Finished the opening scene and uh Noctis's voice sounds the same. It's still complete shit. And dammit I did not want to be reminded of that dialogue. It's sometimes like a bunch random words thrown in a blender. But let's how this plays.
 
Is it normal that it stays for more than one hour in "preparing to download" status? Or is there something wrong with my PS4?
 
Do you have to start the demo over or can you actually keep your old save file too? I guess you can upload your save and make a new game, then bring back your old save if you wanted more than one.
 
That mid combo backflip is too smooth. Lookin like Lightning

You couldn't do that in the previous version right? What triggers it?

holding certain direction on your left analog (in case of that backflip, is holding down) and attack

Press L1 as just before getting hit for no MP cost.

But you can still use the guard stance just as before, right?

My point is that for game balance the guard stance should be made less viable. I know the L1 button can't be held down forever but I don't feel like the mp cost is that much of a deterrent especially if it consumes the same amount throughout the full game. Also, the bolded doesn't address my point that a parry/counter attack should instead be accessible exclusively through timed dodges, so it serves as a reward for a higher risk, more skilled style of play.
 
So does the combat feel slightly less automatic? I liked the original combat, but wasn't a fan of how you could just hold down the button and have Noctis auto combo forever with one of his swords.
 
Are their more soldiers that get dropped off in this version? Everytime I get in a battle with them it seems pretty overwhelming.

yes. now depending you directional input the combo changes. Also you can dodge roll without worrying about MP.
 
Is Square still firm on their decision not to release this demo to the general public ever? Not even down the road lol. IS there still a viable way to pick up this demo and get FF Type-0 with it.

But doesn't that make it a lot easier? I mean, with the auto-dodge you had to take care of your MP bar, not abuse it and be more careful. Now that we have the roll without any kind of cost, I'm afraid the combat will be easier....

The parry looked smoother to me. I always had an issue with how it looked before because it just seemed rough. It looked as if the attack was already making contact with Noctis, but then all of a sudden his sword would appear and force the other attack back as if it never made contact in the first place and would just look weird. This gif of the old version shows off what I mean. If you slow it down, you can definitely see it. (I got to see it slowed down because my internet was being slow :p)

I don't know if it's because the timing of the streamer i'm watching is just better, but it looked a lot smoother than that gif.

It is a lot easier now.

There's supposedly less MP now.

The dodge roll appears to be more sluggish than, say, KH.

Need some extensive testing to see what kind of invincibility frames it gives.

Squeenix aint stupid though - vast majority of the 1.0->2.0 changes make the combat so much better that if it's a problem it's gonna be dealt with

And yeah, not surprising that combat will be easier overall after Japanese feedback rofl
 
Great. Played for a while to do some of the things I never did in 1.0, in my end-of-demo save, and then after choosing to return to my rest point, the game errored out and I lost all of that progress.

It isn't just you, the parry is definitely more smooth.
 
Is it me or does the game run a lot worse than before? It feels like 20fps and then still has slowdown with dips that feel like 10fps.

If you want to fight the dinosaur thing you have to
go on a tour with Prompto
. I wasn't expecting that and was killed immediately.
 
Liking the tours. I thought no amount of improvements from 1.0 could get me to like this game becuase of the problems I had with it, but 2.0 is pretty decent. Now if only they could get some proper writers/localizers...
