Saw the Siliconera article late last night and I was like "haha right"
Then today when I saw the green waves from the lifestream I got goosebumps all over and as soon as I heard the piano dropped I lost my shit.
This is the best E3 in recent memory (I'm a youngin so it doesn't really matter but still)

Just watched the conference and caught up to everything, and holy fucking Jesus Christ.

Good god. That was a perfect storm the likes of which we'll never see again. Holy shit.

The only thing I can conceivably think of that would've made shockwaves of that tier to add to the madness would be Agent, and we've gotta save at least one joke for future E3s.

The Last Guardian, a game feared dead for nearly eight years. FFVII, a HD remake of a game widely regarded as one of the best of all time. AND Shenmue 3. AND a MAJESTIC Uncharted setpiece. It reads like a damn fanfiction.

Holy shit. That will likely go down in the books as the best E3 conference ever, and rightfully so.

If Nintendo pulls out two of Mother 3, Metroid, or Galaxy 3 tomorrow, then we can officially certify this as the E3 of dreams.

Good god. I am in awe.

I've just woken up so upset I missed this craziness. Is this real?

Shenmue kickstarter for PC and ps4 (how come no xbone??)
FF7 remake in which sony is funding? So pretty much exclusive to ps4 then ported
And last guardian is real?

Horizon my friend check out gameplay for horizon

This conference... just completely destroyed me. Even now, I still can't believe what I was seeing. I don't think we'll ever have another showing as good as this one!

Sony knew exactly what they were doing. They could have kept some of these announcements for later, but dropping them all at once? Boom. Every site is talking about it now.

So damn, Siliconera and The Guardian do have some very good sources within Square and/or Sony.

I know, it sounds like you're still sleeping, right?

Trying to remain as unbiased as possible.

I feel like the fact that Shenmue needed a kickstarter is really dumb. I mean Sony will take all the glory of announcing the game but won't chip in 2m to fund it? Sony's thrown far more money at far less deserving titles, so why couldn't they help fund this one? Part of me thinks that the Kickstarter is a PR stunt, but part of me fears that Sony just wants to reap the rewards of the game without having to invest anything into it, and that this kind of thing will become the norm. For everyone's sake I hope that's not the case.

You think 2 mil is enough to fund a Shenmue game? You think Sony won't supply either money or manpower to help make the game?

I would bet that 2 mil is more about gauging interest and telling fans to put their money where their mouth is, before everyone moves forward with the project.

I know, it sounds like you're still sleeping, right?

Seriously. It sounds like a fairy tale, or one our nutty E3 prediction threads where some dude goes overboard for laughs.

Is there any big PS4 exclusives coming this year? or am I forgetting something? I have a gaming PC so games that also come for PC don't count for me.

I think I can safely wait until Uncharted 4 release to get my PS4. Hopefully by then there will be a 50€ price drop.

Persona5, Tales(also on pc) and dragon quest heroes would probably be the bigger ones. There's still gamescom, but I doubt anything incredibly big will come out of that to release still during this year.

What was most surprising to me was the brisk pace they moved along at. There was no drudgery like you can usually expect out of a Sony presser. And they dropped megaton after megaton, almost unceremoniously. It was nothin but game after game.

The FF7 remake trailer punched me real hard right in the nostalgia crotch.

Absolutely insane conference.

Posts like these are real funny after the fact.

Totally forgot about Persona 5 but isn't that also coming for PS3? Has there been any word on the differences between PS3 and PS4 versions?

I got up in the middle of the night to watch this and it was absolutely worth it.

Everything gamers' wanted to have been shown, was shown and then more was shown.

If Sony had given us just one of The Last Guardian, FF7 or Shenmue 3 Sony would have won E3.

With all three they've given us the best conference I have ever seen and almost definitely will ever see.

10/10

I just watched the entire Sony conference again in the GT stream. I had to watch the freak out from FFVII through Shenmue like three times. The amount of excitement and hype that these people feel really makes me love them even more. They're one of us.

