So practical effects look like CG now? That's even more disappointing. :(

Why?

Isn't that the problem of the "expert" who complains when they can't even correctly identify the difference between the two, and not the film for blending the VFX tools at hand to be as seamless as possible?

This trailer made the dinos feel like xenomorphs, which would be cool if the movie actually ended up skewing closer to horror. That's not what I'm expecting though.

Great trailer, far better than the ones released so far. The last shot came off as unintentionally funny though. I'll probably go see it next week if I have time.

And as I saw on Jawmuncher's twitter, Jurassic Park is being shown on NBC right now.

Because why would I want everything to look overtly fake when (most of) the original Jurassic Park's effects still puts modern CGI fests to shame? Seeing that movie in the theater when I was a kid was awing -- and that same feeling comes rushing back when I watch it now. Jurassic World looks like everything else that's come out over the last decade. It's just jarring to look at...

The dinosaurs don't look like they're there with the people.

...because exactly this. It's fine to look at in stills, but the second it moves the illusion falls apart completely.

All that extra dramatic CGI stuff like jumping away from the dino bite and the pterodactyl grabbing someone just makes me realize how completely numb I've gotten to those kinds of effects.

I can't tell anymore what is what. I suspect you can't either unless it is a full scale dino on a run or flying or doing something that is impossible via practical means.

If it makes you feel any better, today's 8-year-olds will be saying the exact same thing about Jurassic World in 20 years.

Oh, I like this trailer.

They went for the creepy vibe with this one; it's mostly the same footage with some extras but the mood is so different with this trailer.

All the trailers for this movie have sucked for me so far. I'll probably end up seeing it anyways but I'm not expecting much.

But it doesn't. You just suck at spotting the seams now.

the movie doesn't suck because you were wrong about there being no practical effects. You just suck at spotting practical effects.

You're right. The movie sucks because it features Andy Dwyer as the raptor whisperer and a genetically engineered killing machine that was created because reasons.

I'm sorry everyone doesn't like the things you like. :'(

I haven't seen the movie. I don't know if I like it or not. It might suck. It sure hasn't engendered a ton of goodwill as of yet. But I do know not to pop off like I'm a VFX expert on the internet if I can't actually tell the difference between practical and CGI.

This crowd is the narcissistic type that'll never admit they're wrong and eat that crow when served, I'm guessing. Gotta maintain that internet cred with your extreme, clichéd views.

Film seems to recapture what made the original so endearing.

No way those kids could survive. They probably will though.
Kind of like the original.... weird.

I never claimed to be an expert. You just decided to be contentious after I stated my dislike of their visual effects.

I'm done derailing the thread. I hope you are too.
