Fallout 4 - Multiple E3 Gameplay Demos, Releasing November 10th, 2015

Ugh, that dialogue system looks awful. It's gonna be Bioware all over again where you are constantly surprised by what your character is saying. Everything else looks great though, hope it won't sink the experience completely.

Can't say I ever had much of an issue with that in Mass Effect. Also CDP has been doing something pretty similar with the Witcher games and can't say it's been a problem for me there either.

This doesn't make sense. The conversation can have just as many questions and lines from your character as before. Doesn't matter that you are presented with 4 to start with. If you ask one and it replaces it with another, it's no big deal.

Yeah I don't see why it can't work like ME and Witcher where you can select a "let's talk more about x" option and then it breaks into presenting more dialog options based on that topic.

Wasn't that impressed with the videos. Looks like a better looking version of the fallout I played years ago. I hope I'm wrong, if no i'll just wait for the version that comes with all the dlc for the same price a year later.

Other companies should take note. That's the way you do a game reveal : concrete info, no bullshit graphics, solid release date.

I liked what I saw except the dated graphics, bad lip sync and voice acting, mass effect style dialog, animations...
Everything else looked awesome, goddamn I can already imagine the mods.

And wow power armor finally lives up to its name!

I can understand people having misgivings for a voiced protagonist because they simply want to roleplay in a certain way but there will be no limitation outside the usual thing with fully voiced games where you cannot divulge a novel in a single conversation.

Well, that and the apparent hard limit of 3-4 dialogue choices per conversation and the short text choices that don't match to what the character is actually saying. Those are both pretty big deals in a series that at one time was known for its focus on dialogue checks.

My problem is that there only seemed to be one voice. That's gonna be jarring when compared to things like Saints Row.

They can have more options. 3 buttons show options, fourth button is a "more" button that shows you the other options. It's basically the same as when you have to scroll.

damn the pipboy edition on PC is a physical copy i was hoping for a digital download

It's too early to tell exactly what is in there (unless I missed a hard announcement from Bethesda). Special edition preorders are notorious for having imperfect information for quite a while. Doubly so when it's E3 and places like Amazon are just using placeholder imagery from the company. The details on Amazon are super scant, so until I see something from Bethesda saying their PC edition is hard copy only, I'll just keep assuming they're going to at least be aware that many PCs don't even have disc drives any more and they'll have a download code.

Sorry for my ignorance. So this game is confirmed to have the same dialogue choices as before? I just hope it's fully fleshed out dialogue where the dialogue really matches the choices.

I need to re watch the video it seems. I do have issues with it from a role playing perspective, but awesome if it is exactly like the past two games and 1:1 the amount of choices. Thanks for pointing that out. I apologize for my previous posts.

Well, I don't think it will be LESS than Fallout 3's offerings, with a few conversation choices depending on your perks/stats.

Don't you think those first 4 dialogues choices open up other dialogue choices.

I guess there is no pleasing everyone. But reading this thread, you guys act like you've been playing it for days already. Its quite sad how quick people are to judge and then wanna bash everything when they see something for a couple of seconds.

I really dislike the HUD. Something about it just bugs me, maybe how lazy it looks.

That said, im hyped as fuck. Cant wait to start modding!

I mean, this is Bethesda, dude. They're not exactly known for stellar writing/dialogue and each successive game they make is more streamlined and dumbed down.

The fact that they focused the entire reveal on crafting and combat kinda shows the direction they seem to want for this game.

Oh, get off it. We're talking about what we saw in the video. Go wave the "quick to judge" flag at all the "OMG HYPE TRAIN XD" posts if you feel so strongly about people talking about what they've seen so far. If it's wrong to be concerned about what is being shown, then it's wrong to be excited.

Or, just realize that we're talking about a game on a game discussion board and dial it back a notch.

That's definitely true. I'm sure we'll get a story trailer at some point between now and November, too. Right now, they're focused on the flashy stuff. It is E3, after all.

Everything looks really great.

Hell, I'm impressed by the graphics. The lighting and PBR gives it more life than any previous Bethesda RPG by far, even if a few other graphical elements aren't exactly top notch.

It's far easier to be forgiving of enthusiasm than it is cynicism, personally.

Not saying you shouldn't criticize or anything, just speaking in general terms.

It looks so good. I really like the change in how dialogue is handled and that you can pop in and out.

Now i just need the PC requirements.

White guy voice is a white guy voice.

Yeah, expected this kind of answer.
There is no white, black, asian, whatever voice. Voices are varying in region. E.g. there are various African countries with different kinds of languages requiring different "voices". You can't say there is a typical black voice there because there is such a variety of african countries which differ extremely concerning the usage of the voice.

When they showed the retro style games being played, it took me back to Dangerous Dave in Copyright Infrigement. I thought since they owned iD Software and they had a clone of a few Nintendo and various other retro games that it would make sense.

I could be just grouping information together, but it just made sense.

Edit: John Romero is doing a Dangerous Dave on mobile, a remake. They wouldn't own the rights, but it was just funny to see.

If your PC can run Skyrim with the texture pack you shouldn't have a problem. Bethesda games are many things but they seem to be well optmised, would hope so with that ancient engine.

Finally had a look at the crafting system, looks like a refined version of an old mod that I could never get to run properly, so that's kind of awesome :)

Looks awesome. Except this BioWare dialoge wheel stuff. What is this shit? I want my silent protagonist back ;(

But maybe it helps to deliver a better story atmosphere, who knows. And hell yeah at release date. Christmas is saved this year!

I personally don't like customizable crafting type of things in games and always felt like they were a tedious waste of time, the worst in recent memory being the grenade/bomb stuff in Assassins Creed Revelations which annoyed the fuck out of me. Just give me like 15 core weapons each with their pros and cons I don't need tons of options for that, same with things like armor.

I'm extremely excited for the story part of the game though and I just hope they don't force you to find things to build weapons or whatever.

I can promise you it's going to be well more demanding than that. It may not be The Order, but it's still an entirely next-gen looking game.

I respectfully disagree with the footage seen thus far, and I cannot see how you can either unless you have the power to see youtube videos at their natural bitrate.

Just give me confirmation of no loading screens and I'm there. I have the Pip Boy edition on pre-order but if it comes out that even entering a house pops up a loading screen I'm out. Can't deal with that both after Witcher 3 and being 2015.

Unless you're going for a caricature of different ethnicities, what exactly would each non-white voice sound like?

A voice from someone who is actually that ethnicity for each one. Otherwise you have a white dude voicing a black or asian guy. Whoever's voicing this sounds like boring mcvideogame voice

I just hope that reviewers are going to be this time objective and score the game for what it is, and not because of the fact that the game is made by Bethesda
Sorry, buddy, the reviewers have already been payed. I heard even random gamers are getting payed to rate too.

For you picky bastards, is there any reason Bethesda can't make the protagonist silent for the actual dialogue back-and-forths and let you select from the full subtitle if you are one of those monsters? And that just leaves him/ her voiced for cutscenes/creation?

Please Bethesday, don't make an invisible end of the world wall. I wish an open world game would allow you to go on infinitely into the frontier to fight tougher and tougher enemies. Maybe make random spots for loot. The world should have a natural limit for you where you simply cannot survive to go further. That terrain can be much more plain since it is just supposed to be no-man's land. It would also give you some great opportunities to use the best weapons and gear in the game. Bethesda games always become too easy once you stack up on the better gear.
