A lot of pandering and no real reason to own their system right now.

I never cared about Shenmue, Last Guardian looks alright and expected, and I've already played FF7. Don't really care.
My views on it are pretty much in line with the GiantBomb reaction to the press conference.

Firewatch and Uncharted look good, though.

You expected TLG?

So I actually managed to miss Sony's Live E3 press conference (it was late enough in the evening that I had to get to bed or risk missing work), but caught all the other conferences.

Aside from Zenimax, it was looking like kind of a lame E3 in all honesty.

But wait...what's that?

Oh SHI-*HYPE TRAIN ZOOMS PAST THE FINAL STOP, NO MORE TURNING BACK NOW*, Sony delivered the goods. In bulk. Literally all they are missing is HL3 and Agent. That's it, all the other bigfoots and Loch Ness Monster's of gaming's recent past got squashed at this thing. In a good way.

Well done Sony. Well done.

So you think a conference is "dumb" because three games you don't like are being revealed for an entirely new generation of gamers? Also, you say "right now" as if you expected the developers to have these titles ready to go next week. Tell me the real reason you made a driveby post before you actually watched Sony's conference as other members have exposed.

I'm having a hard time believing anyone would troll so flippantly and risk their account.

So I just watched the conference now...
THE Last Guardian was reconfirmed?! Final Fantasy VII remake?! ...Shenmue III?!?!

Is GAF alright? o____o

Plus, I thought dreams by Media Molecule looks like it has lots of potential.

One thing that was sadly absent was much needed love for Vita (aside from World of Final Fantasy, which looked quite interesting).

We needed Gravity Rush 2 :(

I can't believe Sony held onto using 'Go Square, Go' until this day. Perfect song. I was worried at the beginning when they used it (cringing slightly, no way they can live up to it) but they played their trap card(s) with a touch of E3 genius.

I thought Uncharted 4 would be the only thing I was interested in and that Sony couldn't possibly top MS's announcements. Then I get off work and see three of the top five threads being FFVII Remake, TLG reveal, and Shenmue 3. wat.

Watched the whole conference and it was master class. maybe the best I've seen in the last 10 years. I think my favorite parts were actually Horizon, which really surprised me, and Uncharted 4. FFVII probably got the most emotional reaction from me though. The closing shot with Cloud and Barret.

Or I am watching the GiantBomb stream and the conference has just ended and I am still watching the video?

I didn't expect any of these three games to come out this year, but I do expect some first party games to come out on my system.

I would like a reason to own my system this year and something to be excited for to come out in the coming months.

If it makes you feel any better I didn't like Microsofts conference either and thought that was dumb as well?

Boyes and Yoshida must have felt like Santa. I know I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. Still can't believe this really happened.

For omfg moments that has to be one if not the best shows ever, started with a bomb they kept coming then uc4 looks on a level I didn't even expect and I had huge expectations.

TLG must have cost Sony a fortune to make, and it won't sell millions and millions of copies. but i'm glad Sony didn't cancel it.

Can't wait to play it. next year is going to be awesome.

Probably in the minority here but uhm, I'm pretty disapointed. That Guerilla game looked alright but don't care at all about everything that seem to have people going mad.
I have no clue what a Shenmue is, don''t care about FF let alone a remake of an old one, and that last guardian looked boring as hell, the voice of that little kid already got on my nerves in the few minutes a footage shown..
I'm debating to sell my PS4 once i'm done with the Witcher 3 and get an XB1 honestly, love me some Gears and i'm able to play my old 360 games.

Thanks for letting us know. You don't care about a remake but are going to sell your ps4 to play one and your old 360 games?. Seems legit.

Awesome. more power to you. Enjoy your new Xbone.

You conference was good when a fairly badass character reveal for AC was considered a low point. What didn't this have that could have made it better? I only now remembered that I'm am bummed as everyone else who wanted Persona, JRPGs etc, (basically "Japanese stuff" other than FF)! But we're just not going to see as much of it at E3, which is specifically the US audience. Sony tweaks their events for the appropriate region. Shunmue is even more surprising considering this. It's 85% funded as I write this. There are a lot of Japanese fans that aren't even going to get a chance to participate in it because it was so fast. It's $2M set, no stretch goals, so once it's done it's done.

Also, so many missing things! Hell, MGSV got a grand total of about 5 seconds of sizzle reel time and that's out in 3 months. There was legitimately enough other things to show. Not even a Nathan Drake Collection plug! No mention of the rather sizable firmware update was also surprising. They did actually have enough actual game content that things of interest like DLNA would have been a bore, where beforehand we figured that would have been awesome. Other stuff like Bloodborne DLC is, in all its glory, a sales footnote compared to what they want everything else they showed to be. All the games displayed are things they're looking to be 3-5M++ sellers. A segment on, say, Persona would have been a poor use of time for an American audience whether we as industry enthusiasts want to admit it or not.

