Sony is definitely funding Shenmue 3 hence console exclusive.

Besides, if you really think Shenmue 3 only costs 2 mil dollars (kickstarter) you are delusional.
Yeah, it's really being funded by Sony. Kickstarter is the best new marketing strategy around. Should be scandalous if the real numbers ever get out.

I still can't believe I witnessed a conference where three dream games that everyone brings up every E3 to make fun of how disappointing all the conferences are gonna be because they never happen... were finally announced.

Like, what in the hell.

I actually think there is some real ground to criticize Sony on the fact that it's clear now their Holiday 2015 will be mostly third party games and remasters, but goddamn. When they pull the wool over ones eyes, they REALLY do it up. I can barely think of my other criticisms with how nuts that conference was.

It really was a masterwork. They threw as much subterfuge as possible to distract that they have absolutely nothing this fall. Don't get me wrong, I'm hyped for the FFVII remake, but all that was was a CG trailer and that thing is likely years away. Shenmue is even worse as that game doesn't even exist at this point.

This conference was so relevant to some of the biggest wish list rumors ever in gaming that I don't understand how you could deny objectively that this conference topped the others. I get not being into all the announcements, but that's a separate classification. And this is from someone with no attachment to two of the three huge announcements. The three urban legend announcements all happened together.

Salt mine up in here

And yes, I had the same reaction the whole conference.

OH god I need a youtube link for that.

I knew it was going to be legendary when it began on time, the stars were already aligned.

Thanks to whoever maintains the SonyGAF irc chat, was great to see the reaction when GAF was down.

You must not like gaming much eh? Sony historically killed E3 tonight. They nailed the hardcore people with the holy trinity (FFVII R, TLG, Shenmue 3), showed SFV. They got Call of Duty, Destiny, and other 'bro' stuff too. It's hard to top this.
They barely showed SFV, I have no interest in FFVII, TLG, or Shenmue 3 lol, and I've played Call of Duty before. All I wanted from Sony was some cool SFV stuff and Bloodborne, which we barely got for the former and got none of for the latter.

I promise you I like videogames.

Mm owned for me and I'm not even sure what the 'game' is. TLG looks great(yeah yeah, PS3 port). Horizon looks great. Lots of other stuff but my hats off to Mm. Can't wait to see more.

Really great conference, would have been awesome with more gameplay/release dates and Persona was sadly missing.
The sad part is that it still didn't sold me on a PS4 yet.

I'd say Sony's E3 tapped the buttons of NeoGAF. So that's great.

If anything, this E3 just re-opened and rubbed some acid into an old wound that is my purchase of that expensive shit that is the PS3. Such a regret after seeing this. I swear if Persona 5 won't come out of the PS3 worldwide...

But yeah, if TLG and FFVII remake, as well as FFXV, became a reality (as in a finished product out on the store shelves) and are worth the hype, then I'm in again for my fifth Playstation console.

TLG + Horizons + Dreams + No Man's Sky + SFV + World of Final Fantasy + Timed Exclusive FF7 Remake + Shenmue 3 + COD Partnership... and DAT Uncharted 4 GRAPHICS KING footage at the end... absolutely... incredible...

In years to come... we will be able to say we were there GAF... WE WERE THERE

As always the post-conference mental gymnastics are a pleasure to watch

Welp I guess Tallshortman was right about you not understanding what pandering means. "Pandering can be done in a bad way"? Pandering is inherently bad, definitionally so. One also doesnt "fall" for pandering, its explicitly indulgent, no trickery involved. I'd also say that Tallshortman was right about you not understanding the basic mechanics behind the company/consumer dynamic.

I'm guessing you misunderstood me. I'm saying it was done poorly in this case. I'm not arguing about the morality of it. It's pretty obvious that companies have to pander to their audience, but in this case it was done so blatantly and obviously to disguise a lackluster lineup. They announced an HD remake and let us know that a game that was supposed to be out last generation is finally coming out this generation. Then like 90% of everything else was third party stuff.

I'm sorry I'm not blinded by nostalgia, but it was a genuinely disappointing conference.

There is so much salt here you could cover a billion pretzels.

Nah, I appreciate the excitement for the holy trinity But I was never Bothered about any of them and the E3 demos/trailers for them weren't exactly as amazing as actually showing the title names on stage for the fans was.

