DOOM Gameplay Demo (E3 2015)

Gotta wait for release.

It looks like Doom 3. Maybe mods will fix it but it looks like Doom 3.

I have no interest in Doom 3 with QTEs.
Ignoring this one till it gets here. I hope that it is not just another game that gets uninstalled in favor of the older versions, like most releases the I am ever somewhat interested in.

QTE's? It's an optional melee takedown.


Some people seem down on this game but damn that looks fun to me. I can see this being a great game.

Nobody is making levels that are just crates anymore and no AAA game is going to have the speed of the old games. There at least were more enemies in the second video. A lot more. That seemed to be further into the game though.
 
I think we can expect a hell of a lot more takedowns. They are aware that it gets repetitive seeing the same animations.

I would love PC idtools to enable people to create their own snapmap prefabs for others.

SO much better. Just changing the sky so it's a completely different color from the ground makes such a change, and I love the vibrant Cacodemons.
 
One little conplain. I dont like the pause choose weapon menu. I want it hold school, where you cycle to the weapon of your choosing. It doesnt break the action that way.

Other than that.... Spring 2016 is too far dammit!

On PC you can probably just use the numberbar to switch. Weapon wheel is just there for console players.
 
Put me in the "it looks fucking awesome" camp.

Thing is, I do agree with a lot of the complaints in this thread, but I feel they're minor issues that don't outweigh the strong positives. There's also another year of development time, so the game will be improved and tweaked.

The major question mark is the level design, and I don't think we've seen enough to be concerned yet.
 
Someone should render a color corrected version of the Hell portion of the presentation.
Was just about to mention that.

I wonder how the altered image was changed exactly / and in turn how much manual labor would be needed to alter the videos.
 
We need a petition to get Bethesda to see that color corrected version. I love the game right now, but it looks a million times better when corrected.
 
I was really impressed with what they showed. I've only played the first Doom when I was like 7 but I'm really looking forward to grabbing this. The map editor looks dope.
 
Hehe, it's kind of funny that this is pretty much the opposite of what happened with Diablo III. Tons of petitions were started, was crazy.


It had a big effect on the game as well, the colors were a lot more muted in the end game I think.
 
I'm appreciating this a lot more after the MS conference. For starters let's be glad we got a demo for a shooter that didn't primarily consist of slow walking and tons of dialogue. The gameplay looks great and the weapons look very satisfying. After Wolfenstein I think we can have a little more faith in id software to make a compelling single player game.

Edit: I do agree that they need to get rid of the piss filter though.

Thankfully we have reshade, enb and sweetfx. Also Durante.

All the whining about D3's colors did was get a rainbows and unicorns secret area added to the game, and the dev team started wearing really cheerful t-shirts around.
 
I thought maybe I had just gotten cynical and this game really looked great but then I saw that Shadow Warrior 2 footage and drooled all over my self. Super-fast gameplay and an actual melee system. Bethesda needs to take note.
 
Looked amazing. Fast and a great shotgun. I wonder if the slo-mo weapon changing can be toggled in options. Although if anything it was a great showcase for some of the firefight animations. Re: the finishing melee moves, were there two options depending if aiming at the legs or torso?
 
I prefer either version (piss filter and colour corrected), both look great to me and i look forward to going nuts with the awesome chainsaw.

Hm, I found the game at release noticeably more muted than the previews. Lots of fog everywhere too.

I think the change is needed much more in this case though. It looks like a severely yellow color graded scene in a movie. That color adjustment livens it up, makes the enemies more distinct and looks more similar to the original, all without damaging the image quality. Really feel like it's an improvement in this case.
 
One of the craziest things about Doom were the hellish skyboxes. Something as simple as a red sky can make such a drastic difference.

One of my favorite was actually the simple black sky with stars from Final Doom's 'space' levels. It made the setting so desolate and dark.

This and the burning fire one from Hell Keep etc were killer!

Very, very nice.
Also love the green on the gauntlet, so much better than what the original graphics have.
 
I hope the colour corrected version of these pics spread like wildfire so the devs can pick up and adjust the game to follow suit. At least colour correct to 50% closeness.
