Uh, wait. Don't you play as the child of the two parents? Or do I need to watch the trailer again?
You play as the father or the mother, depending who you choose.

Oh come on, man.
I do agree that NV is the superior experience of the ones you listed, but they are so much alike in every aspect, especially NV and FO3 that this comes across as completely illogical to me.
Did the better story, quests and dialogue do so much for you in FNV then? It's kind of hard to believe.

What you are asking for is a gay or lesbian character. "LGBT character" means nothing. LGBT is a group of people, not one individual.
Besides, who says he is not bisexual. Just because he is married doesn't mean he is straight.
Didn't you see the gameplay demos? You play as one of the parents. Not the baby.
People need to get over what they think these games should be at this point.
It's Todd Howard's game. You either like what he builds or you don't, but he ain't making a linear story focused RPG. And by the way, every game he's made has been more successful then the one before it, so he doesn't need to change his focus.
Thank goodness. Because I don't want a linear story focused RPG. I want a crazy ass Todd Howard sandbox, and I'm getting what I want.

The story, quests and dialogue are the only reason I played through FNV.
I don't know about you, but those three are the qualities I judge my RPGs on.
That's kind of important in a game like this. I didn't enjoy FO3 but loved NV, which is why it's hard for me to get excited about this. I'm really hoping for the best though.
The hyperbole.
This looks very fun. Looking forward to this game.

Seriously, barring any massive surprises in the next 24 hours, how anybody couldn't think that this is the most interesting game of this year is completely beyond me.
It looks like it will be absolutely spectacular and is among the few games that could actually justify a $60 price tag.
Serious post? It's an RPG. Of course those things matter a lot, in fact, they're the most important aspects for many people when it comes to RPGs
I always feel like a strange outlier in which I enjoyed FO3 more than NV. I couldn't even finish New Vegas. I was just "gripped" more by FO3 and that wasn't evident during my time in NV.
Maybe it's a Bethesda thing? Maybe a product of it's time?

Thats the problem. Peoples thoughts are instantly thrown up onto the internet. Nobody processes anything anymore.
Just watch the giant bomb guys talking over the Bethesda conference. Negativity, snide mocking jokes, more negativity then once its over they're like.... well that was cool.
Well said. Anyone who thinks otherwise is either racist or tricked by racist Hollywood.I'm a convinced supporter of equality but this just doesn't add up. I provided an explanation, others stated similar points and a dude said that his voice sounds like that caricature of a white guy even though he isn't white, so why are you ignoring all of this? Those "black", " Asian", etc voices are a social construct to generalise how certain minorities "speak" and to mock them. White people established them through movies, books, etc. but there are no real differences in your voice linked to your skin colour, it's just false. As I said in my previous post: you would find differences among different African countries even though the population is black.
What you do is pretending that there is a certain kind of voice among different minorities and ignore the variety of them.
Nothing wrong with it. I enjoyed Fallout 3 over New Vegas too.
Not even a little. The gameplay itself looks basically indistinguishable from Fallout 3, where it was terrible and repetitive already. There's a reliance on the iconography of Fallout (Super Mutants again, Brotherhood of Steel again) with no thought for how that applies in the world. Role-playing has been completely stripped out in favour of a generico-protagonist. From what we've seen of the story, it looks like maudlin crap, calculated to hit at the lowest common denominator of emotional resonance. Which is a bit heartbreaking given that New Vegas was one of the most complicated and thoughful pieces of worldbuilding ever created.
It's a game that's clearly trying to be a wacky post-apocalyptic themepark simulator with a story that assumes the player is an idiot and treats them as such. It's fine if you think the game looks fun, but nothing about the game looks fresh, smart or interesting. I am really curious what value anyone sees in these trailers that hasn't been done exactly like this by Bethesda on multiple prior games.
Retire this grandpa engine.

Okay, I can put the crafting behind me but let's talk about the dialogue wheel.
Kinda crazy how they have not 1 but 4 low INT answers for you to pick. I wonder how many there are for high INT characters, possibly more than you have buttons on the controller!
No wait, it's the same exact problem that this implementation always has: you pick a word and then your character says or might not say something in lines of the word or two you chose. I am playing Witcher 3 right now and it's bothering me to no end: sometimes what the character says is even exactly as long as the description text but just said differently. Wow much dynamic interaction. At least in Life Is Strange you can rewind back when the option doesn't do anything you expected it to do, unlike in Telltale games.
Of course it's serious.
See my response a couple of posts above.
Sure, I remember being able to give commands to my companions in Fallout 3.Not even a little. The gameplay itself looks basically indistinguishable from Fallout 3, where it was terrible and repetitive already.
This is a Fallout game, those things will be there for a reason. Do you have access to a story trailer or something where it was explained that Deathclaws, Super Mutants and BoS are there just because? The canon ending for Fallout 1 states that the remaining army of Super Mutants fled to the East. There, that's your reason for them existing. Did you also call Fallout 2 dogshit because it had Super Mutants? There's a reliance on the iconography of Fallout (Super Mutants again, Brotherhood of Steel again) with no thought for how that applies in the world.
What does this even mean? In the original Fallout you could choose from three different pre-defined characters or create one from scratch. Isn't that kind of the same here? You can choose to play as whatever family background is available from either a male or female protagonist, or you can play the character however you like. Did you miss the SPECIAL interface?Role-playing has been completely stripped out in favour of a generico-protagonist.
I can't believe you're jumping to conclusions. We know nothing about the story. We know *a bit* about the characters and setting, but nothing as to why things are happening, motivations, goals, etc. From what we've seen of the story, it looks like maudlin crap, calculated to hit at the lowest common denominator of emotional resonance. Which is a bit heartbreaking given that New Vegas was one of the most complicated and thoughful pieces of worldbuilding ever created.
How? Please explain HOW it is doing that. It's a game that's clearly trying to be a wacky post-apocalyptic themepark simulator with a story that assumes the player is an idiot and treats them as such.
I do, thanks for giving me permission to think. It's fine if you think the game looks fun,
I never said any of those things.but nothing about the game looks fresh, smart or interesting.
Google Fallout 3 reveal trailer and come back and tell me it looks "exactly like this".I am really curious what value anyone sees in these trailers that hasn't been done exactly like this by Bethesda on multiple prior games.
PS: is it just me or Todd Howard trolled Nintendo with that "second screens are fucking stupid gimmicks"? rotfl
Totally did, just before introducing something equally if not more gimmicky.
I didn't like Fallout 3 that much and got bored of it. I wonder if I would like Fallout 4. I just watched a recap of their conference and so much of it is quite amazing.