I still can't believe that this actually happened. This was everything we joked about leading up to PSX back in December...

Yes it is, I only referenced it because people seem to forget about it :P.Not that I've noticed, they haven't said that much about the game. We can still hope for something during E3. If I was on that marketing team I wouldn't want the game to be shown in the middle of the conferences craze.

I didn't think I'd ever have so much trouble identifying star of the Show. I mean shit.

I think I'm personally leaning on Horizon, but that Uncharted footage was just so damn good as well.

I'm actually bummed that there wasn't more room for VR, but holy crap is it understandable. Talk about a loaded E3. So much good from every camp lol.

Sony maybe won hearts of fans but they failed to sell PS4 for holiday season for second year in the row. Maybe this will change after Paris Show but this was purely 2016/17 conference.

Because of that i thing that MS did better job on E3. I need to see Nintendo Direct i Square Enix conference to decide who "won" E3 but for me Bethesda had best conference for now.

That's partly because Microsoft basically released nothing besides Ori on the exclusives front the rest of the year, whilst Sony had Bloodborne, The Order 1886, MLB The Show, OlliOlli 2, Axiom Verge, Helldivers etc. The remaining exclusives like Persona 5, No Man's Sky, Until Dawn, Tearaway, RiME, The Witness and so on, aren't too bad when looking at the bigger picture, or the entire years worth of releases.

Not to mention Sony have marketing rights to some of the biggest multiplatform releases this year with Battlefront, Call of Duty, Arkham Knight and Assassin's Creed Syndicate.

That is not something that users are expecting. When you see MS and their lineup Sony simply got destroyed and they should be when second year in the row they don;t have anything better from their first party then remake of Vita game and PS3 games.

oh i agree with you i honestly feel like ms had the better lineup last year, this year, and next year. Sony in my opinion dropped the ball on their first party, exclusives not being exclusives, and big exclusives coming to their consoles on a timely manner. If we actually look at what Microsofts first party has released since its come out and what should be released before next e3 its pretty amazing .But it seems like it doesn't actually matter its all hype and fanboy nostalgia. The three biggest games right now destiny, star wars, and battlefield are all being marketed by Sony this holiday and the biggest game Microsoft has is Halo and possibly fall out, i honestly think it will be a bloodbath this holiday with Microsoft deals and Sony marketing.

No Witness or Rime. Hm.

At least we got No Man's Sky, which looked fantastic!

Dude. Don't you feel sorry for the guys who had to show their game after FF7 and shenmue? I'm glad I didn't see lots of indies tonight, for they probably wouldn't get any exposure or interest from crowd at all.

Solid conference, 7.5/10. Was very front-loaded similar to Microsoft's.

- Sony's first party lineup continues to be severely lacking. Bend, Polyphony, Santa Monica, Quantic Dream, etc were absent yet again. They've got nothing for this year and none of their future games had release dates either (except for TLG's vague "2016").
- Trifecta was cool, three back-to-back megatons. I don't agree with the hype personally, TLG looked like the PS3 game we've seen years back, FF7 is a PS1 remake that is likely many years away, and Shenmue 3 was simply plugging a damn Kickstarter. Wasn't much substance to these reveals. But it's cool to see the excited reactions from fans of these games, really does read like fan fiction to have all three of those games announced at the same conference. I knew GAF would crash from people losing their minds. Well played Sony.
- Horizon and Uncharted 4 both looked fantastic. These two games were the highlight of the conference for me.
- Dreams seems to be more of a tech demo than a game at this point.
- No Man's Sky developer looked bored of demoing his game for the 100th time and tbh I'm kinda bored of seeing it 100 times. I just want to buy it already. They should've announced a release date at least.
- Firewatch looks really great, I'm probably getting it on PC though.
- Expected this to be the Morpheus coming out party but it had barely any presence at all. It doesn't feel like a product that's coming out in early 2016.
- Rest was all third party multiplats. Destiny, Hitman, AC, CoD, Disney Infinity, Battlefront, Arkham Knight, etc. Sony is going hard on exclusive DLC. The only game I thought demoed well from this bunch was Battlefront, the rest had kind of boring showings imo. The Batman stuff especially felt like a waste of time given how soon it's releasing. Definitely big titles though.