For me if they'd have finally unveiled The Getaway or AGENT or even GT7 I'd probably be feeling the same way.

I give this conference 8/10

-Finally The Last Guardian but it didn't look that great. Perhaps it was the 720p stream feed that we got? Who knows its a year from now anything can happen.

-I didn't think it was possible but the FF7 remake and right after the troll we got from the PS experience. yeah..

-Shenmue 3, of course one of my favorite video game series of all time.

- The rest was ok, No Man's Sky looked ok seems a bit boring but we'll see. The demo didn't show the game's potential very well.

Ditto for this. FF VII is a timed exclusive. Never really got into the Shenmue games. Probably most excited about The Last Guardian, but it's been "hyped" for so many years that it's going to have to be truly amazing to overcome it's checkered past.

With the 360 winning the last generation, for anyone who hasn't yet gotten a current gen console, backwards compatibility -- depending on how big the list grows to be -- is something that could sway a lot of buyers to MS.

But nice conferences by both Sony and MS.

I don't think people care about bc all that much.

In entertainment factor Sony blew the roof off the building, but as for the gamer in me Microsoft gave me games i can expect in months along with backwards compatibility. Its definitely good to be a gamer

Sony has so much left for future shows it is ridiculous.

Plus, they didn't spend the majority of their time on Morpheus like many feared. They do need to prove why I would prefer to play a game like Rigs through Morpheus rather than on my TV. Nothing they showed looked impossible with a traditional set up.

By far the greatest conference I've watched.

THREE NUKES
+++ TLG right off the bat
+++ FF VII Remake
+++ Shenmue 3

Good stuff

+ DLNA
+ Uncharted 4
+ Horizon

Meh

- Disney Infinity
- CoD Partnership
- Destiny
- AC

9/10

Pretty good conference, but I'm surprised to say that Horizon was the standout title for me.

Looks so promising.

That said, I'm disappointed that the Level 5 game and Bloodborne DLC were missing in action. Guess they're for later events.

I have no more words, I know I'm not suppose to self promote and I'm sorry in advance if this is breaking the rules but this video pretty much sums up my thoughts on Sony...

They have plenty for the Holiday.

That's the big disparity between "gamers like us" and the reality.

They have huge third party partnerships, every major third party titles, remasters, huge indie exclusives. They got tons of games.

They just don't have the big first party exclusives that people like you and I really look for, since it makes PS4 special -for us- versus how many games we can just buy on our souped up PCs. And we've seen a lot of movement within Sony first parties, but a lot of stuff has been delayed/didn't go as smoothly, and we're seeing the result of that. Everything first party is 2016.

But PS4 has a zillion big games this Holiday. And that's why you will still see it selling very well, whilst people keep asking "where are the games?" It's just in the form of third party games/remasters/indies.

I agree with the YouTube panel on the Sony conference.

It gets a A+ for hype, that is for sure. But once the dust settles, the big highlights for me were:

A kickstarter

FFVII remake (not console exclusive, like the port was) and a CG trailer with No release date

No Mans Sky no release date

The Last Guardian looking EXACTLY like it did 6 years ago

Sony have pulled a blinder on the hype side of things. But what strong titles do they have coming for this holiday that need a PS4?

Yeah, same feeling Giant Bomb

I was wondering what MS shown to warrant such acclaim, Tomb Raider is not exclusive either and one of the worst demos I've seen.
Gears 4 and Halo we've all seen before, would be like announcing Killzone and God of War. Not the original teams and in the past the same people have been down on these games, seen as played out.

Fallout 4 is not exclusive
Plants Zombies 2 not exclusive
Dark Souls III cut scene not exclusive
The Division not exclusive
Rainbow 6 Siege not exclusive
indie games that both seem to have covered well
Rare games collection that I've seen before
Sea of Thieves looks pretty good, long way off
Fable 4/5, erm yeah
Recore cut scene 2016 game

Software emulation BC on maybe a hundred old 360 games over time
Hololens on Windows

Forza 6 yes great I will buy XBO just for that game. Cuphead looks brilliant

I'm not seeing much good from either conference, much of the criticisms being labeled at Sony conference like third party this, timed that, shit we've played before or its 2016, I'm seeing on the MS conference too.
