By the way you do realise that if this game bombs in sales, Nintendo is going to think

"Oh I guess no-one wanted a Metroid game despite asking for it"

Also people seem to forget this, Nintendo is also working on a 2D Metroid game. They stated this last year.
Maybe that would be for the best. More Donkey Kong that way.

I would have been fine with this had the game been a less chibi, single player focused spin off revolving around the federation and their business. With a driven story.
That could have been cool.
Also as much as I like sakamoto, just drop the prime subtitle for anything metroid and unite the two universes together. Now we have two totally diferent federation suits and important secondary characters between one franchise and the other that would all work better in the same universe.

You know, part of the reason they revived the Kid Icarus series was because of strong sales of the lack luster GBA port.

Just consider that when you hope this game bombs.

It really doesn't matter what anyone says.

Metroid is never a multimillion seller anyway, even at it's best.

This is metroid, apparently without either of the gameplays that people like, nor the character who is the face of the series.

This has "gonna bomb" written all over it.

Hunters especially seems like significantly more effort went into it. That was one of the most technically impressive DS games.

Did you come to that conclusion on hunters by watching it blown up at 720p?
No?

Can we wait for hands-on impressions please?

The prime universe is cool. This is a good way to expand it without having to have samus jettisoned in for some bullshit reason.

Idiotic GIF aside can you link to the source on this claim?

I have faith in NL games to make a good game. It's probably going to be a fun game, but they musth ave expected branding it as a Metroid game. Really surprised they did that.

people like "lel if u want it to bomb its gonna kill the franchise how do you feel about that metroid fanboys?"

this is going to bomb no matter what creole voodoo we work on this game, have some common sense

What a waste of talent of Next Level... Couldn't they figure out something more appealing for them to work on...

Even if this is a good game (it probably will be), I think we're seeing the death of the Metroid IP before our eyes. There is absolutely no way this game is a success sales-wise and Nintendo will simply let the franchise die. I'm really sad.
Again, does anyone pay attention to Nintendo? Metroid isn't done. A spinoff is a spin-off. I'm disappointed by the lack of a true metroid game but this spin-off means nothing for the future of the series unless this somehow becomes a big success.

Not what I wanted out of Metroid, but since it's Next Level it will probably be a good game on its own. I'll do my exaggerated sigh now and see what it's like when it comes out.

Excuse me? All I said was that Hunters was a technically more impressive game. It was used as the tech demonstration for the DS launch, for crying out loud. It clearly had a lot of effort put into it. Compare that with the incredibly brief mention this year, and just compare the visuals to something like Hyrule Warriors, or NLG's last game, Luigi's Mansion. There's just frankly a clear decline in the Metroid IP's importance in Nintendo's eyes.

We've gone from the days where Hunters and Prime 3 were the first games shown on their respective console, to this.

Almost every new thing Nintendo showed had really, really underwhelming trailers. This one in particular should not have been shown off like this without some follow-up to properly explain what is going on.

Really bizarre how they initially announced Blastball, but didn't even mention the Metroid name being attached to it. It's like they knew we'd hate it, but didn't want us to know just yet, so as not to spoil the rest of the show.

Yeah, I feel bad for Next Level Games. They got stuck with this and they're probably excited to have worked on it. But the reaction is going to be depressing to them.

I guess I'm not against the cutesy / superdeformed approach to a Metroid game, but the look of this seems really off for a game from Next Level Games. They did a good job on Luigi's Mansion, and the 3DS is a plenty capable machine even if it does have its limitations, so I just don't understand why this doesn't have any kind of visual artstyle goal that I can understand. Hopefully it comes across better on a real 3DS than this, but I'm at a loss...

{SCRATCH - I thought they did PilotWings 3DS too but I got my Next Level and my Monster Games mixed up. Still generally a capable developer.}

Well, it deserves it. Looks awful, by any standards, but then they slap the Metroid name on it. That's going to go over well with people who have been waiting 8 years for a decent game in the series.

Why does it look awful? I'm completely dumbstruck at the Metroid franchise involvement, but it looks like it could be fun.