The brief bits on Vue and Morpheus were there more for Sony's shareholders than the crowd. That's also why we get the "talk time". Honestly surprised they spent zero time boasting or bragging about any statistics. It's expected you show off at least a little when you're in such an overwhelming dominant position. Some very smart people got together and realized that trying to show a presser surrounding VR would have been very difficult and just end up awkward. We were expecting 2 hours originally. Did they just cut out huge chunks of demos? 30 minutes for Morpheus seems like it could have easily been ready.

Overdue announces from Quantic Dream and of GT7 are possible things attached to Morpheus' launch so those things can wait a bit more. When we were told there'd be a release date for No Man's Sky "soon" I'm assuming it's while Sony pens in a final Morpheus' launch. Interested in floor impressions.

Score: Pigs Fly/10. I wanted to mention that the trolling of showing the FFKawaii game JUST before FFVII was the trollingstly trolling that's ever been trolled, which is quite a feat after Square's repeated trolling last year. Someone had to have deliberately set it up that way. It was too good to troll the audience and then immediately flip it over. One of the squares on the Sony E3 bingo cars the past few years has literally been a "pigs fly..." for FFVII.

Why Sony has said recently that they're sort of forced to promote third-party stuff makes is even more understandable now. To us the lineup is weak but they have marketing with what'll be the 3 top global sellers for the year (COD, AC and Battlefront, probably in that order). That's what matters for the vast majority of gamers and certainly holiday shoppers--again returning to this being a US event. This all said, Sony is not fucking around. They could have been a bit lazy this year given their position but they decided to pour it on even harder instead. They want MIcrosoft out, or at least retreated to PC.

Japan is back
Yeah, that's what I was thinking about. All three major points were about high profile Japanese games, while on the "B" level of things, XSEED are localizing a ton of niche games.
The Japanese console market might be shrinking but we're getting a lot of different stuff in the upcoming 18 months, on top of Western stuff. I might be too optimistic right now but this looks like a very broad portfolio.

starting a kickstarter on an e3 stage shouldnt be a thing where gamers start to celebrate. i dont like this at all.
That's one way to look at it.

Another way would be to say that we saw Yu Suzuki show a Shenmue 3 trailer. The $2M is better with them than in GameStop pre-orders

Cool story bro.

They don't want MS out that much. $299.99 this holiday along with a timed hat would of done it. Sony is not forking that. They'll ride their current profit margins as much as they can. Sony definitely held back content - absolutely and without a doubt. Knowing that MS held too for Gamescom was probably the main reason. Sony surely wants the last say at Paris. Then the overkill at TGS/PSX.

Best thing out of this conference by far was Horizon. Gorgeous, interesting concept leveraging Guerrilla's production strengths with a vision far more intriguing than Killzone, and demonstrated with gameplay.

Uncharted comes second. It's coming together really well and since I'm a fan of the series it's a nobrainer to be at least somewhat excited.

The "big three" announcements are all well and good and milestones as far as conference history goes, but as system selling megatons of substance? Ehhhhh. I couldn't give a shit about FFVII and even then it was announce via a confusing CGI trailer with promise of more info to come from a publisher notorious for shitty promises. The Last Guardian has me excited but a so-so demo that looked exactly like its PS3 origins does not quell concerns that it's taken this long to release because the game legitimately isn't that great. And I'm giving Sony the benefit of the doubt that they actually intend to assist the funding of Shenmue III, but I want to hear it and not "ANNOUNCING A GAME FOR YOU TO FUND", even though I do appreciate the good will.

They were fluff hype announcements basically on the fringes of actual substance like Horizon and Uncharted for a system that still has an atrociously barren end-of-year line-up. Still, best conference Sony has done in awhile.

Exactly. Besides Persona 5 and maybe some news on the localization for Yakuza 5 I don't really know what else they could've done. They showed a bunch of new first party titles, had the third parties there too and didn't even spend time on this year's exclusives like Until Dawn, Uncharted Collection and the likes of Rime, Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, The Witness, etc.

I don't how someone could see that Uncharted 4 demo and want to sell their PS4. It's also sad that this probably isn't a troll post lol

Best conference in ages, and i'm not even interested in Shenmue or FF.

Horizon looks great, Naughty Dog are like the Messi of videogames, Uncharted is on another level and makes the show worth alone.

I'd give this console exclusive and coming to playstation first/10. Launching a Kickstarter with a countdown to nothing was pretty hilarious too.

I think the conf was pretty impressive.
I really liked Horizon (new IP, exclusive), I liked the FFVII remake announcement, I liked TLG renaissance, I loved Shenmue 3 return!
Also Uncharted 4 looked very solid.

It looked great sure, it's just not the sort of games I go crazy for, I prefer big RPG's or "dumb" shooters. I bought a PS4 mainly for Bloodborne, that game delivered and the expansion is pretty much the only reason i'm still in doubt.
It's great most of y'all are so happy with the stuff being shown, but I'm not. Don't see why that's so weird.

Honestly, if you love Gears of War buy an XB1. Really, MS went out and purchased the IP, they are going to fund and support multiple iterations of it. It's like Sony buying the MGS franchise and then someone who loves it buying an XB1 over a PS4!
