Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

I have a hard time believe that any perk for shoes is better than ink resistance up, which (kind of) sucks because I want to try more styles.

I feel that the blaster range is deceptive due to their aoe. I've never really felt like I could outrange blasters with my .52 gal.

You're a charger and you play defensively. Something like Attack Up would probably benefit you a lot more most of the time.

Ranked is hard, because you cannot carry your team - the amount of times my team mates are double negative kill/death ratio is unbelievable. I'm not talking about someone having 1/2 or 2/5, I keep getting paired with people that die like 5-11 times in match in B+/A- ranking. As much as I try to carry them to a win it's impossibru

There is that, but I was playing super badly too. Seriously, I did multiple game where I didn't kill anyone and get killed more than 10 time. Now I'm back on the A club, let's see if I can do better

No, because ink resistance up makes it much easier for me to get away and not get instagibbed if someone shoots in front of me. I already have a few damage up subs and a damage up main -- any more nets near-negligible decrease in charge time for a OHKO, from what I've tested. I've gotten away from a bad situation many times just because of ink resistance.

I also already OHKO at ~70% charge with the Splatterscope. I've tried with another main and it only goes down to ~66% or so, which isn't worth the tradeoff with ink resistance.

I don't know if anything is better than ink resistance up, but stealth jump is quite good too. It's easy to get killed jumping to the point where many people are starting to wise up and not do it at all...stealth jump lets you go with confidence whenever you want. If you see an X you might even be able to surprise and kill the person that killed your jump target.

Stealth jump is definitely good, and fun, I agree. Can be great with Recon or Ninja Squid.

Bah, the game's not about killing, it's about spreading ink!

Plus it might even be the BEST weapon for killing, since it has echolocator. Not only does it increase your killing power, it also increases your friends' killing power!

That's it! I'm not doing Ranked until I have all clothes with 3 full slots, even if i'm 6,000,000 points away from my dream!

Man, do I want ink resist shoes. The amount of times Ive died due to out of ink and in enemy ink and moving at a snails pace to get back to my color.

Appreciate if someone knows the answer to these - just started playing....

Anyway to change control options like motion other than being physically in the plaza like in game mp? Also what is the power up prices at the end of the game where it seems to be randomly given. What are those and do they only last a round and how do you know what they are?

Man, I'm being spanked in ranked. I got kicked back to B+ really hard

That sounds like a good problem. I went on a 20-loss spree from B- to being on the edge of C+ about to drop into C. It was almost demoralizing.

My goal for Ranked is to hit A. Not even A+.

Also, I gotta give the game props for allowing us to buy gear other folks are wearing. That legit makes a world of difference.

Think you can only change controls outside of multiplayer, yeah.

What do you mean by power up prices? Do you mean points, which you gain for inking the ground?

See this is what I don't get - rarely do I have a negative kill/death ratio in ranked. People need to stop being Rambo in ranked, play safe until you need to push because the timer is running out. Look at the map so you don't get suprised and hopefully ping before using bubbler.

Just don't jump unless you are sure you have the area secured - if you have a roller on the team he should constantly have a spawn point active in a safe area. It's one of the best qualities of Kraken Roller in Ranked

Your ink refills slowly on its own, you don't have to submerge. You might have enough ink to give yourself a little standing room after 1 or 2 seconds.

I think he meant power up prizes/sub abilities.

To answer this, then, the abilities on your gear last forever, as long as you're wearing the gear. Go to the equipment screen and press the info button to see what the abilities do. I think the button is X?

Hopefully they add it soon. It's probably not there to make sure there is a sizable userbase at all times and since it's a new IP that's not guaranteed, but I don't think the trade-off is too worth it.

So let me get this straight about clothes/gear to finally know the absolute truth about how this stuff works. I'm level 18 so I don't have the benefits of being level 20 yet (for someone who plays 2-3 hours a day tops, I think I'm pretty decent at the game :3)

Correct me if I'm wrong about the following:

1) Clothes have set main abilities. If you want a certain main ability, seek out the one piece of clothing that is known to have that main ability.

