tomb Raider exclusive to XBOX for 2015 making gaming better for PS4 and PC gamers? Phil is making gaming better for everyone like <insert Sony person here> is. As in...they're not, because that's not their aim.

Praising your rivals on twitter means little.

TIL no company is out to make gaming a better place.

RIP gaming industry.

The fact that Microsoft is willing to work with their competitors to stop DDOS attacks towards all of them shows a level of wanting to improve the general atmosphere of gaming for all of us. What benefit is there for Microsoft to help Nintendo or Sony in this kind of way? Generally if their competitors continued to suffer from these issues and they didn't it would be a positive for them.

There wasn't a PC gaming conference last year either.

There was a Microsoft conference though. Where the head of Xbox stood up on stage and could have talked about his commitment to PC Gaming. But alas, he considers E3 to be the wrong stage for PC Gaming.

Hardly a surprise that Microsoft might only consider PC Gaming worthwhile when others do all the gruntwork for em.

2/3 of those came out in 2014, the post was made in 2013. I doubt the girl was a psychic.

Yea, that's fair enough for that poster. But we're in 2015 now, so maybe that list shouldn't be the go to answer if it's been incorrect for the last two or so years.

You taking the piss with these posts? You made a really dumb statement trying to make Phil out to be gaming jesus and that he's trying to make gaming better for everyone instead of making gaming better for the company/device he represents. I point this out and you pull this primary school nonsense?

I hope MS actually pays you to post on GAF mate.

Most of Microsoft's work for PC was still in it's infancy at last E3. Like I said before in this thread, this is a new Microsoft and a lot of their stuff had to be kickstarted.

There wasn't really anything to show at last years E3, DX12 was a year off and I'm sure most games with it.

I never said he was gaming jesus, I just said he seems like a guy that isn't closed to the idea of helping even competitors in times where the entire gaming industry needs it.

Holy crap, all I said was that Phil cared about making the game industry better and you guys act like I'm promoting a warlord for gaming.

Show me a single time where the guy has talked crap about Nintendo or Sony on stage or in social media?

Honestly accusing me of being paid by Microsoft? How mature.

Microsoft weren't using Shadowrun and Flight Simulator so they have licensed them out to studios who are interested in them, Harebrained Schemes also suggested they might have got a similar deal with one of their older games? Could be Crimson Skies.

Microsoft haven't long owned Rise of Nations but did do the port of RoN, perhaps Rise of Legends is next whilst they make a new game.

Folk have, and with good reason, given MS a lot of crap for just talking about PC and barely following through on those promises. With Windows 10 still a year out at that point what was there to talk about? I can't see MS wanting to dedicate time to PC when their infrastructure was still so far off; just more talk with no results.

It's just the usual song and dance they do everytime they have to launch a new operating system. If Spencer comes on stage to show off that Fable game and Xbox One streaming to PC, he will be booed off it.

Eh, I don't know. The way I see it, who gives a shit? Wow, he doesn't shit-talk Sony or Nintendo. Wow, he passes this incredibly low bar.

By those standards, most people in the industry are trying to make gaming a better place for all of us. It just seems like praise that is meaningless given a lack of otherwise actual accomplishments to prove the statement.

You missed posting that on the front page with the rest of the rhetoric.

Openly in talks with direct competitors about preventing DDOS attacks is a lack of actual accomplishment4?

He should be booed off of it regardless.

To be fair, since the release of the original Xbox, E3 hasn't been about Microsoft in association with PC gaming. It's been an Xbox conference/show...and the PC game part has been left up to video card mfg and RTS/MMO developers to promote.

Hopefully, Microsoft's vision truly has changed from what it's been the past 15 years. Sure, old school PC title announcements would be nice, but the PC gamer profile has changed now from what it was 15 years ago. A lot of PC gamers would kill for console type games on their PC (new XCom). I want some of Microsoft's big sellers on the Xbox platfrom coming to the PC platform. Why not give Halo 3 and 4 some GTAV love on the pc?

At the most i would hope for ports of things like MCC and GOW remaster. But really I am not even expecting that much

PC gaming is fine without their support though.

And yet with all of this supposedly new work on PC Gaming, Microsoft still doesn't see fit to include PC gaming at their own conference this year.

"Hey PC gamers! Buy Xbox One so you can stream the following cool games on your PC display: [footage of Halo MCC, 5 and some Forza all running in 720p with no AA @30 fps]! Tnx, bye!"

No AA? Not really up on how streaming works are ya?

They already said they are working on PC to Xbox One streaming too.

You missed posting that on the front page with the rest of the rhetoric.

Open talks... yes. An accomplishment would be... you know, actually accomplishing something.

If that's your bar for praising someone like that, feel free. But to me, that comes off as meaningless praise.

What will they say about Win10 though? "You know, since we've been sidetracked even by AMD out of all companies in the world we've decided to finally dedicate some effort to PC gaming on Windows and are bringing DX12 exclusively to Win10 now!"?

They are really at a point where nothing short of announcement of a simultaneous Halo 5 launch on XBO and PC will help them to get any PC gamer mind share back.

No AA? Not really up on how streaming works are ya?

They already said they are working on PC to Xbox One streaming too.

