Final Fantasy XV Episode Duscae 2.0 |OT| This is a fantasy based on feedback.

Wow wow wow.

A substantial improvement for me!

The added dodge and animation improvements and additions make the combat flow soooo much better!

Feels more like a free flowing action rpg now! With magic in the system will be great!

Also the foliage seems slightly more dense/varied/colorful?

I'm really satisfied with the graphical quality. All focus should be on getting the game to 1080p, boosting FPS, adding texture filtering and improving AA, whilst maintaining the current level of visuals.

BELIEVE!

I didn't check, but has the MP cost of weapon abilities been reduced? Seems like I could cast more of these, which I certainly welcome. I still think they should give us a shortcut button to use these abilities with more ease. Scrolling left/right makes it less fluid.

Noctis sounds better and I like I think he should, overall great!

Maybe you gotta beat the demo first or perhaps you gotta be a certain level? Idk I'm throwing out ideas I haven't bothered yet since I'm replaying the demo.

I like it better now to be honest.

To fight it you have to
go on a tour with Prompto the chain of events will cause it to come out of the water

So how is the framerate holding up? i am playing on PS4.
I don't think I noticed any improvement in that regard it's still sub 30 more often then not and stutters when running in the field every so often. It is such a shame because the combat is much improved it would be a lot of fun if it was holding 30fps.

Yeah it has. Tempest is 20 MP now and it was 40 in 1.0 I do believe.

all the MP usage are reduced. even dodge now takes 5 MP as opposed to 10 MP from 1.0

Really enjoyed the On-Tour section of the Duscae. I like them essentially putting Dual Techs into FFXV. That, and this dumb moment after I did the quest with Gladio.

But doesn't that make it a lot easier? I mean, with the auto-dodge you had to take care of your MP bar, not abuse it and be more careful. Now that we have the roll without any kind of cost, I'm afraid the combat will be easier....

Final Fantasy has never really been a difficult series by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm not sure why you're surprised that they would lower the difficulty.

Shame. I hope final release does address this. This gameplay doesn't even have all of the particles for Magic. O_O

"My opinion is an opinion and I shouldn't have to state that"

Well a guy said "I liked it the old way" and you essentially said "nuh-uh, you're wrong."
Kinda hard to find a different way to take that.

Final Fantasy has never really been a difficult series by any stretch of the imagination, so I'm not sure why you're surprised that they would lower the difficulty.

In their summary of 1.0, Japaneses find the game too hard and American find the way too easy. They said they would probably add difficulty level. Which is a great idea if they can pull of a great balance.

r.i.p in peace all red soles

I know. It's ridiculous how the soles got downgraded. It's not true to Roen's designs unless Roen themselves changed the actual product in real life.

The last update said you can play with just two party members (Noctis and friend). I hope you can play solo and make the game more difficult that way (assuming you don't just get 4 times the exp) in addition to difficulty levels. A solo run on the hardest difficulty could be fun.

I still feel like certain enemies are too tanky to the point where it doesn't feel like "Oh, I've got to find the right strategy" and the sabretooth guys still like to just move as your sword is on a downward swing but 2.0 seems much improved.

Frame-rate could obviously do with ironing out but we're still 12-18 months (I'm guessing World Wide Aug 2016 for some reason) out and even if it's hardly perfect it feels like an improvement from vanilla Duscae.

Hm, yeah I suppose with the indication, the player has a large enough window to parry while largely ignoring the guard on other instances. I guess I'd be satisfied if parrying on it's own was a little bit more of an independent action. Like I said before, I just want it too feel too scripted or too much like a QTE, so I think I'd be satisfied if they just made the window for pressing square a little shorter, removed the button prompto, and made the animation/slowdown less exaggerated so it flowed better with the rest of the combat. Ideally though, they'd just make it so that L1+Square has noctis put his sword up independently of what's going on and you just have to do it in time with the indicator/attack to parry, so that it essentially exists as it's own thing.

I've been one to complain about the removal of Versus XIII stuff... but man, that gameplay is fine, so very fine. It makes you really feel in the middle of intense battles.

Once proper magic is in, I could see it have enough life into it for a full game worth.
