Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

The quick clip in the sizzle reel?

Slowed it down quite a bit because it's so short.

When did this happen?! The thing ended with Drake about to hit the bridge.

After that awesome systems demo at PSX that told us all we need to know about the dynamic combat sandbox, it was pretty much written in stone that they would present a setpiece at E3. And what a setpiece it was. Incredible. ND make other AAA devs look lazy.

Jesus fucking christ! There really are gods working at ND aren't there? I mean so much for the corridor shooter.

It looks absolutely phenomenal.

(I guess they saw the Hummer scene from Bad Boys 2) :)

Day 0

That demo was fantastic. It looked a lot more open and it's just glorious. Looking forward to the demo of the other section at E3.

I thought the exploration was tremendous, played very well to Uncharted's strength of cultivating the spirit of adventure and exploration. A tad linear, but that comes with the territory of a video demonstration. I was happy that the combat arena gave you avenues to gain an advantage, but as with the other Uncharted games I thought the overall encounter, AI and the way the battle played out was a bit too much of the same and didn't explore the potential they have to work with. It came off as very scripted.

I would have loved to see more of Drake's climbing ability play into combat. With that aspect being so strong in exploration, I would love it if it became more integrated into combat situations beyond obvious progression. Eg, using trees, vines and the jungle to sneak his way through or set up distractions.

Gun combat looks a bit lame to me, but going through that cave looked cool.

See that is what I find confusing. There's too many variables to script enemies in a wide environment. Where Uncharted 2 locked you in an arena (building scene, train sequence) U4 gave you an open area where the difference can mean engaging an enemy in one way or another. There's also the factor the enemy chase you into stealth, which, to my knowledge has never been implemented aside from TLOU. So I entirely disagree with your premise that it has played out the same.

Watching the Gamersyde footage now and there's so much I missed on the stream. This is an immaculate level of detail, even for tiny background elements. I also love how the destruction seems really dynamic and weighted properly. Too often things like wooden planks seem to move like they're made of styrofoam but here they actually fall appropriately.

Just watched both trailers. Yeah it's classic Uncharted Hollywood action...

While still using the same engine from previous gen, it looks mighty impressive. Especially the lighting and seeing all those particles on screen. They added a few things from the Last of Us (that co-op attack) and made it feel a lot more open-world (a lot of NPCs on screen, vehicle section, etc) I'm still not convinced about the shooting part but we'll see.

Man having TLG,this and Horizon in '16...

If Uncharted 4 is more open ended does that mean that it is becoming Tomb Raider while Tomb Raider is becoming Uncharted? Weird times we are gaming in.

Well, I noticed a chair was slipping when it was pushed on a little puddle of water. Just insane.

That was fucking epic, it did what trailers rarely do to me and got me really hyped for the game. Looked absolutely stunning too.

All the small objects flying everywhere, all the shots kicking up puffs of dust and smoke, the way that guy dies against the wall, the truck coming into the background with an almost comedic kind of recklessness

I said it in the other thread, but that gameplay is the first time I've been wowed this generation. It's not top dog in terms of sheer graphical fidelity, but it's definitely the best total package we've seen to date. That car chase sequence was straight up movie like.

Still kings...

I don't know what other to say than just phenomenal. Naughty Dog truly are the best in the industry.

it kills the dudes inside the building lol

the glitch makes it look like the guy is in pain lol

The scary thing is that I have the feeling the demo was even longer. I think Bruce may have missed the chance to jump up right at the end there.

they stoped the demo there bcuz of spoilers. the demo continues

Wow! I mean... I have faith in ND but that shit seriously looked way too good to be true! That's the most impressive gp footage I've ever seen. I'm praying it looks that good upon release. Mindblowing.

Im satisfied that they are showing nice setpieces but probally saving the best for when we play it.

Uncharted 3 showed too much of its best stuff and the end game wasnt as surprising as it should've been.

I cant wait to buy a ps4 for this

that subtle troll of the dimly lit interior into the bustling, vibrant city was awesome. seeing Drake and Sully in that environment with cars zipping on the street, and construction going on... really adds to the believability of the world, it feels like they're in our world.

i also like how it harkened back to those controlled walk moments in past games, where they crammed everything into the graphics in a small area, this took what looked like that U2 Tibetan village segment and then flipped it on its head when it opened up into a gunfight and this huge expansive and controllable car chase. so freaking good. and the graphics... man... my heart..

the dialog and banter was on point too, just great stuff all around.

i really want a proper story trailer though! and elena!

All of the stuff posted is amazing, but for some reason I can't get over how his foot catches the ground, kicks up mud, makes a deeper groove in the mud, and his leg then acts realistically to the sudden resistance.

All the active physics on everything gave me Half Life 2 vibes. Love seeing that shit getting thrown around during the action like it's a part of the gameplay itself, somehow relevant to it.

Hell, it WAS. In tiny ways, but still.

Is all of what we saw really explorable? Or is it just a chase playground?

I guess all I am trying to say is that the scope of this gameplay demo is absolutely amazing, just to serve as a 5 minute car chase...

If this sense of scale is actually translated into gameplay exploration then it has to be the best news ever, but if it is just there for 5 minutes it is a tad bit disappointing.

What I saw was incredible, but scale is the one thing that I believe uncharted needs and I hope that we get to explore such vast environments properly. Has Naughty Dog commented on this somehow?
