Splatoon |OT2| Prepare to Dye

kelp dome turf wars....very interesting

it's a hard map to manage

I hope the update in August will let us customize all the rules, I would love to play a 5 minute turf wars match on kelp dome and see what strategies develop

Saw this on my twitter

Space pirate Ridley and his buddy made it!

Boney stop being splatted by red! !
I can't!!!!

Lol sorry. GWX

I gotta go, in fact. Still, had a bad time so far, especially team-wise. I'll be back in half an hour ;)

edit: actually, there was a moment that was MK8-worthy, lag wise. The bad guy (Daniel, I believe), just stood there while a huge X was showing on my aim reticle and my shots weren't connecting, until I eventually died. Felt bad man.

I've made lyrics to the 2nd multiplayer song.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnOf5pHFiB4

TEN DAYS AGO
I MADE THIS SONG
BECAUSE OF YOUUUUUUU
I realize that you can't be fooled
I can have this sentiment too
Don't feel low so you can get by
save myself from youuuuuu.
No kindness within empty eyes
save myself from youuuuuu.

(You said "go..go..gogogo I can go go goodbye")
(I say "No no no no no I can stay, You Go!")
(You say "Bye bye... B...bye bye, watch me go" and then go)
(And I think "Wh..wh..why why why" every time you go)
(I say "go..go..gogogo you can go go goodbye")
(Then I think "No no no no no don't go!")

I realize that you can't be fooled
I can't believe...

Oh hey new map Kelp dome!

*plays*

Man fuck Kelp Dome.

Maybe its my team but holy shit its too open and too big to keep covered.
  • Ran the tactic of death from above but the grating makes it very fleeting since you can't refuel without dropping through the ink to the chaos below.
  • Ran the tactic of staying on the outside of the middle square and taking the territory by splatting it from the edges safely. Didn't work because of the chaos from above (afore mentioned grating path) that everyone takes in order to reach those spots.
  • Ran the tactic of ignoring the middle to splat the perimeter and get inkdrops and to cut off the enemy to pin them in their base...only worked ONCE when someone else caught on and helped me. Rest of the time the full team would either fucking follow and leave it open in the middle or just die without my .52 gal/Squencher cover.
  • Ran the tactic of heading for the middle pillar...suicide. It can be hit from all grating and from below and can't be defended because its too narrow plus its peppered with inkdrops constantly. No mans land.

Fucking hell...I think this is either a ninja squid brush map because you have to move so much or an aerospray stage for the fast rate of fire. Too much space to protect anything so squelcher is pretty much out because Inkwall does nothing of use. .52 gal dego is good for seekers, kill shots, lobbing, and coverage, brush is solid too. Just a run and gun stage. No tactic will hold its ground. You can circle the enemy fast, you can snipe fast, and you can claim the zone fast...but you can't hold any position. You have to run from every tactic to the next nonstop.

Chaos. Anyone who has a solid tactic to hold it that doesn't require full team cooperation lemme know because DTA dont trust anybody applies in Splatoon.

After playing two matches on kelp dome I like it a lot. A little easy to forget to paint your base though; my first game our team almost lost because most of our base was still unpainted lol

People need to remember that unpainted ground doesn't matter at all.

If you look at the map and notice that some ground near your base is unpainted but the enemy base is all painted up, don't think to yourself, "darn we would've won if only we'd painted that bit near our base."

Because if someone had taken the time to paint that spot near your base, that's time that they WEREN'T painting elsewhere on the map, and at the end of the game you would've just been like "darn we lost because we didn't paint as much as they did."

That's always why you lose, because you got outplayed by the enemy team. Unpainted ground is meaningless. 50% of the map could go unpainted, and you could still win as long as you maintained control over the remaining 50%.

Haha, the same happened to me since the first time I saw that post. On another note:

Splatoon |OT2| Blue & Orange, Blue & Orange, Blue & Orange, Blue & Orange

Yeah, ahuh, you know what it is
Every place claimed, keep it free of lames
Yeah ahuh, shooting ink for hours
When we call down the 'strikes, the turf's ours
Slippin' through the zone layin' paths our way
Blue & Orange (repeat x4)
Buy out the stores, three stars next day
Blue & Orange (repeat x4)

Alright guys good games, I'm probably done for the day

Love the new map so easy to get points as an aerospray, as if it wasn't already easy enough, and it's big but I always manage to get into fights so it's a good big

Okay...I'm thinking aerospray or inkbrush here. Only things I know of that fast and that good at area coverage with goo subweapons for this map.

Anyone having luck? Whats your loadout and tactic?

Word. Always prioritize painting over enemy ink.

It feels like Kelp Dome favors large ink spreading weapons that are efficient on ink (Jr. and Aerospray).

The roller felt kinda useless outside of basically sharking people going on the grate path and getting them below, but that would be hard to do with people basically being able to shoot any ink below them. Then again, I hate the standard roller/Krak-on roller, so maybe someone else can do something with it.

Interested in seeing how chargers will work for this map.
Until I snipe it down. =D
Not if you're always dead ;)

You edited that quick
As long as it got up there once, then that's a win for me regardless of the outcome of the actual match. :p
I'm actively trying to grief snipers on that stage just because I want my win conditions to keep on chugging. :lol

Also, I am thoroughly surprised how much work a sprinkler thrown onto the structure over the splat zone on Urchin Underpass can do. Sustaining the area for the entire match unless I'm killed or there's a sniper/squelcher on the other team is kinda nuts.
I'm thinking about just sticking to this one: https://41.media.tumblr.com/fa9ae98abb4db780bff6514e7e872474/tumblr_npn8ujy7QT1ux7li8o1_1280.jpg

Just so people stop ink striking my sprinkler lol.

And you're talking about this right?

Yea, it's a really good spot. It even covers the spot people don't really cover unless they want to go up there.

Aerospray here, didn't use any specific load out I was leveling up equipment, I think aerospray would be what your looking for, u mentioned running out of ink on the upper pathways well my special meter filled up as my ink was running low every time, then use it and bam you got a full tank of ink and don't have to go down, I managed to get 1700+ a couple times just doing this

Not true. Yes painting over enemy territory is double the net gain, but it's harder to get a hold of. I've had cases where we lose by 2% and that's because nobody painted a key path that could've given us the edge. Painting your part of the 60% is what's gonna count for the win. You don't have to be super detailed about it and you're gonna do it during the whole match not right at the start all of it, but it's important to little by little paint most of your home turf while you keep pushing forward.

I think the aerospray works well for the new map. You can cover an entire big area pretty quickly. There are lots of large areas to cover, but the areas are still pretty long hallways, so the seeker can go really far before stopping. And the inkzooka too.
