E3 2015 Predictions & Discussion thread

I hope Sony takes some feedback from how they do Gamescom and PSX to tighten up how they do E3. It's always their worst conference in pacing.

Who asked for Killzone? Sigh.

Those who liked Cambridges attempt.

Now that the big E3 ship is starting to leak even further, it's time :

Look Killzone has tonnes of potential, but we are 4 games in, the franchise is no going to all of a sudden become a big time player, I'd rather a studio do something new then work on a killzone title.

Yes, Sony, let your constantly multi-million selling franchise die!

Incredible idea!

I may be in the minority here, but I really want to see a Killzone game that covers the earlier days of the franchise's backstory. Seriously. Some pretty awesome stuff: Killzone Timeline Unfortunately, any evidence of this backstory has been scrubbed from the Killzone website. Only sites like the Killzone Wikia page still show it. Apparently some Hollywood writer wrote the backstory stuff for Guerrilla Games. I fear its considered to be non-canonical now.

If they did do games from this era, they would be quite different from the Killzone games we know. They would probably have a slower/calmer tone and be more dramatic/story-heavy. Perhaps not even a first-person shooter. But they would be beautiful.

I liked Mercenaries because it had good gameplay. They should take that great gameplay and build an IP that actually interests people.

Killzone sells millions.

Shadowfall did gangbusters, and there's no reason to believe that people are not interested in the IP.

If they didn't call Shadow Fall "Killzone 4," I don't think they'll ever call anything Killzone 4. It'll be Killzone: subtitle

Yeah, I want them to go back the way, hell let people finally play as the Helghast or have a split campaign with the ISA during the first invasion.

I guess that's fair if they don't cost too much to make, but they seem like pretty big investments. Sony keeps making them though so I guess they must be worthwhile.

Always felt resistance was way better and grossly underrated, 3 was awesome. Rather a new resistance.

Me too (3 is masterful). But again, you guys are projecting your own feelings on everyone else.

R3 didn't sell very well, Shadowfall did gangbusters. That's the reality. Best scenario we can hope for is what (seems to) be happening: GG moves on to something else, and the people that managed to inject some really nice life into the franchise with Mercenary takes over.

Hell, let's keep using Resistance: After the promising first one, they had a misstep with R2 and then came back with an amazing game in Resistance 3.

Think about how much it would do if it had a compelling story, unique worlds, etc.
Unique worlds and a compelling lore is something Killzone already has in spades. It's the delivery of the actual story and the plots themselves that are failing. I think you are hitting on the wrong point here!

Shadowfall was competing with Call of Duty and Battlefield 4 at launch.

Surely being a launch title helped, but the sales are still uniformly and undeniably great.

Guys, maybe this is just a red herring.

I don't think Killzone will be part of Sony's E3 show; maybe they'll announce new DLC but who knows. I don't expect anything major though.

"Lore" isn't really worth anything. Storytelling is what connects to people. If there is a great story to be told then tell it in a meaningful way, otherwise I don't have any reason to care about the "lore".

Google image search "killzone screenshots". That's what the public thinks of the series.

Only reason I care about this is because the gameplay really is good and it deserves to shine.

I am well aware of that man, that's why I specified I would rather see resistance. From a business standpoint yes I can see Killzone making a lot more sense.

I think they are just feeding us.

Bought Killzone Trilogy for PS3, but, don't think they will do it again for PS4...
KZ1 was horrible... Really. KZ2 is playable but also furstrating. KZ3 is fun and challenging sometimes.

In general. Probably. Maybe. Perhaps.

Very excited for Sony's.

I dunno... I feel like year after year the prehype is almost always insinuating that Sony will have this amazing show, but when the show actually ends I always find myself asking "Where was all the awesomeness that people hinted at??"

I seriously cannot remember a year where Nintendo and MS got the crazy insider hyping that Sony seems to get every single year.

Yeah would be my takeaway as well, either new DLC or just a normal picture update...

It sold well enough, despite lackluster reviews (yes I know it's a launch game..).
And they are already developing a new IP, even though it's in Amsterdam.
So I'm pretty sure that they won't develop another new IP at Cambridge as well.

Interesting bit, Mathijs de Jonge who was director on KZ 2+3 will be the director of the new IP Horizon.

I doubt they're gonna announce a new KZ at E3 though.

The hell is going on? Less than a week left and all kinds of news is coming from left and right. Why couldn't we have the last week a quite one? You now, the calm before the storm. This kind of sucks...

Oh, well. Still excited for E3, looks like it's going to be a good one.

Taking over the Killzone Franchise would be a good step back for Cambridge on the homeconsole Market.
Let them gain experience & prove themself - afterwards they can work on a new ip

Maybe they can breath new life into this Franchise.

Maybe companies are getting some announcements out of the way now to make room for much more during their shows? Like how now we can get straight to a Fallout 4 demo now that the reveal is done and how EA doesn't need to take a few moments to re-reveal Mirror's Edge and can get right to the game.

At least that's what I'm hoping for.
