This thread is for stupid GAMING questions that don't deserve their own thread

I'm a male but I like playing as females characters in games especially in mmorpgs, am I a perv?

Depends why you play as a female character. Do you do it just to look at her? Do you do it because of the attention female avatars gets in online games? Do you do it to play out some sort of gender confusion? Is there another reason?

Perversion in of itself is something everyone has a different view of. Perversion in general is what your particular country/society/group decides is perverted or not.

Some people see nothing wrong with playing as a female character for the aesthetics in a 'its your choice and you're not hurting anybody' way, but if you dress up a character to say look like a girl you fancy then yeah maybe that strays into perversion.

Some guys go around with nearly topless models as phone wallpapers etc and they are seldom called perverts, they are just 'being guys'.

Tried to play Silent Hill 2 on my 360 but it won't work. Is there a specific update I need or something.
Also, where can I buy it for PC? (Aside from Amazon)

I'm having attachment issues, GAF.

I want to transfer my Wii to my Wii U so I can keep with the times, upgrade some games to the Wii U versions for discounted prices and just have the one console connected to the TV. But I know doing this will restore my Wii to factory settings. We've been through so much together.

And then there's the SSB Melee & Brawl game saves on my GameCube Memory Card and GameCube controller ports. I have the GCN adapter for Wii U but sometimes SSBU just doesn't scratch that itch like Melee or Brawl do.

Should I just deal with it and perform the transfer?

Is it still a huge pain in the ass to remove a credit card from your Xbox Live account?

Shouldn't be. Unless you're trying to do it via the website.

I just called the 1-800 number yesterday to cancel my girlfriend's gold sub, and they took the card off without a problem.

Is there any way to download a Wii U game using a friend's account (who bought the game in question) on your own Wii U?

As far as I know, games are locked to account and console. So it shouldn't be possible. But I never tried.

Edit:
Should I just deal with it and perform the transfer?

It doesn't restore your Wii to "factory settings", it moves everything it can to the WiiU (and therefore deletes it on the Wii). You can use homebrew to restore stuff (if you made a backup before), but I don't think that's perfectly legal since you'd duplicate your licenses.

Not sure why playing SSB Melee should be a problem after the transfer. Gamecube saves are not touched. The Brawl save will be moved, though. But again, you can backup the save with homebrew.

You just like to be in control with women.

With Melee in the mix, you cannot have The One Console, modding aside. Also, Wii BC on U is layered below another loading screen, that's suboptimal. Also, U no can 50Hz => crappy PAL VC.

Now that Xbone is getting 360 backwards compatibility, I should start paying attention to those Games With Gold. Can you claim them for free on the web store or something? I'm trying to claim Thief there, but it's showing up as $35.

Having to call in is an unreasonable pain in the ass. Guess I'm buying cards.

Thief isn't until tomorrow. In a few hours at the earliest, depending on where you live.

For some people it may be. It definitely wasn't for me. I called, placed myself in line to be called when the next operator was available, answered 9 minutes later, asked to remove her subscription and the card, they did, and I hung up. Call took probably 5 or 6 minutes total.

Another question...

Does anything come close to Half Life 3 now? People have been dying for TLG, well, there it is. FF7 remake? On the way! In terms of fanbase & desire, does anything come remotely close to Half Life 3 right now?

Beyond Good & Evil 2, although it's been abandoned according to that thread. Warcraft 4, new WipEout (that might be too niche/hardcore), Silent Hills.

I love Warcraft & Wipeout, but no way do either, especially the latter, come close to the effect a HL3 reveal would have.

BG&E2, eh? It still wouldn't be close, but I'd love it all the same.

I guess, after reading a few other threads, Agent is the closest thing right now.

So I am on a new XB1 console. My old XB1 was in the preview program. My new one isn't. Is there a way to re-download the preview app?

FF7 remake will replace TLG as a far off game that people will start to think has been cancelled.

So, some coworkers and I were talking about E3, and Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes came up. Someone said that on one of the side missions, you ended up rescuing Hideo Kojima. I soured when I heard this, and asked if you could instead shoot him in the head. My coworker seemed surprised at this question, and asked me why I would want to shoot Kojima in the head. A number of reasons, I thought, but the answer I said was, "So I can see what he's thinking." Then everyone got really quiet. Was it something I said?

Easiest way to get PSN games on my PSP? I want to redownload my copy of FF5, but I heard the service was down. I have a PS3 & PC I can use, but no card reader.

Yeah I was thinking that myself, haha.

Is Sony' clause still in effect where games first released on other non-Sony platforms have to have extra/exclusive content included with the PS-version before it can be released?

Kinda looking forward to RotTR, but it's Xbox timed-exclusive for now.

Why does Wolfenstein the New Order have a level with a fucking NAZI occupied MOON, and not make it the actual base of Deathshead, or you know the LAST LEVEL???? The grand conclusion should've been on the FUCKING MOON!

Why is the big ass boss after the FUCKING MOON, not the last boss? The Deathshead fight was fucking terrible, but this fight was awesome.

Then the games play the most out of place song ever during the credits, in a stupid story that should've took itself less seriously. This is not some epic period piece war drama, it was a fucking alternative 1960s Wolfenstein reboot with big guns, and a Nazi occupied Earth a total dumbass plot taken seriously to the EXTREME!

