Uncharted 4: A Thief's End Gameplay (E3 2015)

Looks great and I am bummed(but understand/support) it was delayed.

As much as I enjoy the Uncharted series, I can't wait to see what ND are going to work on next.

One has to wonder how long Naughty Dog can keep Druckmann and Stanley at their ranks...

those guys seem to be absolutely at the peak of the industry right now. Their ideas and choices seem one step (if not more..way more) ahead of everyone else...

And I believe that if they dont get like a huge promotion ala Evan Wells style, I dont see how long they will want to report to a "boss".

I wont be surprised (but will be extremely sad) if they opt to part ways with Naughty Dog in due course, because they will have achieved everything they would hope to in ND ranks and their careers will be at a stall. It's absolutely normal for them to aim to achieve more together with their own company perhaps.

All in all I think these guys are in top form atm... and ND should give them reason to stay there.

I expect a large reason for them to stay is the fact they get to play with a huge AAA budget and only have to target one platform, allowing them to focus the fuck out of the engine/design to suit that platform.

There are a whole bunch of technical aspects that are great in this game, but just the level of detail in every corner of the level blew me away.

Hi tech diagram incoming... For the first road section, where the armoured vehicle is going down the main road, and Sully is ducking down side streets, it could be something like this

Imagine the black line is the main road that the truck drives down, and the red and blue lines are side roads cross crossing the main road. They'll almost certainly be controlled to give the impression of freedom while still moving you towards the goal. And when you're going at speed being chased, you don't have time to stop and have a drive around to look for dead ends.

There are sections where he actually broke off the main road path. I need to rewatch it again.

Lol its funny because it wasn't even bad looking and we would have never noticed if it had been any other game. That's just how good the rest of the demo looked. Really impressed.

It's like they say... when everything else looks as good as it does anything that's not up to par is bound to be noticed, and not in a good way.

hard to fully appreciate everything happening at once. good thing gifs slow down segments of details i wouldve easily missed. naughty gods are insaneee

That blew me away, a roller coaster done right. Amazing work. Detail was insane and love the dialogue and timing. Well crafted.

Eventually they get their own studios or get higher stake in Naughty Dog. Letting them leave should not be an option.

This footage just blows my mind.
Still no Elena though, I guess she's really sitting this one out, it's weird that we didn't get a glimpse of her in the trailer.

There is a screenshot with her (check the past few pages). I expect her role to be small like UC3 but she's in the game.

Off-topic as hell, but I love the user name/avatar. John Crichton. The best.

Anyway, I concur. Elena will have a fairly small role but she'll be there.

I feel completely disconnected from the gaming community when it comes to this series. The demo did absolutely nothing for me.

Different strokes and all that I guess looking at people saying TLG gameplay looked boring haha.

This game will melt our PS4.

Joking aside, that was impressive. I was mesmerised by Horizon, but this, this stand on a league of its own.

While I think battlefront probably has a slightly better IQ and lighting at this moment, the attention to detail is what gets this for me

Are you not into TPS games? Nothing compares in terms of fluidity currently to UC4.

TLG was fking awesome as well though.

I got slightly annoyed when the car chase turned into the cut scene. The antenna on the car stopped swaying immediately. After the cut scene it started to magically sway again.

Just watched this in 1080p... If they hit 60 with this game... My god..

I think i'll be unlocked a la infamous SS and it'll release with 30fps lock.

How much choice is there actually? Has it been made clear?
ND have said in interviews that most of the times, the game has multiple paths. By the looks of it, it is still a get from Point A to Point B linear game, but between Point A and B, you'll get to choose from Path 1, 2 and possibly 3 or even maybe mixed them up, start with path 1 and maybe end with path 3.

I bet you anything that we'll be able to get to the vehicle from the ground rather than from the roof, if we take another path. And if you look closely at the driving sections, there is a lot choices of streets and corners to get all the way down to the tower while avoiding the armored truck.

Cutscenes are downgraded from gameplay? Fetch the axes and pitchforks!

I find the shooting mechanics pretty boring though, it's just too grounded in reality. Like it's just duck behind cover, shoot a bit, throw a grenade, repeat etc.

I'd much rather play something more fast paced like Vanquish or Splatoon.

But I'd rather not get into that too much, I just wanted to say how surreal it is to see the reactions to this, because I just cannot understand it and I feel so disconnected to the community. It's a weird feeling.

How the fuck is this possible?

Honestly, this is the impression I got from the video as well. It's probably going to be like this instead of an open area where you can drive anywhere you see fit and still have the (scripted) key movements in chase sequence.

Also, they said Spring 2016 in March, but their latest press release just says '2016'.. and Bruce/Neil said the same on Youtube.. I'll cry if delayed.

I'm interested.. are we going to see Drake Collection footage?

Curious about that too. I have high hopes for it though, on the official youtube stream Geoff Keighly interviewed Scott Rhode afterwards and he mentions that they're not just up-ressing the visuals but apparently using what they've learnt from 2 and 3 to polish up the first one etc.

We might as well get this out of the way, this will be 30 fps.
Considering how much shit they would get if this ended up not being the best looking PS4 game I can't blame them. Most people here talk a lot about wanting 60fps but that goes out the window as soon as the nitpicking begins whenever new media is released.
Considering what we've seen in the footage regarding destructibility, physics and the open-ended design of the environments, I'll take it.
These things create new gameplay possibilities that seem more exciting to me than the 60 fps which would probably force them to sacrifice a lot of their vision and since that vision seems to be primarly focused on taking the gameplay to another level I'm fine with that.

I missed that interview.. I'll take a look.

I NEED to see what they've done.. hopefully grenade throwback is in.

New Elena is great. Looks more like she did in 2 again, but more like a real human being. She was a disaster in 3, still have no idea why they would do such a thing.

This gameplay was definitely one of the highlights of all today's conferences. Naughty Dog are absolute legends in game design and set pieces.
Can't wait for this to finally get released!

That looked fantastic. Great mix of gameplay with the combat and driving. Haven't got a PS4 yet but that looks like the game that will tip me over the edge. Hats off to ND.

This looked fucking amazing. When they started showing UC4 I kept thinking that they wouldn't be able to create a wow moment like when they showed UC2. And then the driving section came up. So good.

You know what really caught me off guard? After all the unexciting "cinematic gameplay" trailers we have seen up to this point (Halo 5, Gears, Tomb Raider...) I'm really surprised that it is still possible to make this very formula feel engaging again.
I guess the secret lies in the execution.