Be still my beating heart.

And yet with all of this supposedly new work on PC Gaming, Microsoft still doesn't see fit to include PC gaming at their own conference this year.

What kind of dumb logic is this?

There is a PC conference this year.... it makes sense to talk about PC stuff at the PC conference if they're Xbox conference is already packed with content.

Oh man he didn't talk crap about Sony or Nintendo, wow mate, just wow what a guy! Such amazingness! Wow just wow! The hero we bloody deserve! He even praises on Twitter! What a guy that Phil is! Making gaming better for everyone that guy is regardless if you're a Sony fan, Nintendo fan, Sega fan, casual FB gamer, or what. Phil The Shocker Spencer is making gaming better for you.

Boo this man for bringing 100% performance improvements to our hardware! boo!

100% performance improvements?! Hahaha Where do you get this crap. Again, one man is not the sum of an entire company, nor is he some single handed ombudsman ushering to make the entire games industry better. The companies drive is to make Windows better. That is why the major DirectX itterations are locked down to their new Windows edition they prepare to sell (even if free for a year for those eligible). They have not intention of improving experiences for other platforms or developers wanting to support other platforms or the industry at large

For our PC gaming fans already getting excited for the upcoming release of Windows 10 on July 29, we recently announced that we’ll be co-sponsoring the PC Gaming Show on June 16 from 5-8 p.m PDT. Head of Xbox Phil Spencer and key members of the team will be showing off some great gaming experiences for Windows 10 (and maybe even a surprise), so be sure to catch the livestream of the show on the official PC Gaming Show site or on Twitch.

Which other platforms? DX12 will be on Xbox One, offering some improvements you'd expect as SDKs improve. Im not sure what you're expecting here, do you think Microsoft will be trying to improve performance on PS4 or something?

I dont understand why microsoft can't just use a simple scheme like "port most of our xbox one line-up to PC 1/ 1.5/ 2 years after releasing it on Xbox One."

What kind of dumb logic is this?

You mean the company that owns the primary OS , and graphics API for the entire PC gaming industry can't be bothered to talk about PC on their turf?

And that is suppose to inspire confidence? And then there is the hypocrisy of trying to say the entire MS gamingn divison (including PC) is now XBOX, but they can't be bothered to talk about it side by side with Xbox.

You're not following PC DX12 improvements very much are you?

Open talks... yes. An accomplishment would be... you know, actually accomplishing something.

How do you know they didn't accomplish anything?

Last I checked DDOS attacks have toned down considerably

And that is suppose to inspire confidence?

I'm not sure where you're trying to go with your point here.

Up until now the main concensus is that the PC stuff would be shown at the Xbox conference but with this news it is likely some of the announcements might be moved to this conference.

Bottom-line it makes more sense to show PC announcements at a conference that more PC gamers are going to watch.

I don't. However, once again, I'm not the one attributing potential success to one person or a group of persons in this situation without evidence to back it up.

DX12, while providing a significant boost in performance, does not provide a 100% boost. And the DDOS part is a total non-sequitor. I don't even know why you even brought that up...

What will they say about Win10 though? "You know, since we've been sidetracked even by AMD out of all companies in the world we've decided to finally dedicate some effort to PC gaming on Windows and are bringing DX12 exclusively to Win10 now!"?.

They will say all the things they've been talking about all this year but with, assumedly, more details. Elaborating on the games coming to their store on PC, wireless XB1 controller support on PC, DX12 on PC.

If you had a limited time window to do a presentation (have to abide to TV scheduling since it is being broadcast on Spike) and had the opportunity to move off part of your presentation to another spot where you could dedicate more time to it you wouldn't do it?

DX12, while providing a significant boost in performance, does not provide a 100% boost. And the DDOS part is a total non-sequitor. I don't even know why you even brought that up...

We've seen developers claim over 100% performance increases on PC hardware.

I don't. However, once again, I'm not the one attributing potential success to one person or a group of persons in this situation without evidence to back it up.

I'm not attributing anything, I said that the guy seems like the kind of guy that cares about the gaming industry as a whole. I provided you with an instance where under his power he helped contact Sony and Nintendo to work against DDOS together.

Seeing as what I said is a personal opinion there isn't much more I need to prove.

old lady here putting my 2 cents in

PC is coming to E3 for the first time
and they have a 3 hour show

PC Gaming Show - Tuesday, June 16
http://www.ign.com/wikis/e3/E3_2015_Live_Streams_and_Press_Conferences

AMD and PC Gamer are putting on the first-ever PC conference at E3, PC Gaming Show. Sean 'Day[9]' Plott will host the show and will be joined by other speakers throughout the show, such as Blizzard Entertainment and Humble Bundle, to make announcements.

ok youngsters?
so I will be glad the Xboss will be there
and I want to know what strategy game is coming back
as he said he was going to bring up PC gaming now he has a better format than the Xbox one

so things change and that is good

You're not following PC DX12 improvements very much are you?

Those are not performance metrics for actual games, but rather tech demos. They remain potential since the demos shown specifically take advantage of the ability to create much more draw calls - which is not going to be the case for every single game created, since every single game is not going to be focusing solely on that. This has been explained time and again in many benchmarks