2) Clothes have random sub abilities.

3) Certain brands are more likely to have certain sub abilities than others.

Yes to all.

Ink resistance is great for lurk plays as more and more people use the gamepad, they assume their back is clear if they don't see a path being inked. I've gotten plenty of free frags by simply walking past enemy ink.

Didn't think of this -- seems like a cool idea. Also seems very risky though, hah.

Reminds me of a scene from The Grand Budapest Hotel where
Jeff Goldblum's Character is trying to get away from Willem Dafoe's Character and Dafoe is too noisy with shows, so takes them off so Goldblum don't know where he is.

Considering brands have certain sub abilities that will most likely show up on their gear, does every brand have a piece of clothing for every main ability?

It's nearly 5 o'clock. I'm trying for the second time to go a whole day and a night without playing Splatoon. The last time I tried this I lasted 8 hours but I'm getting withdrawal symptoms.

I think I might book myself into rehab lol

Man, this week has too many things going on for me. I want to stop taking tests and play more Splatoon. Hopefully a map releases this week or something like that so I can come back to more stuff.

oh

That's correct - I was asking about the power ups at the end. I don't understand how they work. You buy clothes with built in power ups that carry on forever - then what is this random stuff at the end of the games? Are they additional power ups and they last forever too? Also - why Nintendo....why are you limiting the control changes so I can't change during MP (as I like to try them out in a game).....

I haven't had a problem with international players. This isn't like Starcraft 2 where I'd do 1v1 and feel a chill run down my spine when I see a korean name pop up.

Yes. They're called abilities, though. The ones you unlock when you gain points are not as powerful as the main abilities that come with clothes automatically. So, the ability in the bigger circle (the main ability) has more effect than the abilities in the smaller circles (the sub abilities).

Brands matter, so it's way easier (about 5x time per perk) to get a perk specific to the brand.
The chances of a triple are still low but plausible in the grand scheme (assuming 10/33 which myself and a google spreadsheet do that is about 2.7%).

Do 3x Swim Movements make up for the Ninja Squid swim nerf? Probably. Man, what a great setup.
Even one might be enough.

I wouldn't be surprised if this is legit. Plus you can order that gear in that exact config from Spyke, if you meet a person wearing any of those clothes.
I have tried to order 3 slot 1* star gear from Spyke 3 times. All three times it only came with one slot (thjat was either locked or unlocked). I've got another two to try but I think when it comes to added slots you can't receive orders like that.

Yeah, I've learned a few things by playing with Japanese players. Yet I've noticed that for every really skilled Japanese player that's eager to go another game with my not super great self, there are about as many who are just starting to learn things like the charger or how to get good with coverage or how to play the game.

I've never really run into the bad teams problem or the Japanese players too good problems that seem to get a lot of uh words on Miiverse. Bad team comp forces me to make more risky plays later and cover more ground earlier. Japanese players have been generally really excellent to play with.

The worst I've seen are times when players disconnect, especially when one player drops out. The one time all three players disconnected in the beginning of the match, I just camped my own spawn and slowwwly covered ground for points. It was pretty laid back.

Now it's possible that these dynamics totally change in ranked, but Turf Wars has been pretty chill. And I like this game a lot for that.

Anyone else find themselves watching Twitch streams of this game? I have never been big into Twitch at all, but maybe that's just because the games that people usually play on there bore me to tears. Been needing to get my Splatoon fix while I am at work though, and Twitch streams seem to be the best way for me to have my fill without distracting too much from my work.

Are there any streamers that people think are especially talented at this game and worth watching over others? I like supporting this game's following on the platform, as it's usually PC kid centric, and I like seeing some more diversity in what gets shown.

I've been fond of TieTuesday on Hitbox, and he was really fond of streaming the game during the test fires and launchtimes.

It might be awhile before he streams Splatoon again though, he tries to diversify between good games and bad ones worth riffing. Best thing is to check his Twitter for updates yo.