I don't want to feel for B.J. Blackso-however-its-spelt, I want to shoot nazis with over the top action and have the game recognize how ridiculous it was and have fun with it not be all emotionally and sappy!

I lack an internet connection in my apartment right now, but want to replay Shenmue 2 on 360. I heard that you need to download a specific emulation file for it to play. Is this true, or can it run by itself if I just pop the disc in?

In The Last of Us Remastered, sometimes I see an icon in the bottom left corner of the screen that seems to be asking me to shake the controller or move it in some way. The game never explains why, and I don't even know if the DS4 has any kind of motion control. I tried shaking the controller but it doesn't do anything. Am I doing it wrong?

I was confused by that as well. I think it's supposed to recharge the battery in your flashlight.

Yeah, it's for your flashlight. I can't remember if you can only charge it by shaking the controller when the icon is showing or if you can just shake it whenever to keep it charged. I think it's the latter though.

I have a question for something I never really thought about until recently. My old CRT TV allows me to play my PAL GameCube games at 60Hz, but my PS2 makes the games show up in black and white when I try to play them at 60Hz. They are both connected with their red/yellow/white cable into scart. Is there any reason why the PS2 doesn't show in colour?

I can't remember, but I think 60Hz works when I connect my PS2 to my HDTV.

Thanks! I didn't even know you could run out of battery lol.

About your PS2: I think you need a real scart cable for 60hz games. You're using a composite cable (the worst kind of connection for CRTs) plugged into an adapter. I have a scart cable for my PS2 and 60hz games work perfectly (not to mention, the IQ is much better with scart).

Maybe. It just seems odd that the GameCube works with the composite into scart adapter, but the PS2 doesn't. I'll have to pick up a scart cable then.

Is Mega Man Battle Network worth playing? I was in Japan and went crazy on the capsule toy machines. I ended up getting a Megaman.exe keychain and now I'm contemplating playing those games. If I do, I'd prefer to start from the very beginning (GBA, right?) unless there's a collection or updated version more current?

I am a die hard Mega Man fan, beat 1-10 plus X1-4. MM2, 3, and 9 are my top favorites. I understand that Battle Network is more like an RPG though, I'm OK with this.

Are there brands I'd better be looking for, or any of those cheap cables (like Hama) will be OK? Although the latter may be the only thing still available, I guess.

It's absolutely worth your time to play at least a couple games in the series. Personally, my favourites are 5 and Battle Chip Challenge, but most folks will tell you 3 is the best, I imagine. You can start anywhere in the series, really; it's up to you.

The first game is pretty rough around the edges compared to the later games, but in a way that means it's good to start with 1 if you're planning on playing the whole series, since it'd be tough to move backward to after playing others. And it's not a bad game, all told, just rough.
If you know Japanese, the first game had a JP-only port on DS called Operate Shooting Star. It's only marginally different, but I would recommend it purely for the addition of the second-screen map, as the dungeons in EXE1 can be needlessly painful at times.

The magic words you need to look for are "Fully-wired RGB SCART". Note that that doesn't necessarily mean that it'll have all the pins, since not all of the pins are needed to transmit an RGB signal. Similarly, you can't assume that if it does have all the connectors, it's RGB; it might be that a bunch of them are just unwired pins.

It's reasonably common for a cheap SCART cable to actually only have a composite signal; I had to explain this at work quite often (with a few occurrences of "It must be RGB, it's got all the pins!")

As for this specific bit:

IIRC, GameCube 60Hz is PAL-60, and uses PAL colour encoding. PS2-60Hz is NTSC, and uses NTSC colour encoding. Looks like your CRT might cope with 60Hz but not NTSC colour encoding.

But it's been a very long time, so I might have misremembered that.

Edit: It's concievable that there are CRTs from that era which can handle NTSC colour encoding but need it to be selected from an options menu. Might be worth searching your TV settings just in case.

Edit2: Oh, one other thing: The stuff about fully-wired cables also applies to the SCART sockets on your TV. Sufficiently old TVs may only have one socket that's actually wired for RGB.

Well, yeah. It says "Model: Video Cable (RGB)", but nothing about being "fully-wired". So if I understand correctly, it's still component regardless of what they say, since they don't mention it being fully-wired?

Are Nintendo 3DS e-shop games (like Kirby's Triple Deluxe) locked to the account or the specific 3DS?
Account, if you have an NNID, otherwise hardware. The NNID regularly is tied to the hardware as well, though.

In any case, you can move everything at once (all or nothing) to another 3DS.

It's hard to say, of course, but if they're saying RGB it's probably good.

(And, just as a little aside: It's composite you want to really avoid. Component is actually quite good! Loads of people get those confused.)

I guess I can ask on local forums, maybe someone there has used that particular cable or know any still available brands that are actually RGB.

Oops, typo. Probably because the names are similar. I'm not sure if my TV would support it anyway, haha.

cool, I'll sprinkle it in to my current list of games. What's up with 5 being on GBA and DS then 6 going back to just GBA?

hey I have some old ps1 and ps2 controllers with worn out analog sticks, and I was wondering what I should replace the sticks with? would ps4, 360, or xbone sticks fit? is there a place I should go to get ps1 and ps2 sticks instead?
