The Last Guardian re-revealed at E3 2015! Up Yours Y2Kev!

I'm seriously excited for you guys, and I probably need to go ahead and play Ico/SoTC so I can get excited with you.

For those of you who stayed the course, I salute you, cause I really thought this game was deader than disco.

Holy mother of god, I just got home from work and there is TLG, Dark Souls 3, Mass effect, Fallout 4, ff7 remake. WTF i cant even right now.... E3 this year is glorious.

Absolutely massive reveal, super keen for this one. I think the art style looks great but all the people saying ICO and Shadow of the Colossus weren't graphical showcases are definitely forgetting how good, particularly the latter, looked on ps2. The fur shader, dust particles massive streaming world with impressive fake HDR was all squeezing the console to its limits, definitely technically impressive.

Man I can't belive this wasn't cancelled after all.

Can't wait to see more about the game, hopefully we get a bit more info during the rest of E3

I saw enough to get a general idea of what the game is going to be like. I kinda don't want to spoil myself either.

It looks good. Really good. I'm glad it's alive.

Absolutely loved the beginning when the kid first runs out of the tunnel and that music plays. Beautiful.

Not sure what the folks that are saying this looks boring or underwhelming were expecting. It's from the same guy/studio that made Ico and SotC.

This looks so good! The mechanic of "controlling", or working with, the catbird looks so lovely. Jumping to tell it to jump was my favorite bit.

I don't wanna sound like a party pooper but that footage looked like an early PS3 game. Its like they just slapped some old footage for you guys to keep you content for the next half decade.

The one thing I didn't like about this is that it was kind of a non-puzzle. They could have made the same jump without pushing the structure down.

That may make more sense in the context of the game though.

Beautiful. It may not be that much different from last time but it still looks great.
My game of the show, and probably my game of the generation once it's over.

I can understand people who didn't know what to expect being disappointed, I imagine if you saw 5 minutes of Ico gameplay or shadow of the colossus gameplay not against a colossus you'd be bored too.

For anyone who has played Ico though, it looks like it will be a continuation of that. I don't think it will be the game to end all games or something crazy like it's been hyped up to be, heck, I don't even think it will be as good as Shadow of the Colossus. But if it's at least as good as Ico, I'll be happy.

They better not kill the animal.

The gameplay looked devoid of skill or thought, but it still managed to sink its emotional hooks into me, and I tensed up whenever the boy or the beast had to jump.

So it's doing what it set out to do. I'm interested.

The people bringing down this game need to remove the needle dripping twitch gaming and immediate satisfaction into their veins. This isn't COD, it's something much better altogether, if you actually breathe and let feelings move you. Also, gameplay both in ICO and SotC was great, no reason why it won't be the same for TLG. Something which I'm much more confident about now that I've seen the gameplay in that demo. It's seems to be closer to ICO than to SotC in that regard, but the kid climbing Trico's back was a beautiful mix of both styles.

Simply cannot wait to be playing it.

Dear Brothers of Shenmue, The Last Guardian and FFVII Remake GAF.

In our finest hour, under a united banner we willed a miracle in to existence.

Let it be forever remembered that this banner was created BEFORE the Sony Conference by fellow brothers.

Let us not forget this day, for this call to arms may be needed once again.

BELIEVE!

The Impossible 3. I shan't doubt GAF again

No I will but still this day holy fuckin shit

What i'm really interested in is how much can the catbird AI do. It's movements already look amazing.

SotC for me is still today the benchmark for realistic horse animation and behaviour in ANY game. They have amazing animators and programmers for it. It seems they're reaching for that same fidelity with Trico

I can't wait to try this. For anyone not understanding why all of us are so exited about this game. The reception Ueda got from the public should tell you why.

That man can create something out of videogames that few people can. Ico is a masterpiece and Shadow of the Colossus should be considered into the best of the history of videogames period. I am more interested in what Ueda does with this story and gameplay than how it looks. I played games that were incredible looking but played like crap and had the intelligence of a puddle. If TLG is at least half as good as Ico or SotC it can easily be GOTY material on every year it decides to come out. I just hope it isn't holidays 2016 and that the next Ueda game doesn't take forever to come out.

I believe the real puzzle is working with Trico. If you observed the trailer carefully he has different commands, which makes a lot of sense if they intend this to be a pet simulator. I expect Trico to have the nuances of a dog or a cat and obeying/disregarding your commands based on how you interact with it. That right there is an extremely bold and complex approach to AI which would explain the long development.

I'll say what everybody is scared to say:

It looked boring and a bit out of date. Like something that should have came out over half a decade ago. Just a bit more interactive than Tomb Raider's demo earlier today.

Yup, I'm sure it's still fairly enjoyable and has a nice heartfelt story, but all the hype was in the anticipation for this one, became a GAF meme

Yo man, this looked like the "tutorial" setting up the systems for increasingly more complicated and difficult challenges. And I think the systems themselves seem really clever, controlling the griffon in a way that feels more like its a living companion than an extension of yourself, but not in a frustrating way. I loved the bit where you have to use your jump button to show it you want it to jump. I bet the whole game is filled with clever shit like that but way cooler. At least, I'm hoping so.

Totally stunned to see this kick off the conference! I had written the game off for so long, but I'm happy to be wrong about this and have some new footage to see. I am admittedly not as excited for this as I once was due to how long it's been, but I am still down to play TLG!

I don't know what people were expecting, guns? Crafting? Open world online co-op? :p
It's the exact same stuff you were shown 6 years ago. You should be glad it hasn't departed from its original "vision"
This looks like a successor to Ico which is perfectly fine by me.

And yeah, the graphics weren't stellar but the game has a lot of polish to receive.

This, right here.

I think there's a lot of people who, despite claiming they loved SotC for its artistry, really just like big epic battles with huge monsters. This looks like more a return to Ico.

Great post. People complaining about the graphics or "boring" gameplay just don't get it. Not every game has to be instantly gratifying. Not every game has to be all action. Not every game has to require skill or fit the conventions of a 'game'. And not every gamer has to constantly fill XP bars and level up to be entertained.

Sometimes, the state of just existing in these incredible worlds is better. Appreciating all the facets of the art and game design coming together, and just letting it wash over you as you lose yourself. This game will probably make us shed real tears, just as ICO and SotC did. I'd take that over volumetric lighting or whatever the fuck.

To me, it looks like the PS4's Ico. Minimalist puzzle-platforming gameplay with major emphasis on tone and atmosphere. That's a good thing and I'm excited to eventually play it.

For all people complaining that it "looks like a PS3 game". Are we sure The Last Guardian was ever feasible on the PS3? I mean actually running well? I wouldn't be surprised if that was one of the main factors in the delay.

BELIEVE!
That should henceforth be the goddamn banner of GAF.

The biggest takeaway is that if that were on PS3, even if the graphics were the same, it'd probably run at 15 fps so in that sense alone it's an upgrade. I liked what I saw even though I'm not the hugest fan of Ico/Shadow or the genre in general. It wasn't a looker in terms of pure tech power or anything but it's style goes a long way, and it had nice production values. I liked the way stuff in the environment was destroyed and towers crumbled. The bird-dog had some nice animation and the music was really good.