Overall a very solid conference.

I can see the argument for this year and last year but next year?

I can't imagine what Nintendo could announce that would rival any of this, to be honest. And if you haven't played a game before, then of course you can't understand the reaction at the FFVII announcement. Not sure what you expected.

Nintendo already had an incredible event with the NWC and is likely to have an amazing Treehouse stream this year as well provided they've got great games to show off. Super Mario Maker looks to be one that will likely be a ton of fun to watch in the treehouse stream. Also, they'll likely bring in some of the NWC people to play the games. I really hope that we get to see Trihex, one of the best Yoshi's Island players in the world, get to demo Yoshi's Wooly World. Although I don't think Nintendo will be able to top the megatons that Sony dropped this conference, (although I've already explained why I'm personally not that excited for them) I do believe that Nintendo as a whole can put on a better overall E3 experience then Sony, at least for me personally.

Again, haven't played any FF games, but I can't think of any game that I personally have played that I would lose my shit over this hard if it were remade. But I'm not that big a remake person.

Can't be because you're old fashioned, because you have to be old fashioned in order to be someone that cares about old things enough in the first place to then care that they're being revisited in some way. I'm old fashioned and it was a megaton "I can't believe it's happening" moment for me. FF7's not even my favorite FF, but if you've had video game culture and community flowing through your blood for the last decade or so, you feel the heart beat. It's honestly like not understanding why anyone would care if Half-Life 3 finally got announced.

Bad wording. "Old Fashioned" isn't the right word for it. But I really wish people would separate a game's legacy from what it becomes. When Half-Life 3 eventually gets teased/released, I hope that it will be judged on its own merits and not OMG HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED. No one spare any pleasantries when Duke Nukem Forever came out. Something being overdue and a long time coming shouldn't be a reason to raise it on a pedestal above anything else. If anything it should be under higher scrutiny.

Shenmune isn't going to take just 2m to make. I think sony is going to be covering the rest of the costs, but presumably this is there to prove that people care and that doing so is not a waste of money.

You think Sony thought there was such a strong possibility that people didn't want a Shenmue 3 that they had to fund a kickstarter campaign to make sure? Given its reaction I'm pretty sure Sony knew exactly what they were getting into. There may be a non-mailicous reason why Sony didn't fully fund the game, but this one seems a bit implausible to me.

I can't believe what I'm reading.

Whether you've played the titles or not, these were titles requested by gamers for almost 10 years and more. Three titles that have gained a cult status. It's as if Nintendo never released a Zelda title for 10+ years until today, then the Internet would explode.

That is exactly what has happened today. Multiplied by 3. History has been made.

I wasn't really paying much attention back then, but I'm pretty sure people weren't losing their shit this hard when DKC Returns or New Super Mario Bros were revealed. (Not trying to play favorites and say Nintendo is undersold though I'm sure there's examples from other companies too and there's plenty of Nintendo games that get overhyped as well) And those were full reveals of new games. Not announcements of remakes or announcements of a kickstarter campaign. I don't think that it's entirely unreasonable to say that Sony shouldn't just be given the "Won everything forever" trophy for just saying some games are in the works with little detail on any of them besides some "gameplay" and a release date for The Last Guardian, a game that by all means should have been released at least 3 years ago. (And in my opinion the trailer wasn't that good although it did look exceedingly cute) Only one of them is even an exclusive. Yes, it's awesome that these games are going to exist for those that have been looking forward to them for so long but just the act of saying they're going to exist with little info shouldn't just be enough especially since there is the possibility that A: They won't get released; or B: The final product won't be as good as people were hoping for.
